Open the Muggy Gate Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 1. He should pay homage to Shawn Michaels by giving him self the nickname "RHK'.... the Rest Hold Kid! 2. He uses a superkick in the innovative wrestling of the NWA... bland.... keep counting...
Guest Dids Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Ain't nothing wrong with a nice super kick. Plus- he's at least got a reason to use it.
Guest One Trick Pony Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Haven't they been trying to move the division away from spots?
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 They have been trying to cut down on the spotiness of the X division. AT LEAST Shane can take moves well (because his offense is terrible).
Styles Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 He's not terrible. He's simply being pushed beyond his abilities as the X champ. He's not better or worse then Christian.
Guest Joe Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I've always been a Michael Shane fan, from the first time I saw him wrestle (in RoH, Crowning A Champion was the show I believe) and am still very much a Shane mark...He's pretty good in the ring, yes he works a more toned down style then most X Division guys, but that's part of the problem with TNA having the X Title as the only secondary belt...If there was a TV title or something, Shane would definitely be a better fit for holding that belt then the X Division belt... Also, Shane won the belt at a time when there wasn't need for a title switch...I hate constant title changes...A title should only change hands when it feels right, when the current champions run is obviously up, or when the challenger is just ready to be the champ...Chris Sabin's title reign was still going quite strong...He had no reason to lose the belt, and Shane didn't need to win the belt...That was a huge mistake on TNA's part... So, I guess what it comes down to is Michael Shane doesn't suck, but the way he's booked by TNA definitely doesn't do him any favors...
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Well, that and Shane is incredibly boring on the mic and in the ring. At least Christian has charisma and mic skills.
Guest Joe Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Actually, I find Shane pretty good on the mic...I don't think he has the most charisma, he's certainly nowhere near says Daniels or Styles, but Shane can play the cocky heel pretty damn well...
SamoaRowe Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Christian has also devolved as a worker. Christian 2000 > Michael Shane now.
Mecha Mummy Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Well, Christian in 2000 was a tag wrestler; there's a difference. These days Christian's, for some stupid reason, fallen into the "Heels need to use rest holds and chokes to get over instead of, y'know, PUTTING ON GOOD MATCHES" mentality.
Guest dvkorn Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Michael Shane is a decent wrestler but i think as has been stated numerous times by people... he doesn't suit the X Division... I think maybe in a tag team with someone else who isn't doing much is a better avenue for him than in the X Division...
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 They never should of put the belt on him, and Sabin should still be holding the X Title.
Guest Stevie Franchise Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I really liked the Michael Shane/Joey Matthews tag team in PWF. They really seemed to mesh very well with their asshole heel persona.
Jack_Bauer Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I think Micheal Shane is a really good wrestler from what I have seen from him, and I HAVE seen a few matches. The problem I have is that he goes into restholds too much. As for him being the X Division champ, he should never have won the title. Chris Sabin should be the champ.
RedJed Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Like someone said, he can sell well and thats about it. He was alright in the ultimate X match as far as playing his role right in the match, but since then, all of his matches in TNA (and all before) were subpar in my eyes. Nothing I saw from him in ROH other than his ladder match with London impressed me either.
