Guest FrigidSoul Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Anybody else hear that Eddie Griffin is signing with the Nets
Steviekick Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 I read about Griffin this morning. They also mentioned that Utah could be interested as well because they have a bunch of money under the salary cap to spend. Personally I hope Utah passes, and I really don't think that the Nets really need another unstable person.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Ron Artest missed the morning shootaround saying he overslept today. He was benched the second half of Saturday night's game for what coach Rick Carlisle called "conduct detrimental to winning."

Bird's looking to trade him now from what they said at halftime during the Celtics game last night. Carlisle is Bird's guy and he won't keep players who could start a mutiny. No clue where he could go though.

Guest FrigidSoul Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Isiah loved Artest's competitive fire...I think they got along. But Bird and Zeke don't get along at all...it would be funny watching them try to make a deal.

And then deny ever meeting.
Guest Redhawk Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 But what in the world could the Knicks have that the Pacers want? Draft picks, I'd suppose, but the LAST thing Isiah need to do is start losing draft picks. That's his best way to rebuild the team given all the shitty players attached to shitty contracts they have.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 The Celtics could end up beating GS 120 to 105 tonight. Everything is going down so right now its 79-65 with 2min left in the 3rd

What about trading Artest for Pokemon cards? I'm sure Carlisle could use a Pikachu.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 So what's LeBron gonna score on his birthday? I say he gets 37 and Larry Bird just leaves his seat while shaking his head after Artest does something stupid.
Steviekick Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 I didn't see the game, but LeBron got 22 and Artest didn't have that bad a game, so I guess there is peace in Indy for now...
alfdogg Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Knicks trade Clarence Weatherspoon to Houston for Moochie Norris and John Amaechi.
Steviekick Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 That's an impressive trade...I don't even know who Moochie is and Amaechi stunk it up in Utah the last couple of seasons.
alfdogg Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Moochie was the backup for Francis who had an enormous fro the last couple of years, before going with the shaved head this year. He was their only true point guard, and I think it was very stupid to trade him for Weatherspoon. Â Speaking of fros, Jermaine O'Neal still hasn't followed through on his promise to wear one on retro night.
alfdogg Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 In other news, Payton returns to Seattle tomorrow. Â Also, Ron Artest gave me flashbacks to the Weird Al fake interview with Eminem when reading the Indianapolis Star last night. He said about LeBron: Â "The kid is great, but I don't think no one can't be stopped."
King Kamala Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 The Ricky Davis trade has worked out well for both sides amazingly. The Celtics get a solid sixth man in Davis and a potential starting center in Chris Mihm while the Cavs get solid roleplayers to help the LeBron show. Anyone here about the rumor that the Cavs are going to trade Illgeaukas? If they do, they'll have NO offensive threats besides LeBron (Darius Miles has sucked since arriving in Cleveland).

If they do, they'll have NO offensive threats besides LeBron (Darius Miles has sucked since arriving in Cleveland). Carlos Boozer is a good low post threat. They should look at trading the big white guy as he's always been injury prone and he costs quite a bit. If they could get a Shareef-Abdul-Raheem type for him then that's the way to go.
King Kamala Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Just as I made that post Boozer popped into my head. Boozer is the Charles Oakley to LeBron's Michael Jordan.
Steviekick Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Moochie was the backup for Francis who had an enormous fro the last couple of years, before going with the shaved head this year. He was their only true point guard, and I think it was very stupid to trade him for Weatherspoon. The Knicks really didn't need another point guard. They already have Howard Eisley and Charlie Ward.
ant_7000 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 ^and dont forget Frank Williams. He's starting play well now that he has minutes. So I expect that the Knicks trade Ward/Thomas pretty soon.
Vern Gagne Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 So who deserves more of the credit for the Spurs winning streak. Popovich, or Duncan?

The Knicks really didn't need another point guard. They already have Howard Eisley and Charlie Ward. I'm not saying it was a good trade for the Knicks, it made no sense all around. I'm just saying Francis is really a scorer who just happens to bring the ball up the court. I don't know anything about Mike Wilks, who is now backing up Francis, but Norris was their only real PG. Weatherspoon isn't going to give you anything other than rebounding, and Yao and Cato are doing that very nicely, plus Maurice Taylor has been coming through for them off the bench. I don't see Norris or Spoon getting much action.
razazteca Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 So who deserves more of the credit for the Spurs winning streak. Popovich, or Duncan? The assistant coaches mainly PJ Carlismo.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Ron Artest pulled down Pierce's shorts trying to make Pierce miss the inbound pass. There was no foul called but Pierce hit a 3 right in Artest's mug right after. Â I'm surprised Pierce kept his composure...I would have pulled Artest's jersey over his head and repeatedly punched him in the face.
King Kamala Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I missed that, I hope Truth was wearing a jock strap or something under that. Kinda reminds me of a story about a ladder match at an indy show I saw (The guy who was pansted's overness crashed after that match) .
alfdogg Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Pierce was wearing huge shorts underneath, so it was no big deal. Even as a Pacer fan, it wouldn't have been totally out of line to give Artest a technical, IMHO. Nice to see Miller finally getting a little agressive on offense...13 points in the 4th I believe, and only his second double-digit scoring game in 11 games. We go to Dallas and SA in a week.
King Kamala Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 The Celtics really suck (but coincidentally will probably get an 8 seed in the East) but I have to hand to them with their roster they could be a LOT worse.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Sixers are giving the Spurs a run for their money.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Sixers end the 13 game Spurs winning streak, in San Antonio and without Allen Iverson to boot. AI returns monday, and this should give the Sixers a real boost.
