I thought this film was absolutely great, and I'm sure there are some other fans of it at the board here. The whole question of whether or not it's okay to kill bad people is interesting.

I eagerly await the sequel "All Saints Day". Apparently the brothers go back to Ireland to visit their mother and somewhat starts copycatting them back in Boston, except they're killing people the brothers wouldn't. So now the brothers are in trouble with everyone and have to clear their name. That's what I've HEARD, I make no claims about the veracity of the report. However, Sean Patrick Flanery, Billy Connelly, and Norman Reedus will all reprise their roles. Haven't seen Willem Dafoe anywhere so I think he's taking a pass.

I figured he would draw a blank on Paul Sorvino but Ray Liotta? That's the main character in the movie. How can you have that in your sig and not know who he is?

I always get hell 'cause whenever we watch it they keep making fun of me because of fighting "the bad guys." Anyway fun, good movie but my friends (girlfriend especailly) like it a bit too much. Meh, I'll see All Saint's Day with friends probably.

Goodfellas is fine and good, it's just that Boondock Saints has that little something extra to it that made it enjoyable. There was never a point when I was wondering when Boondock Saints was going to end. I was glancing at the clock many a time towards the end of Goodfellas. One man's junk is another man's treasure, I suppose.

Is there a particular reason for this "holier-than-thou" attitude that you're sporting, or are you just an ass all the time? Boondock Saints is a great movie. It was recommended several times by good friends of mine, so I finally got around to watching it. I found the usage of classical music to be great, especially during the "firefight" scene. Dafoe does a great job as Smecker, and I didn't see a whole lot of this "scene chewing" that you referenced. The only downside to the movie that I saw was that the mafia members were made out to be incredibly weak and inept at all times. All in all, a great film.

Boondock Saints was a fun movie, but in all honesty it's a glorified B-movie. Seriously, what's up with Willem Dafoe's "There was a FIREFIGHT!!!" scene? And how seriously can you take a movie featuring Ron Jeremy (in his dramatic debut, I wonder?) Again, fun popcorn flick. Goodfellas is art, though.

Corey_Lazarus Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 The more I watch Boondock Saints, the more I like it. First time I saw it was after all the hype from my friends, IRL and online, and all the messageboard hooplah I've read about it. Fucking hated it. Was trying to find the plot in it, tried to pay attention as best as I could, and couldn't decipher why half of what was happening was happening. Then I watched it again. And liked it. A lot. Now I'll pop it in and watch it from start to finish without taking my eyes off the screen, noticing little things I didn't before. It's really growing on me. The flow of the movie is interesting - DaFoe's character explaining how he believes the murders went down (usually right, save for that "6 guys with guns" theory) and then the flashback of the actual scene - and the typical indy "deep" aspect by asking whether what the McManus brothers were doing was right or wrong was fun to inject into a popcorn action flick. Soundtrack is terrible because of how most of it's stock music because they couldn't get the rights to the songs they wanted to use, but it's a really good flick. Definitely worth a watch by all means.
