Where are those clips from...

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this belongs here, but:

In Bowling for Columbine they show clips of different people shooting. There was a clip of a man getting shoot in the middle of a freeway, a man running up to a woman and shooting her in the head on live TV, and some old guy on a podium putting a gun in his mouth and it accidently going off. Seeing that all these things happened on TV, is there any info on what happened?

I dont know about the first one......but the second one was an interview and the guy who shoots the woman is her jealous ex-husband who thought she was cheating on him.....the one with the guy on a podium was a famous guy who was is court for some type of fraud or something. In a little press conference he pulls a gun out of a manilla envelope and shoots himself in the mouth.

The have these clips on orgish.com

I don't remember seeing all these scenes in Bowling for Columbine, sorry.

The man who shoots himself in the head is Bud Dwyer. Someone linked me to that once, not telling me what it was, and for 5 minutes I was weak-kneed. I think I was actually praying at one point, as it put some religion in me for a few minutes. D:<

The Bud Dwyer video gave me nightmares for a while.

I was a big fan of the guy in the video afterwards who said "Please people, let's have some decorum." Of course, Dwyer has a fuckin faucet of blood pouring out of his nose at that point, with the top of his skull missing. After I found it, I showed it to a few friends........every guy was sickened. The only one who wasn't was my crazy yet fun ex girl, who watched it over and over while I cowered in the corner, lol.

Wait a second here, I don't watch Mikey Moore "documentaries" anymore so I want to get this right.

Mikey used in this anti-gun film an image of the Bud Dwyer suicide?

I guess ol' Tons of Fun would have rather had Dwyer set off a bomb at his press conference.

Then again, had Dwyer done that he would have taken some reporters with him. Mikey might have a point here...

The guy on the freeway was a local man from L.A. who blew his head off with a shotgun during the after school cartoon block. He was an AIDS patient who was mad because the HMO he belonged to wouldn't authorize him for some care he felt he needed. But what you didn't see was him set his truck on fire with his dog and himself inside. He jumped out of the truck real fast after that and then took his flaming clothes off and grabbed his gun and that was it. His dog was killed in the fire. I know this because I saw it live and it was talked about until all the details came out. And now, when they have car chases or something and they think something might happen, they pull away from the action.

Mikey used that scene, too? I remember that.

Didn't know he killed his dog.

Good thing he shot himself, becasue he deserved a fate much worse than that for killing his pup.

Unless, of course, he gave the pooch AIDS, too...

I guess he didn't want to die alone.

I'm not so sure that he did. I watched the Oscar screener and didn't see it. I would KNOW if I damn well saw it, that video affected me like very little else so far.

Perhaps it's in some uncut version of the DVD or something?

No way I'm watching "Bowling..." to find out...

I won't pay money for a Mikey Moore movie.

I do buy his books though. I consider that if the power goes out and it gets cold in here, I'll have soemthing with which to start a fire. The book (which was okay but occasionally overboard in the case of "Stupid White Men," haven't read the newest one) is simply a bonux.

Moore is actually the uncle of the girl that sits next to me in Govt/Macroeconomics AP. He came to our school last year to give a presentation, and he was kind enough to bring his Oscar with him. The man is HUGE in real life.

I also enjoyed his new book. Found it to be quite the interesting read.

I just saw Finding Nemo tonight, and I feel like those sharks in the movie, Mike.

*Must...fight...urge...*

So, do we need to start reciting "Mikey is fat, not food"?

How 'bout "Mikey is PHAT, not fat"?

Mikey has a section in his uplifting new book where he tells people who are not wealthy that they have no chance to succeed and better themselves in America. He says they will always be struggling to pay the cable bill, etc. Of course you know who/what group he blames for his delusions.

Way to look out for the common man, the little guy, Mikey. Nice going.

In the case of the above, The Media Whore pretty much says much of the same thing. The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer.

However, whereas Bill thinks that following his Ten Steps To Being Smug is going to LOOK OUT FOR YOU, Moore does what he usually does... Nothing.

When he's not lying through his teeth as in BfC, Moore can actually present very good questions, no matter how much his detractors here wish to deny it. However, for all the questions he asks he never provides and answer. The same is true in Bowling, where appearantly Canadians have better gun safety because they don't see violence in their news all the time, yet at the same time Moore says you can't blame entertainment, media, and Marilyn Manson for the violence.
