Guest Fook Report post Posted October 31, 2003 According to the spoilers, there was supposed to be two more matches on Smackdown: TWGTT vs FBI in a 3 on 2 handicap match, and Rikishi/Scotty vs Bashams. Why would they be cut out? For more talking? For a Hardcore Holly promo? Fuck that shit. And it's not like they're meaningless matches or anything. The first match continues the "Heyman mad at TWGTT" angle and is meant to start a possible face turn. The second match is to get the Bashams over as tag champs by beating an established team. I know it's not the best match in the world, but there are worse things than having credible tag champs.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 This is similar to a question I asked in yesterday's This Day in History thread regarding Christian's Euro title win 2 years ago on SD. Maybe they just didn't have enough time to air it.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 With Stephanie gone, I have to be on TWICE as much to fill the McMahon Quota Isn't it obvious? Taker/McMahon!! It's the match of the century, you know?
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Okay, do I HAVE to go through the definition of "sports entertainment" again?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 I already posted the meaning of Sports Entertainment. BTW, 13 minutes of Wrestling on Smackdown.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 To be fair, they DID have a Smackdown where it was nearly ALL wrestling (the Ironman). So this kinda balances it.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Remember it's Vince's grand scheme to have a WWE with no wrestling at all.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 I must be the only one who remembers that they said they were going to cut down on the wrestling aspect of SD to make it more like RAW and focus on the backstage angles and such. Ridiculous, but all this was planned a while back, so it shouldn't be such a surprise.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 What's sadder is that Vince McMahon will headline WM under this assertion..

Come on there's no excuse for not even a fourth of a wrestling show to be wrestling.

Velocity preview for Nov. 1, 2003 This week’s Velocity features a pair of exciting matches when WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tajiri faces Mattitude Follower Shannon Moore, and Rhyno squares off with the high-flying Billy Kidman. Also in action will be Orlando Jordan and the new tag team of Paul London & Spanky. Also, in one of the wildest Halloween parties ever seen, Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie faced off in a Trick or Treat Costume Contest that produced some shocking results. Bored 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 C'mon Dynamite, how can you hate a Smackdown that pushed BENOIT? Hey if they cut out the last hour and 53 minutes of the show then it would have been the best Smackdown ever.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Because Benoit being pushed does not make Dawn and Torrie any the more palatable?

Guest Dids Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Part of me wonders if they added the second Heyman promo after they realized that Vince wanting Taker's family raped needed a little softening. I don't think Dawn and Torrie were a waste of time (I cannot be mad at Dawn Marie's body being covered in chocolate)- I thought the promo to introduct two more useuless hosses was pointless. I don't see how they think they'll get any heat for a Survivor Series match that features 3 people who weren't really on the show until 3 weeks before the PPV. Why not have Hardy and Moore as part of the match, get people that are actually over with the crowd in the match? Shesh...
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Vince was only on the show twice, and those were two backstage segments and a total of 5 minutes. That was pretty good. What pissed me off was the fact it seemed like they were trying real hard to have trhe least amount of wrestling possible. I think they were going for a record. About 12 minutes in a two hour show. That's 1/10 of a wrestling show wrestling.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Blame Dawn/Torrie/Tazz/Tajiri and that whole waste of 10-15 minutes. So fucking pointless.
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Why not have Hardy and Moore as part of the match, get people that are actually over with the crowd in the match? Simple. Because they're not hosses.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2003 Because Benoit being pushed does not make Dawn and Torrie any the more palatable? Sure it does. Just think of Benoit powerbombing them... or better yet, think of Benoit rolling around in chocolate and hitting on Funaki.
Guest JacK Report post Posted November 2, 2003 It all reminds me of the scrolling newsbar thing I saw on "CNNNN" about two months ago . . .it was something like 'Two hour wrestling show features one hour of wrestling' . . . that's GOLD! It's funny cause it's true . . . oh wait, it's NOT, they DIDN'T GET CLOSE!!! (For those of you who don't know, CNNNN is a sort of comedy show here In Australia mocking CNN and a whole lotta other shit like Jackass, with funny crap on the newsbar.)
