Guest NCJ Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I see arguments about this all the time, but to me the argument should begin and end with KG. I know numbers don't tell everything, but career averages of over 20 11 and 5 are just ridiculous. And if you bring up the whole hasn't gotten out of the first round/great players make their teamates better comments if you put anybody other than Shaq or Tim Duncan on those old T-Wolves teams they would be getting the number one pick in the draft. Tim Duncan is an incredible player and is better in the post, but KG can drive, post you up, make free throws, shoot the J, dunk on anyone, and even step out beyound the arc. My top five list is: KG, Tim Duncan, T-Mac, Kobe, Dirk Nowitski.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I don't know about most complete, I'd have to watch a lot of tape of guys on D to see who really holds up, although I've always felt KG was a bit soft. But, If I could have any NBA player to start a team around it would be Duncan. I really don't think that the Spurs w/out Duncan were better than the Wolves w/out KG. And we all know the end results of last year.
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I cannot disagree. KG has been compared to Magic by some people and that's for a really damn good reason, too: He *is* the complete player. Post-up, off the dribble, spotting up from outside, block shots, steal the ball, AND lead the team in assists? The man can do it all. The only other players I've seen that can even come close to what KG can do are Webber and Duncan, but neither of them have Garnett's range.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 KG can do more than Tim, that's for sure. But Tim dominates at all the things he's good at. KG is usually very good, but not dominant in some categories. IMO, you can't go wrong with either man.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted October 29, 2003 You know who would have been on top of this list a few years ago? Grant Hill. That's too bad what's happened to his career, although $90 million is a very fluffy pillow to cry into.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 As good as the 7 foot Power Forwards are in the league I do not think that they are the complete player. I would go with Jason Kidd, Kobe, KG, T-Mac, Tim Duncan as the Top 5.
Guest NCJ Report post Posted October 29, 2003 (edited) In what way do you see KG and Duncan as being incomplete. I honestly don't really like Kobe Bryant much, but even I will admit he is a top five player. However, his defense is totally overratted. Kobe plays hard against the people he is suppose to play hard against, but he consistently gets burned by the likes of Jason Williams, Bobby Jackson, Mike Bibby, Troy Hudsen, and anyother middle of the road guard. He is a great player and he is one of the most complete players in the league, but he is not a better all around player than TD or KG. I even think McGrady when healthy is better. Jason Kidd is a great player and he should have been on my list, but he has one major flaw he can't shoot. Shaq is the most dominating player in the league, but he can't bring the ball up the court, dosen't have alot of range on his jumper, can't make free throws consistently, and honestly dosen't play defense well enough for a man that large. He should be dominant on that end as well. Edited October 29, 2003 by NCJ

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Grant Hill ironically broke his ankle in his last career game with the Pistons, playing hurt in the playoffs. Wow, he certainly was a soft ass punk wasnt he Pistons fans. People here actually call him soft after he basically ruined his career trying to win in the playoffs
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 What about Nowitzki? He's able to rebound and play inside near the level of Duncan, and Garnett. He's able play the perimeter near the level of Kobe, and McGrady.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I am not sold on Nowitzki's offensive inside game, in comparing to KG and Duncan. Nowitzki is too in love with the perimeter. He usually scores in the paint when he's on the break or in transition. He has a decent baseline fadeaway, but he struggles if a halfway decent defender is with him on the block. Dirk also flops around a lot when he plays the low post, which gets him to the line. Duncan and KG absolutely punish anyone who has to guard them on the block. That's too bad what's happened to his career, although $90 million is a very fluffy pillow to cry into. I guess it's up to his wife, singer Tamia, to bring home the bacon now. In a few years, I hope to see Yao on this list. KG is probably at the top, but still has room to improve - i.e. he needs to come through in the clutch. But this year could be the year that (loath that I am to say it) T-Mac stakes his claim up top.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 30, 2003 1. Garnett 2. Kobe 3. Duncan Duncan is a better player than both of them, obviously. But KG and Kobe are two of the most versitile players in a long time.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 30, 2003 In a Couple Years I can easily see LeBron heading the list. Right now... 1. KG 2. Kobe 3. Duncan 4. McGrady
Guest NCJ Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Dirk is not a good one on one defender at all. When he becomes decent on D he moves up the list. Kobe is so overrated on D and he isn't as great of an outside shooter as some think. He is a streak shooter that can kill you when he gets hot(see game last year with 11 three pointers), but Garnett actually shoots the 3 at a comparable percentage. Duncan goes hot and cold on his free throw shooting. One year he shoots in the mid 70's, and the next he shoots in the low 60's or even 50's. This KG producing in the clutch talk is ridiculous. I think Jordan is the greatest player of all time, but even he couldn't have done more than KG did in the playoffs last year. Garnett hit big threes, grabbed boards, made the right pass, and basically played about as perfectly as you can play in that situation. This is the year that they get to the West finals atleast. As far as Lebron goes I think the kid is going to be the one. He has the athletic ability of a Finley or young Malone, and the unselfishness and ability to see the floor like a Magic. What impressed me most however was the way he wants to win. If you saw the interview with him after the game the first thing he said when they asked him how he felt about his first game was that he should have helped his teamates more and been more agressive when the Kings made a run. When they asked did he exceed his personal expectations, he replied I can't really think about that coming off a loss. You can't teach those qualities in a player. I really didn't expect that kind of response from him. If you would have asked Kobe, Mike, A.I., McGrady, or just about any other great player that ever lived after their first game with that many doubters around and you play that well in a loss what kind of response do you think they would have gave??? The kid is special, and I felt like I was watching history last night. If he can remain humble and continue to improve he will go down as one of the best ever. Guest NCJ Report post Posted November 3, 2003 I love Ray's game, but he can't spell one on one defense. CWebb would be great if he could stay healthy. AI can't be conisidered because he can't rebound.
