In the storyline, Edge had to forfeit his KOTR match-up with Jericho a week later due to the injury, which caused him to go ballistic on Edge, putting him on the shelf for a "few more" weeks. When Edge came back, they signed a cage match between he and Jericho, which Edge won. The Unamericans interfered on Jericho's behalf, but Rey and Cena came in for the save (which sent the Unamericans and Jericho to RAW the following Monday).
