Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 With the Parent Television Organization, or whatever its called. Ok, here comes the information BIT BY BIT. Now how would any lawsuit prevent WWE from putting ANY of their matches on DVD?
Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 23, 2003 People seem to not be in a helpful mood today... The lawsuit with the World Wildlife Federation is what everyone is talking about. The WWE is not allowed to sell or use any video with the WWF Scratch logo visable, or use any audio containing the letters, WWF, in that order. They only way that they can do this is by blurring out the logo (which is on all the turnbuckles), which is a huge pain in the BUTT one would assume for the video editors. This is why no video from mid 1998 to mid 2002 can be used on DVDs.

I don't see how anyone can keep them from using their OWN FOOTAGE that came before the lawsuit and the name change, that's fucked up and there has GOT to be a way to get around that, besides blurring it. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 They can use the footage, they can't use the logo. I never heard about the "can't say the word WWF".
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Cactus Jack and Captain Mike Rotundo vs. The Rock'n'Roll Express Think they can get the rights to any of his Deathmatches with Funk from Japan?
Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 23, 2003 They can use the footage, they can't use the logo. I never heard about the "can't say the word WWF". On the Flair DVD, it is clipped whenever WWF is mentioned, so I would assume that they aren't allowed to.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Reeeeeeeally, that's very interesting.
Elbarto997 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Well if they clip the stuff with WWF being mentioned, I don't see whats the problem. And the video editing people get paid by the hour when they blur and pixelate stuff, don't they?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 It's distracting. Vince should just suck it up and give the WWFund whatever they want to in order to use the name and logo - it would save him more $$ in the long run. Reading the Quarterly Report, it seems that one of the reasons that they aren't making the money they should be making off DVD's is because of the lawsuit. I believe they are suing the fund for damages.

Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted November 24, 2003 One match I would like to see is a 2/3 Falls match with Eddie Gilbert. I haven't seen it, but I heard it was good. Plus, it hasnt been on any other DVD.(i.e. Mindgames)
Elbarto997 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Hmm... I thought the WWE didn't get their hands on the ECW Vault.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Hmm... I thought the WWE didn't get their hands on the ECW Vault. Last I heard, they got their hands on all of it. Which really sucks cause it means odds are high there will never be another ECW DVD. As for the death matches, weren't clips of them on the Faces of Foley DVD? As for the death matches, weren't clips of them on the Faces of Foley DVD? Well I never saw any footage of ECW Rey Mysterio on the 619 DVD. As for clips of Mick's deathmatches...I think there were some clips of them on Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops, the Hardcore DVD, and many video packages in the WWE when Foley sets up to take on HHH. Guest Brian Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I need to watch those old Foley/Gilbert brawls again, but for the most part I remeber them being very good and laying the groundwork for his later stuff. I definately need to watch those again. It's brawl-around and very creative.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Some of his ECW stuff with Dreamer and Raven should be thrown in.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I can take ONE, and only ONE match being re-issued for this DVD, or I'm not purchasing it. I guess I'd like to see: -Mankind Vs. Triple H, Canadian Stampede IYH (Never Seen It) -Cactus Jack Vs. Big Van Vader, Havoc 93 -Mankind's debut promos from '96, and inital attacks on Sparky Plugg, Undertaker, etc. -Dude Love & Steve Austin Vs. Owen & Bulldog (RAW '97) -Foley's jobber tag Vs. British Bulldogs... -Cactus & Abdullah WCW montage I dunno. I don't really think we need another Foley DVD/Video already. We've got 3 Faces, Hard Knocks, and that other one, something of a Madman (don't have it)
Elbarto997 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 Some of his ECW stuff with Dreamer and Raven should be thrown in. Amen.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 Cactus Jack/Raven v. Tommy Dreamer/Terry Funk from November to Remember '95 Was that the Fire Chair match? That definitely needs to be on there.
Elbarto997 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Anything from ECW, WCW, and early WWF should be in there. Something tells me that in the end that at least 3/4 of the extra matches on the DVD will be WWF matches.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 The fire chair match was three weeks before November To Remember '95, in a match between Cactus Jack and Tommy Dreamer. It was the same show where Mikey won the ECW Title. Interestingly enough, I have the Dreamer/Cactus match on tape from ECW TV. The fire chair incident was entirely clipped out, and the only reference to the incident was Terry's bandaged arm, the cause of which was not mentioned. Adam 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 The fire chair match should be on there, as well as some of Micks heel work where he sucks up to WCW and WWF.
Elbarto997 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Well if it wasn't on the ECW tape, then you can only bet that it won't be on the WWE DVD.
