OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 - The Maryland State Athletic Commission will likely fine WWE $2000 for having a male vs. female match at the No Mercy PPV this Sunday (Vince McMahon vs. Stephanie McMahon). Maryland does not allow male vs. female matches. A member of the commission said the following: "The commission contacted WWE and informed them that if they followed through with the match that they would exercise their right to issue the maximum fine of $2,000. WWE basically told them, we will have the check for you, we are not changing the match." 1wrestling.com
2GOLD Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 $2000 dollars? THAT'S IT??? Christ Maryland, what a weak fine.
Mystery Eskimo Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Thats $2000 more than the match will draw.
TheFranchise Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 WWE basically told them, we will have the check for you, we are not changing the match. Then why wouldn't they just up the price and make some money from WWE?
Guest nikowwf Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 You can't change a fine depending on the person you are going to fine. Thats like seeing Michael Jackson speeding and then deciding speeding tickets cost $100,000 instead of $100. niko
OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 16, 2003 Author Report Posted October 16, 2003 $2000 must be a standard first time offense fine.
Guest Fook Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 $2000? I guess this ends the speculation about Steph being a cheap whore since not many people can pay two grand to rub up against her for half an hour.
2GOLD Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Well, Maryland may hold the right to arrest them perhaps. I'm sure they have a law he is about to violate and since he doesn't seem to be phased by the fine, I'd go after him.
haVoc Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I guess this ends the speculation about Steph being a cheap whore since not many people can pay two grand to rub up against her for half an hour. That damn match better not be half hour long!!!
Jack_Bauer Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 THey shouldve sued them for millions and ended the WWE. Oh sorry, that's wishful thinking.
Guest Nobody in Particular Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I guess this ends the speculation about Steph being a cheap whore since not many people can pay two grand to rub up against her for half an hour. That damn match better not be half hour long!!! Don't worry, it won't be. It'll be longer. Remember who we're talking about here.

I'm sure they have a law he is about to violate and since he doesn't seem to be phased by the fine, I'd go after him. I'd love to see them bore the crowd to tears with an awful match and immediately as the bell sounds at the end of it, police storm the ring and arrest them both. That would get a pop from the crowd for sure.

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I've never understood how laws that say "can't" actually mean "can, but you have to pay us." And yes, the match will be 20-25 minutes long. That can't be a suprise to any of you. and of course, you knew it was coming... looks like the're actually going to lose money on this match! Heyooooooooooooooo! *rimshot*
OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 16, 2003 Author Report Posted October 16, 2003 You know Vince is going to cheat to win just so he can say "Stephenie didnt' screw Stephanie, Vince screwed Stephanie!!"
2GOLD Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Perhaps they can get a "F*ck em up Maryland, f*ck em up" chant! Really though, Maryland won't touch them cause they don't want to lose the money they get from WWE live events. To them it's just another two grand they are making.
Youth N Asia Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Glad to see they've put a budget into this shit job. All the radio commericals I hear for the show only mention Vince vs Steph. I wouldn't be suprised if it main evented the show.
Guest hunger4unger Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 What a stupid law. Someone smarten up Maryland. Wrestling is fake, yo.
Guest Choken One Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Maryland is an uptight state.
BifEverchad Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 I guess this ends the speculation about Steph being a cheap whore since not many people can pay two grand to rub up against her for half an hour. Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Isn't Maryland the state that use to (or still has) the uptight rule for blading?
Guest Choken One Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 yep...a little blood on the canvas and they will shut the place down... Always wanted Abby the Butcher and Funk wrestle in Maryland just to see what the Sports and Gaming Commish would do...
Guest Trivia247 Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 probably just to piss them off Vince will have Balls Mahoney to run in during a Match and just BLADE big
Youth N Asia Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 The sad thing is they've put more money into that one match then they'll ever put into pushing Spanky, Paul London, Tajiri, Ultimo Dragon...combined!
Guest Metallica Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 They actually believe that Vince Vs Stephanie will draw more than $2000 worth in buys ?
Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 The match will be 30minutes long and end on Linda turning on Steph thus swerving us all and setting up the Vince vs Taker Main Event Steph vs Linda Match before the Main Event Shane vs Kane somekind of Evil Gimmik match for Survivor Series
evilhomer Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 yep...a little blood on the canvas and they will shut the place down... What if somebody gets cut open hard way?
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 yep...a little blood on the canvas and they will shut the place down... What if somebody gets cut open hard way? Lets hope Steph has her period.
Austin3164life Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 This whole Vince/Steph scenario has so many WRONG things about it.
The Amazing Rando Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Yet another reason to see this thing live... The threat of police interference... that's how you know when a show is going badly...when the police so up and actually ARREST people for bad matches. good thing Hunter isn't around...
