Jeff Jarrett v Hulk Hogan

Who's gonna do the job ?

No doubt they are gonna go all out on this one.

Infact, they'll HAVE to go all out to make people wanna watch it, and the main event seems to have a good ring to it already.

Well the .01 show did about a fifth of what Mania did. And it drew in about 4 times the fans a usual show does.

I thought TNA shows did between 20000 and 30000 buys a week.

WWE shows have been getting about 300k buys. TNA shows were doing 10-12k per week before the 1 cent show. They could be doing alot more or about the same now. Those numbers haven't been seen.

Sorry I posted that before you edited.

Here ya go.

300,000 (we'll just throw that number in) for WWE

25,000 (we'll say average) a week for TNA.

So they're doing about a tenth the number of the usual (IE: Non supercard WWE ppvs).

If you look at the whole month together...TNA probably does somewhere under a third of the buys WWE does in one show.

So, say they get a TV deal, build up this PPV as something special, get Hogan, Sting, other "names" to work the show etc. AND Survivor Series has the most gawd-awful line-up ever seen and does the worst buyrate in company history....

Can they compete?

Posted

Not unless Panda Energy decides to spend so much money on advertising that the marks decide en masse to order Hogan vs. Jarrett over Survivor Series.

I don't see it happening...but TNA should still do a far better number than they are accostume too...and that is a definite postive.

The show should totally put over guys like Daniels, Styles, Sabin...they should bring in Sting and Juvi and Teddy Hart. Pull no punches, put on a huge show...

and the next week's buyrate should go up.

Then they need to keep it going.

They didn't capitalize on Jarrett vs. Raven's buys. They didn't capatilize on the .01 show's buys....

They really need to learn to get out of their own way.

I'm actually happy about this. Hogan is a good move as a short term project, just so long as he doesn't get NEAR Styles, whether he's champ or not. But i do have a feeling Jarrett/Hogan is going to be a title match with a screwy finish.

They might be able to enter the 50,000 to 75,000 range for the show if they pull out all the stops.

And that's going to need a Sting appearance and another decent name or two as surprises.

Bring in Bret Hart!!!

Or Maybe a few of Hogans friends.

It will be interesting...

Good move in the short term....

Hogan will bring in more buys, and he still brings some sort of media attention to it... ANd if they hype it up right then it should go good... but as a few others have said... they have to go all out on this show...

Have guys like Raven, Styles and Sting in big matches and the lesser known guys have to have good matches...

Sting Vs Raven is something i always wanted to see..

Jarrett Vs Hogan

Sting Vs Raven

Styles Vs Lynn

that might be a good start but who knows...

But comparing TNA's buys to WWE's and saying that unless TNA get near WWE PPV buys they're not going to be able to compete is dumb. TNA may be getting less than a quarter of buys than the WWE, but I'm pretty sure TNA's overheads are a hell of a lot less than a quarter of the WWE's. TNA isn't paying Kevin Nash 700k guaranteed a year. Their highest non-staff member contract would be Raven, and he'd be getting 80k max. Not to mention their few office staff, small production budget, barely any transport costs and running the same arena each week.

A Hogan show drawing 80,000 buys is still as much as a success for TNA as Wrestlemania drawing 900,000 for the WWE. It's all about the scale.

WWE has tons of national television to promote their ppvs, TNA mostly just has internet

and wrestling magazine fans. Even if TNA brings in the Rock, don't expect the buyrate

to be anywhere near a WWE ppv. What will the price of this ppv be? Will people be

willing to shell out more than the $9.95?

Having the show in Canada would be a bad idea because they would have to pay to

fly their whole roster, production people and equipment up there. I'm sure the ppv

will be within driving distance of Memphis.

Well, it's $10 for two hours isn't it? So wouldn't $15 for three hours make sense? Although they could probably charge $20 seeing as though Hulk and maybe Sting will be there. That's still $15 less than the WWE. It's a BARGAIN~!

I honestly can't compare TNA to WWE because of the above statements.

McMahon is able to shell out millions of dollars on stiffs like Mark Henry & Goldberg, while TNA is barely able to pay people like Norman Smiley $300 per show. (If multiplied by 52 is still nowhere NEAR what some WWE talent make)

Panda asked them to cut down on the swearing, and the chicks wrestling and stuff.

And to be fair, Panda is pulling the strings, they see something they dont like, and theyll disapearr with the cash, and if that happens, all the decent workers will go, and Jeff will be like, "DADDY, I'm keeping the belt because there's no-one except Cheex and Monty Brown to defend it against"

I understand that was probably sarcasm, but we haven't seen Cheex since week 2, and Monty Brown was pretty good for what he did. Had he stuck around, I think he'd be a fairly over midcarder.

please to god, dont' remind me of cheex. that was just a scary sight
