JoeDirt Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 I love Wrestlemania 9. The atmosphere at Caesar's Palace rocked. I love HBK/Tatanka despite the dumb finish. Steiners/Headshrinkers is good. Double Doinks! Perfect/Luger is good. Bret/Yoko isn't too bad either! I don't know why, but I like this show and everyone else calls it the worst WM ever. I also like Summerslam 95, despite the weak card. The awesome ladder match...Hakushi/123 Kid...a Bret/Yankem match far better than it had any right to be...and let's not forget Horowitz vs. Candido!!! What are some shows you love that everyone else hates?

Looking back, I'm one of the few people that was watching at the time but it was all quality until Hogan showed up. Despite the Ice Trains, Charlie Norris, Shockmasters, and Equilizers - there were some top quality matches like Davey Boy / Regal, Cactus / Vader, Vader / Sting (pick one), Vader / Flair, anything with the Hollywood Blondes, and Scorpio & Bagwell (yes, Bagwell sucks but it was hilarious watching him trying to dance alongside Scorpio). Especially Rude & Perfect vs Piper's whole team and Heenan's hilarious act in the ME. Plus the all time greatest Jesse comment: "Gorilla how could you say Hogan didn't pay off Hebner? Anyone who touches hogan gets DQ'ed!!" All of 1993 from both companies. 1993 is my fav wrestling year ever, it's when I first started being a hardcore fan. I was a HUGE Sting, Bret, Perfect, Blondes, Money Inc., Savage, Rude and Horsemen mark. Yes I even marked for Paul Roma. I still remember how hyped I was leading into Battle Bowl 93...and to this day I haven't seen that show. Fall Brawl 97 - A good Wargames match, Eddie/Jericho and some other fun matches. Really underrated PPV.

I've always been a fan of the classic Survivor Series style, so anything from 1987 to 1991, and then 1993, is adored by me, despite '87 being the only installment that is critically acclaimed. '93 was a show that I watched again and again after I got it on PPV and that's why I can't ever hate it. I even find enjoyment in the much-hated match with the Doinks and Bam Bam's team. Heenan's commentary is hilarious, and most people don't even acknowledge it because they're too busy trying to fit in and shit on the actual match.

Granted, I'm biased because I was there live, but get rid of the main event and it was actually a pretty solid show. Invasion doesn't get as much love as I think it should either. I'd agree with Survivor Series 93 being underrated, but not even Heenan's commentary could save that goddamn Doinks match.

Any idea why WCW didn't release all it's PPV's(I believe Souled Out 98 was also never released)? I don't think that anything post-1997 was released by the WCW's parent company (Turner Home Entertainment). They might've decided to go with an in-house setup (WCW Home Video?), while still paying the same licensing and promotional fees to Turner. With WWF moving from Coliseum Video to in-house WWF Home Video, late 1997-early 1998 had a downtime where neither of the Big Two's pay-per-views were being heavily manufactured. Degeneration X and Survivor Series both are VERY rare; additionally, Royal Rumble got a VERY late release date.

With the exception of Nash-DDP and Konnan- Stevie Ray, I think it's a pretty solid card top to bottom. I also love Survivor Series 89 and 90 mostly because they were some of the first PPVs I ever saw. I used to think the Gobbeldy Gooker dancing with Gene Okerland was funny....not stupid funny just plain funny *hides head in shame*. And I still mark out like a bitch for the Ultimate Survivor match which

In 97, it was switched over to Warner Brothers. From 97, the only shows I don't have are Souled Out and Fall Brawl and that's because for whatever reason they weren't commercially released (I taped Road Wild off TV). The same holds true for Souled Out 98, Spring Stampede 98 (which I have taped off TV), and SuperBrawl IV (Flair/Vader Thunderdome; also taped off TV). No clue why they weren't released. Maybe someone forgot about them...

Bischoff reverses the decision of the Piper/Flair match causing Flair to yell and scream. As he makes his way to he back, he turns to a 10 year old kid (approx) and bellows, "SIT DOWN KID SHUT UP! . . . SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!! SIT DOWN! SIT DOWN!! WOOOOO! WOOOOOOO!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!" All the while, one kid is giving him the finger, one guy is cracking up watching this, and the kid Flair's yelling at is just casually shaking his head saying 'No'. Respect your elders, ya punk.

It was viewed as mildly disappointing at the time --- though if done now, people would cream their shorts. Good show --- save the crap opener.
