I think the difference was that Buffy didn't really know how to kill them before

But Anya's not-so-shocking info was just that they can be staked, which Buffy had been doing for like years.

Buffy tried to stake it before and it no sold. Then Anya says they can be staked...it's just harder, and suddenly they're jobbers. Whatever...

I hate the final battle.

I thought the no-selling and general badassyness of the first Ubervamp had something to do with the ritual used to summon it, myself.

My favorite Season Seven eps are CWDP and Storyteller as well.

I do know that, but what I meant was that I don't think anything's really been given away in here. All people are doing is saying "I liked such and such an episode" and I don't think anything's been severely spoiled in here. If you're going to talk about what happens in the end of season six, I can understand using spoiler tags. But not for just mentioning episode names.

I rate season 5 as the best season. However, I haven't seen 2 and 3 in ages, and I want to rewatch season 7. Without Hush season 4 would have been almost a complete throwaway, but the good thing about buffy is that almost every episode in every season (minus some of season 6) has something relevant to other seasons. I watched a bit of season 6 the other day and was amazed when they refered the invisibility thing back to season 1 with the invisible girl. Buffy has amazing continuity.

I thought everybody LOVED season 2?

Maybe it's just me, but I loike the older season less and less. I felt that, with a few exceptions, Season 2 was over-rated. "The Gift" had me in tears at the end, and any show that can make me cry puts it at the top of the list, which is why 5 is my favorite season.

And the continuity is always great in the show. It's amazing, really, when you think about it. Lesser shows wouldn't even bother.

I don't really find that with Buffy, I love the earlier episodes. Angel? Different matter, for some reason watching most earlier episodes is just weird and I can't get into them as much. It annoys me actually because I loved characters like Doyle and old Cordy, I probably will always rate AtS above BtVS but one thing Ats has against it is that it just doesn't age as well.

Every episode besides Hush??? What about:

"Something Blue"

"Superstar"

"Restless"

And to a lesser extent:

"Doomed" (Just for Spike alone in that episode)

"Fear Itself" (Hey Xander making fun of the fear demon is hilarious)

DOOMED

After Spike tries to stake himself

Xander: After all we've been through, you should have trusted me to do it.

Willow: Xander!

Xander: What? He want's to die, I want to help.

Fear, Itself

Xander (In a cutsie-cutsie voice): Look at the little fear demon! Look at the little fear demon!

Giles: Don't taunt the fear demon.

Xander(suddenly worried): What, can he hurt me?

Giles: No, it's just tastless.

All season for did was set up everything that happened in season 5.

The same way what season 6 was for season 7, but season 6 was good. Maybe it is because I liked all of the drama that happened.

Some people were giving away stuff that happened in the final battle. It was all minor, but he wouldn't know that.

I think it did more than just set up Season 5. It was all about change and moving on.

Umm...

RRR said it best

Season 4 was AAAAAAAALLL about developing the characters for Season 5. Tara and Willows relationship, I found, was better in Season 5. As well as Xander and Anyas. Season 4 was an adjustment period and often those periods are uncomfortable. The relationships were well established for Season 5 and dealing with Dawn & Glory & Joyces death.

Doesn't mean it didn't have it's on themes and I can't glean anything from it.

Season 4 was all about change:

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Change to College

Spike's change

OZ leaving

Willow changing into a lesbian

Anya becoming more human

Giles changing into a demon (to a lesser extent of the theme)

Buffy getting a new relationship (Riley)

I used spoiler tags because some of that is spoilers

It wasn't just a transition...change became a theme that drove the season. Yeah some of that set up season 5, but that happens a lot in the Wheadon-verse.

Yeah, that is true. It was about change, but the season didn't do anything for me.

I believe the season wasn't as strong as 3 because Angel just started. This was the first time Joss had to work on two shows, so his mind wasn't into Buffy that much.

Sorry Mangrove, I'm not used to using spoiler tags in Buffy threads. I'll do it from now on.

"It was all about change and moving on."

.. yes, changing and moving on to Season 5 :)

I found that Angel actually aged pretty well. Mind you, I've only seen the eps.'s once since originally aired, while I've probably watched Buffy 3 or 4 times through (depending on which season).. but they were a lot better than I remembered.

Everything changes and moves on to the next season in Wheadon shows. That's not just season 4.

That's the great thing about Buffy and Angel. Everything continues in some way. The storylines lead to other storylines, but that doesn't diminish the worth of the seasons themselves.

Things in season 4 lead into season 5 and things in 5 lead into 6 and so on and so on.

I thought you said that you have been watching Angel reruns.
