So they're doing about a tenth the number of the usual (IE: Non supercard WWE ppvs). The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2003 Not unless Panda Energy decides to spend so much money on advertising that the marks decide en masse to order Hogan vs. Jarrett over Survivor Series. I don't see it happening...but TNA should still do a far better number than they are accostume too...and that is a definite postive. The show should totally put over guys like Daniels, Styles, Sabin...they should bring in Sting and Juvi and Teddy Hart. Pull no punches, put on a huge show... and the next week's buyrate should go up. Then they need to keep it going. They didn't capitalize on Jarrett vs. Raven's buys. Hogan is a good move as a short term project, just so long as he doesn't get NEAR Styles, whether he's champ or not. ANd if they hype it up right then it should go good... but as a few others have said... they have to go all out on this show... Have guys like Raven, Styles and Sting in big matches and the lesser known guys have to have good matches... Sting Vs Raven is something i always wanted to see.. TNA may be getting less than a quarter of buys than the WWE, but I'm pretty sure TNA's overheads are a hell of a lot less than a quarter of the WWE's. TNA isn't paying Kevin Nash 700k guaranteed a year. Their highest non-staff member contract would be Raven, and he'd be getting 80k max. Not to mention their few office staff, small production budget, barely any transport costs and running the same arena each week. A Hogan show drawing 80,000 buys is still as much as a success for TNA as Wrestlemania drawing 900,000 for the WWE. It's all about the scale. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest Doyo Report post Posted October 6, 2003 WWE has tons of national television to promote their ppvs, TNA mostly just has internet and wrestling magazine fans. Even if TNA brings in the Rock, don't expect the buyrate to be anywhere near a WWE ppv. What will the price of this ppv be? Will people be willing to shell out more than the $9.95? Having the show in Canada would be a bad idea because they would have to pay to fly their whole roster, production people and equipment up there. McMahon is able to shell out millions of dollars on stiffs like Mark Henry & Goldberg, while TNA is barely able to pay people like Norman Smiley $300 per show. And to be fair, Panda is pulling the strings, they see something they dont like, and theyll disapearr with the cash, and if that happens, all the decent workers will go, and Jeff will be like, "DADDY, I'm keeping the belt because there's no-one except Cheex and Monty Brown to defend it against" I understand that was probably sarcasm, but we haven't seen Cheex since week 2, and Monty Brown was pretty good for what he did.
