Least favorite thing about Sportscenter

I'd have to say the "Budweiser Hot Seat." Not the Hot Seat, mind you; the "Budweiser Hot Seat." I think it's goofy how the interviewer -- usually Mike Greenberg -- tries to be "tough" with the athletes. Por ejemplo; he'll ask Hines Ward who's the best WR in the NFL. Ward will be like, "Oh, I don't know, there's a lot of guys." Then Greenberg's like, "You have to pick one." Or what? You're gonna have John Clayton come and rough somebody up? Or he'll ask Baron Davis, "Did you hate Paul Silas?" And of course any athlete is going to give a diplomatic answer, but the Greenberg's like, "No, really, do you hate him, yes or no?" I'm not just pointing the finger at Greenberg, because I've heard his radio show and he's not like that with his guests. I think ESPN is telling whoever does the "Budweiser Hot Seat" that they're supposed to be "hard-hitting" for that segment.

In second place....I really hate that damn "I love shots of Gina Lee" band singing about every week of the NFL season. Don't we have enough recaps on Sunday night with the "NFL Blitz," various reports from Clayton and Mort and everyone, "Sound Off," "Fact or Fiction," the "Six-Pack" thing, not to mention the bare highlights of the games and Chris Berman's "Top 10 plays that are more like 20 plays?"

The thing that I hate most about sportscenter is the way that they basically ignore hockey. I'll watch a hockey game at night, and see a huge hit, or an amazing goal, or an end-to-end rush that's capped off with a great save, and think to myself: "that'll be on ESPN in the morning." And then the next day I'll watch sportscenter and they'll do like 2 minutes of hockey for the 6 games that were on, and instead dedicated most of the show to pro & college basketball.

Just my two cents, ESPN ... there's a lot of us that find dunk after dunk fucking repetitive, and not worthy of half the top-ten list.

I hate Stuart Scott. I wish death to his vocal chords so I may never have to hear him talk about the ba-dunk-a-dunk or something else again.

The Gina Lee band thing is annoying too as was previously pointed out

My biggest complaint about Sportscenter, besides Chris Berman(well actually he is NFL Shows mostly), would have to be the way they preview a story and highlights going into commercial break and say "NEXT" so you stick around to watch that certain segment and then it doesn't even come on for three or four more segments. Frustrating.

I know a lot of people don't care about the WNBA, but I don't like how Sportscenter completely ignores the league. I'm not asking that they give it the same air time as NBA highlights or even NHL highlights, but give 'em SOMETHING. For the series-deciding game of the WNBA Finals, Sportscenter showed a grand total of TWO plays, and spent more time talking about how Karl Malone's daughter had one more championship than he did. During the regular season I'd see maybe one play from one game, and in the playoffs maybe one play from two games. The thing is, it's not like they can't spare the time. WNBA season is during the summer when the only stuff going on is baseball. Instead of sparing a few minutes a night on WNBA, they'd do those unfunny Kenny Mayne skits or harp on the same story for 30 minutes (as we've seen with the Keyshawn Johnson story). But what was really dumb was they'd do segments on how bad the WNBA was doing financially, yet not realizing that if Sportscenter threw them a bone every now and then, the league would be better off. What's even worse is that ESPN would show WNBA games occasionally, so why not try to promote your own product? They don't spare on promotion when it's the Bobby Knight movie, "Junction Boys" or "Playmakers."

What do I least like about Sportscenter? How about everything now. Its has become completely unwatchable on almost every level. What is even the point of the 6:30 EST/3:30 PST Sportscenter now? Anyone?

Stuart Scott still having a job obviously makes it even worse. Come on your telling me he brings in the "urban demographic" just because he's black? The guy comes off a complete dork to me and has about as much street cred as Beano Cook. The guy is also the biggest ass kisser of athletes, next to Chris Berman.

Also its mainly a little thing and I don't know if anyone else cares but I'm so annoyed that when they show highlights now, at the end of the highlight they only flash the score in the corner of the screen and don't put up the screen where they show the and stats and little facts about the game like they used to. Its a little thing but it really makes a huge a difference for me.

I hate having to look at Stuart Scott. That lazy eye gets further and further from the center every time I see him. Creepy.

I don't know what the problem is, does he have a glass eye and a lazy eye or what. What I dislike about ESPN Sportscenter now is the over use of rap catch phrases such as BOO YAAA or recently the HEY YAAAA from Outkast, everytime I watch ESPN I think of the SNL skit with Ray Romero saying "Sweet Mama Jamma".

Oh and the 5 hours of Sportcenter reruns in the morning.

DEATH TO THE BOTTOMLINE!!!!!!!!!!!

It's fine on ESPN2 during a hockey game, so that I can check scores easily, but it SHOULD NOT show scores DURING A SHOW. They can have top headlines: "Gary Bettman murdered in cold blood; Fans don't care" or something, but taking the scores out would force them to actually cover OTHER sports like hockey, WNBA, etc., so they aren't going to do it.

The only people that I can even watch on SC now are Mike Greenberg, Kenny Mayne (WHERE IS HE?!), and...that's it. The rest are so into their catchphrases and bullshit that it's become a fucking show of unfunny one-liners. ESPECIALLY Kevin Frazier. I want to kick that guy in the goddamn face.

The nightly Top 10 is crap...as most of the time, it's a dunk or something and I'm staring at the tv like..."that's a #1 play?!"

Like a few weeks ago they had the play during a Flyers game where Hackett got knocked away from the crease and Marty Murray (a forward) jumped in the crease and made a save with just forwards equipment on. The play was incredible. It was #6 on the Top 10. #1? A guy doing a slam dunk.

Oh, come on...you know you'd hit it.

Ok are you expecting a outstanding play everynight. They simply inform you about sports, they dont play themselves. They cant give you a Edmonds diving over-the-shoulder type play every night.

And if you have such a problem go watch whatever crappy hosts and shows they have on Fox.

That guy who does the monday recap of how bad his football gambling went this week. Its obvious the picks are made after the fact.

No love for Mr. Just Living a Dream Nick Bayki? I have to agree that his segment is getting tiresome. The wife is so much better at it.

I hate how they tell you what is going to happen as the highlight of the play is rolling, but before the play itself actually happens.

And I hate Mike Greenberg.

Don't even get me started on the "Bottom Line." I agree, it's fine to run the scores/news from the day during a game. But during a show? Here's what always happens to me: I'm watching NFL Primetime, and they're showing highlights from a game that I not only didn't see, but I didn't see the score yet. So it's like 4th quarter, the highlights are getting kind of suspenseful, my eyes drift down to the bottom of the screen and there it is: "Colts 35, Jets 32." Thanks for killing all the drama, ESPN. It happens during Sportscenter, too. I'm watching the Pacers-Celtics highlights on somehing, and before the highlight package is over the bottom line shows the final score. Annoys the shit out of me. They either need to not do the bottom line during shows, or have someone make sure the score of the game being highlighted at the moment doesn't flash on the screen until after the package is over.

What Happened to Dan Patrick?

Other then the Keyshawn Interview and sometimes for the 6 Sportscenter, he never shows up...

He's one of the VERY few people I like and the fact he is a hometown boy doesn't hurt either.
