Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 "I'm A Slave 4 U" Dear lord people, I beg of you, HELP ME WITH THIS FUCKING ISSUE THAT I HAVE WITH THIS SONG. Ok, let me try to explain. In this song, in the chorus, there is a weird little sound that plays over and over, and I know I've heard it before. To me, it sounds like something from something having to do with Pac-Man. Maybe an old TV show, or SOMETHING. Do any of you know what I'm talking about? It's something that I used to hear when I was younger.

It does sound like something though... dropping something in a video game seems right, but I'm not confident enough to say Donkey Kong Jr.

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 The resident pop music mark will have to say: "Baby One More Time"-sentimental favorite. I was hung up on this song before her first CD even got released. "What You See Is What You Get" and for the slow jams, none is better than "Born To Make You Happy" I'm not a huge fan of the new CD though.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I actually dug that ballad of her's "From the bottom of my broken heart"...
spiny norman 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I don't mind her new song with Madonna (I was reading somewhere about somebody complaining that song wasn't on Madonna's Immaculate Collection). I also like Oops I Did It Again and Lucky.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 "Baby, One More Time" Why? 1) When it came out, I was still accepting of pop music and I admitted to thinking it was a nice, little song. 2) I used to hear it once a week on a countdown show and I enjoyed it on a weekley-only basis. 3) I wasn't aware of how much I would grow to hate her 4) She was cute at the time. The song is pop in it's best form. The songs I would come to hear from Spears since have been total crap.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 "Crazy" was okay the first time, since it featured none of her "frog in my throat" moaning, but then it got overplayed to hell and back. Without a shadow of a doubt, however, my favorite Britney Spears sound is silence. OR maybe a gun going off, followed by a "THUMP!," then the silence. I would absolutely not hit that, she is not going to transcend the decades like Madonna did, her career is basically on the slippery slope since started turning into a skeez and now America has realized she can't sing and is just waiting for the inevitable Playboy shoot when she gets desperate. I can't wait until she finally goes away.

spiny norman 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I doubt she'll transcend the decades like Madonna. I think music will have a massive shakeup too soon for her to last for ages. Also, even now in the pop world, there is a large amount of anti-Britney sentiment as people prefer to go to the Avrils (and she's the greater of two evils, at least Britney doesn't pretend not to be manufactured). I see Christina as possibly being able to do it, but I doubt Britney's ability to do so.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I see Christina as possibly being able to do it, but I doubt Britney's ability to do so. Christina can...and will. That girl can fucking sing, when she sings. She's got the type of voice that can put me in a trance, it's just so awesome to me. Britney on the other hand, the only thing she has going for her is the sexual sound in her voice, sounding like all she wants to do is fuck you. It's a nice gimmick, but it isn't going to allow her to stay around. As has been mentioned, people are finding out, if they haven't already, that she can't really SING worth a damn. SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Are you implying that Britney really doesn't want to fuck me? Yeah, Aguilera, as much as I loathe her, as a real talent. Get her some better material and she will go far. Avril Lavigne was a cute little novelty for about a week. Then i started noticing things about her that reminded me of my feelings towards a certain Ms. Britney Spears about four or five years earlier.

I'm sorry to crush your hopes...you can still have those dreams though, heh. As for Avril Lavigne, I don't care either way about her really. I can stand her music MUCH more than Britney's though, and that's the truth. I can't stand to listen to anything by Britney for the most part, other than maybe her first few songs. For Avril, I can listen to it and be ok with it, like I said, I love it much more than Britney. Back to Christina though... ...she has a voice that you rarely come across, and she needs to realize the power that she has right now, so that she can begin to form a career that will not only be meaningful, but also quite lenghty. Hell, I can see Christina being around in MANY years from now. I know many hate her, some just as much or even more than Britney, but she IS a true talent. Her voice can just touch a soul, I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's one thing to just LIKE a song, but when you hear someone sing something that actually touches your heart, your soul, then takes you to a whole nother place... now THAT'S what I call talent. Once she gets better material, and only then, she'll go as far as she wants, and she'll really show what she can do.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Yeah, Christina, whether she admits it or not, is still in pop star mode. She has changed her image and all, but only because the teen pop image was fading. She really needs to stop being so image-consious and just concentrate on having a career that she can be proud of. So far, I'd say she has a long ways to go.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I can't fucking wait untill that happens, I really can't. Britney doesn't even have the ABILITY to have such a career, she just doesn't. She'll only be able to last as long as people are still curious about her. Once she gets a bit older, actually DOES pose for Playboy...it'll be over. Unless she can learn to sing, heh. Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 You just reminded me of an interview where Spears bragged about never having had formal singing lessons. My response was "No shit." LMAO, I remember her saying that and I remember saying the same thing. I know people just...locally that could sing rings around Britney, but let's not kid ourselves...we ALL know that her voice means shit to just about everyone. She shouldn't be so eager to run off with a new slutty type image, she should've kept it more innocent, a younger look...remained more of a tease, than where she's going now. That's the big thing that's kept so many people wanting to see and hear her. She should've kept all that going for as long as she could've. I don't see how anyone can take a Britney song and a Christina song and listen to both of them, and in any way say that Britney has more talent, I just can't understand that at all. It's just because a lot of people base what type of music they like soley on image. Whoever has the better image is the better artist to teenyboppers everywhere. I used to get rediculed back in middle school for the my taste (Ben Folds, Radiohead). All the while, I just couldn't figure out what was so special about N'sync.
