Anakin Flair Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I hate posting at work. It takes to long.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Man, I guess I need to finally go watch the first two seasons so I figure out what's going on. Don't have the money to get the DVDs, haven't been taping. Oh well. The first 3 seasons of Angel are my sinkhole of un-knowledge in the Buffyverse. Great episode though. I, uh, certainly felt like I was supposed to go "OMG IT'S ______," even though I had no clue what I was lookin' at.
chaosrage Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 It's called making good television. Because in good television, relationships never work out for anybody. Everything must stay the same....
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 You've missed some really fucking good stuff Ed. Re-watching all these episodes and watching it evolve and some of the foreshadowing they do - it's just brilliant stuff. Plus the shows hold up (and in some cases are MUCH better than they were the first time around). I watched some of "Billy" the otherday - that was sooooo much better than I remembered. Gunn telling Fred to knock him out while Wes went straight to being Bad was probably the turning point in the luvtriangle and the effects are still seen today.
chaosrage Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 While I'd love to see a "Buffy" movie, what could they do? the one thing that limited the time that Buffy could go on was how they set up the big bads- each one was more powerfull every year. They went from: The Master To Angelus/Spike/Dru To The Mayor/Pure Demon to Adam/Gov to Glory the Hellgod They then took a break to become depressing, giving us the Troika and ultimately Dark Willow then they went all out and gave us the uber-bad First Evil. If they do a movie, who would be the big bad? Dark Willow maybe, but she seems to be gone thanks to the slayer activation spell( the white hair symbolizing Willow being purified) and the fact that she has Kennedy to support her. Maybe the First again, but I'd doubt it. Why not? They didn't kill it. The first is still around somewhere stirring shit up. But again, I hope they do have a movie. There are still things they can do (wrapping up Spike-Buffy, Slayer Acadamey, etc). but I doubt we'll see anything like that anytime soon. I guess Angel would have to be over with first. Maybe after.
Guest JMA Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I'd like to see a remake of the original Buffy movie--the way it was SUPPOSED to be. Joss' work was greatly changed and too much comedy was added. If you want to see how the story was supposed to be like, Dark Horse comics has a mini-series for Buffy called "Origin." This comic is based on Joss' original script. I think the remake would serve as a prequel to the Buffy series. Of course, someone younger would probably need to play Buffy's role.
Mole Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I don't think a movie would be made anytime soon. The TV audience wasn't big enough for a movie to do well, even though the show has found new fans after it ended.
BlackFlagg Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I think the remake would serve as a prequel to the Buffy series. Of course, someone younger would probably need to play Buffy's role. If they can look Hopkins look young enough for Red Dragon then they can cut a few years off of Sarah, heh

I think the first movie would be about either A) gathering and training the new slayers while fighting some big bad, or B) Focusing on the Cleveland hellmouth and some battle happening there.
Hank Kingsley Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 They then took a break to become depressing, giving us the Troika BEST BIG BADS EVER. "We're your archnemesis...es." And after seeing "Storyteller", Andrew has surpassed everyone as my favorite character.
Anakin Flair Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I liked the Troika, but I was SO hoping for Dark Willow to be the overall big bad of the season. She could have played the Scoobys the whole season before being stopped. of coorse, that's what happened on Angel in season 4 w/ Cordy, so maybe it's a good thing that they didn't do it
Guest stardust Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Thanks La Parka and Mole for explaining who Lindsay is. I missed all of season 1 and most of season 2 so I was like "okay, I know he's gotta be someone important, but I don't know who he is." I just hadn't gotten around to asking yet.
Cavi Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 No Thanksgiving Buffy? Darrrrrrr, what's showing in its place? Cops all day? Lame movies. Personally, I don't want to see a Buffyverse movie made. I don't even want another series, but I would take that over a movie any day.

It was building up since season 4, so it was sweet when it came.
BorneAgain Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 If there was a movie made, I would like it to involve someone corrupting all the slayers around the world and creating an army of them. The idea that newly-powerful girls were all in the world is in my opinion the only loose thread from the finale. I mean, can you imagine a showdown between the good slayers and the ones turned evil by the big bad? The only question is who would be the person leading them.

BlackFlagg Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Ya know what I always wondered....what if a Slayer was turned? I don't think it was ever brought up....would they be just like other vamps or would they be extra powerful. You would think after all these years a vamp would go hey, why not turn the slayer rather than kill it? Of course maybe they can't be turned, but it is something I would like to find out about.
Mole Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I was thinking that too the other day. I would think she would become extra strong if she could become a vampire. If you think about it, vampires that were big when they were humans are extra strong, so wouldn't it work the same for slayers? If there was any vampire to turn a slayer, it would be Spike. It seems him personality fits to do something like that.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 In the ep last year where Faith let Angelus bite her, I thought they might make that happen...but then I remembered the needless diversion with the "Orpheus" drug that had to fit in somewhere. Too bad. I think a vamped slayer could be a wonderful big bad.

Too bad. I think a vamped slayer could be a wonderful big bad. What would've been the point in vamping Faith though? Yeah, VampFaith might be interesting to see in a Wishverse-type scenario, but in the "real world", it would've just been a sad, depressing end to the character, where she never gets the chance to fully earn her redemption by helping Angel or returning to Sunnydale. We've already seen all of Faith's self-loathing/inferiority issues come out without having to resort to a vampire version of her. IMO, it would've just been a retread of BtVS S3, except that the decision to kill her would no longer be morally questionable, since she'd be beyond saving at that point.
Mole Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 They could of done it with Kendra then.
BlackFlagg Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I first thought of it with the Council being blown up....could've found out that a slayer was turned a long time ago and has been kept locked away by the council but got free after the events with the First...maybe even released directly by it's minions, could work....you know the council would do something like that.
Mole Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 (edited) They could always play that angle on Angel. Now that I think about it, they should. This thread as a chance to beat out the Buffy one. This time last year, Buffy was only on the 10th page while Angel is on page 30. Edited November 23, 2003 by MoleSlayer
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Yeah, but Dames won't put it in Classics because A) There already is a Mega-Buffy-Thread in it. B) He didn't start this one
Ravenbomb Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 yeah, but it seems like any buffy conversations go here now, too, so it should be bigger
Mole Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 We talk about more broad subjects in here though. In the Buffy thread it was more about what happened on the show, but in here we talk more what ifs.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 (edited) Dames, I think doth protest too much.. Your ego is getting out of hand, man. You can't STAND the fact that this thread is growing more powerful than your lil Buffy Season 7 thread and that it's time has come to overtake this board and ascend to its rightful place as THE classic of all classic threads. But YOU can't have that because YOU'RE too busy gallivanting around with SMALLVILLE to even NOTICE. You think that since you're the king of this board that you're the king of men! WELL YOU'RE NOT! YOU ARE NOT INFALLIBLE! WHY WON'T YOU PUT THIS IN THE CLASSIC THREADS!?! WWWWWHYYYY?????!!! Look what you've done to Mole! Poor, Poor, Mole... he's worked so hard becoming the #1 poster in this thread and YOU don't even have the DECENCY to give him this small lil gesture. CAN'T YOU SEE?? This is all he has... DAMMIT, ARE YOU SO VAIN?:!~?! Edited November 24, 2003 by RavishingRickRudo
