'Gigli' Yanked From British Movie Theaters

After averaging only about $300 per theater, the 73 British movie houses showing Gigli have decided to pull it after less than a week. The film debuted with reviews that would have made the dismal American notices appear like raves in comparison. "Celluloid manure," critic Alan Frank called it in the Daily Star. Peter Bradshaw in the Guardian wrote that stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez "are awe-inspiringly, world-historically awful." The film itself, he added, is "just so catastrophic I expected the audience to adopt the 'brace' position in the stalls, as if on a crashing plane." TV critic Jonathan Ross of Sky's Film 2003 remarked that despite the American reviews, "nothing can prepare you for quite how bad Gigli is." Likewise James Christopher in the Times commented "Mere words fail to express the awfulness" of the film.

This will become a cult phenomenon and will be rereleased in two years.

Umm...

... nope. Still won't see it. I don't need a hammer to fall on me to know that gravity is real, and I don't need to see that movie to know that it sucks.

It's not that we need proof. It's just that now it's a must see due to it's legacy of being awful.

You know...like Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Plan 9 actually has some entertainment value, though.

No, I need proof.

If I listened to my local reviewers, they called Fight Club the biggest waste of time they ever had seen and that it would go down as one of the worst films ever with a ending that made absolutly no sense and came out of nowhere.

Of course I saw the movie and swore off Atlantas movie reviewers.

Zack...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

You did not just call 2 Fast 2 Furious a GOOD movie. PLEASE say that was a typo.

I liked 2F2F for what it was. Good, mindless fun. I'm not about to hand Paul Walker an Oscar and call him the next DeNiro, but I liked the movie.

As for reviewers, I'm with Ripper that I have to see this for myself. The local reviewer for the Providence Journal Bulletin is a horrible critic. He bagged The Rundown by saying that The Rock doesn't have much personality. THE ROCK. And back when Ace Ventura came out, he wrote it off as utter tripe and gave it * out of *****. When it became a smash hit, he CHANGED HIS RATING to *** and said it was childish, yet hilarious or something. So I don't take anything that guy says seriously.

Between Paul Walker and Tyrese, the bad acting just gave me a headache.

I guess it could be a good movie if you just don't think, but I like my non thinking to come in the Bad Boys 2 variety. At least there is alot of shooting and yelling.

This one will probably be a renter with a group of people. Me and a few buddys do that with bad movies like Crossroads and Tomb Raider

I was about to get Glitter from Wal-mart for 5.88 for the same reason and then I saw it on HBO(or Cinemax...one of the two) so it saved me 6 bucks. I just got the Troll/Troll 2 DVD. Hilartiy ensued.

You know, I waited years for a freaking Bad Boys sequel, since the first one is one of my favorite movies period. Of course, every time there was an opportunity to see it, someone couldn't go, this one's g/f wanted to see something else, blah blah blah.

The reason for that rant? It led to me seeing 2F2F TWICE in the theater, without seeing Bad Boys 2 ONCE. I still haven't seen it.

::pisses and moans while waiting for DVD::

Plan 9 is entertaining because it's so awful. Gigli can be entertaining in the same way.

2F2F > Bad Boys 2

Oh do I have great hatred for the Will Smith & Martin Lawerence movie.

BLASPHEMY!!!! (or however you spell it...)

BB2 wasn't as good as the first, but it was a nice little movie. If you liked the first, you'll like the second. They could've brought back Tea Leoni though. Its not like she is DOING anything.

Any movie show casing Rice Burners can't be good.

you ~RACIST!

wait...

what?

Huh? I consider a Rice Burner any car that's all tricked out and can't back it up against a real MAN's CAR!!! Such as a Mustang with all the exterior mods and nothing under the hood except for a crappy V6. Oh did I mention there are a lot of high school kids around her with Honda's that have nothing but exterior mods and loud exhaust but NOTHING UNDER THE HOOD!!!! And they drive around acting like they're badasses and like they're fast and I outrace all of them...in my FACTORY 94 LUMINA!!!

No kidding. I was under the impression she'd have wound up with Will Smith, or at least stayed in contact with the guys.

Save for Joey Pants, Smith, Lawrence and Theresa Randle, did any characters from the first one appear/come back? The two Spanish cops and their banter in the first with Smith and Lawrence was GOLD.

Well I did not like the jokes and it was too much cut & paste action movie for me. Hell Chris Rock & Chris Tucker could of been cast in Bad Boys 2 for all I care, I just did not like the humor in it.

Sorry but I am not a Martin Lawerence.

Go ahead and talk about cars while no-selling my question/point about the Bad Boys movies, Ripper.

You...you...

Ah, the racist line wouldn't work here.

That's right you're not. There is only one Martin, after all.

Sorry, my internet is going crazy...I think it is trying to come to grips with someone likeing 2f2f.

But nah, that all the character brought back. I missed the two cops from the first one. Dammit, I can't remember their names now...I think it was Sanchez and Ramerez, but they were pure gold in the first movie.

But all you got was Randle, and Joey. They could have brought back Chet the Doorman.
