To You Power Ranger Marks

Recommended Posts

Anyone remember when the NINJA FUCKING TURTLES appeared to fight against, then join up with, the Power Rangers?

My God.

Dino Thunder debuts this week, I'm fucking there.

UYI

Yeah I remember that. That was back when Fox had a live action Ninja Turtles show which really sucked cause those costumes looked wrong.

There was also a girl Turtle whose colour was LIGHT BLUE. What? There arn't any other colours outside of orange, red, purple or blue? That really turned me off that whole series. I'm really, really digging the new cartoon, comic-based, one though.

That's what the next incarnation of the series will look like.

I miss the days of VR Troopers, Super Human Samari Cyber Squad, WMAC Masters, and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

I never watched WMAC Masters, but the other shows were apart of my weekday afternoon T.V. lineup back when I was 8 in 1994-1995.

4:00 on FOX-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

4:30 on FOX-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

5:00 on channel 11 in New York (before it changed to the WB)-Super Human Samuri Cyber Squad

5:30 on Channel 11 in New York-V.R. Troopers

6:00 on Channel 13 in New York-Ghostwriter

Ah, yes. Every weekday back in 1994-1995! I miss those days...sort of.

what the fuck.. the Ninja Turtles were gonna fight the Power Rangers?

Indeed they were.

The Ninja Turtles were teleported from New York by Power Rangers In Space Super-Villian, Astronema, to infiltrate the Astro Megaship and use it against the Rangers.

Same formula as the Green Ranger saga from the first series. The Turtles were under a spell, and once it was broken they joined forces briefly with the Power Rangers to fight a horde of Quantrons, the series equivelant of the Putty Patrol from season one.

Great stuff for TMNT marks like myself.

Evil Green Ranger = awesome.

Yeah. Greatest thing of the Power Rangers... ever.

The Green Ranger was a complete pussy when it came to actually fighting, though. He'd always be drained of his powers or screw up or something. Plus, he couldn't actually climb into his Zord, so he'd be a sitting duck a lot of the time during kaiji-style fights.

Although, the Ultimo Dragonzord looked damn cool.

Green Ranger a pussy? WHAT?

This is the guy who single handedly presented the five Power Rangers with their asses one multiple occasions in a five on one scenario. He kicked the ever loving shit out the Megazord (granted, with the aid of Scorpina & Goldar) and seemed to do quite well with the situation regarding his Zord.

Yes, at times he rode on top of its head, however Tommy also used to control it from a distance, thus keeping himself out of harms way, unlike the other Rangers who must be inside their Zords to control them.

If anyone isn't a pussy, it's the evil Green Ranger.

Yes he could. He did in the episode where they made a football team of Putties.

I have no idea why I know this, but I somehow remember it from hanging around with a bunch of my Mom's friend's younger kids 10 years or so years ago.

And now, I go back to discussing less embarassing TV options: Like pro wrestling.

Evil Green Ranger > Good Green Ranger. It's been shown time and time again that when you transition from bad guy to good guy, your power decreases and your wussiness increases. Examples include the Green Ranger, the Thunder Rangers, Venom and Magneto. Exception: Blackarachnia, so maybe this doesn't apply to females (or robots).

Oddly enough, I thought that Adam was a better 'good' Green Ranger than Tommy was. But that's just me.

Although, the Ultimo Dragonzord looked damn cool.

I haven't been to Power Kangers in a while. Anything new there?

Anyways, new series. I'm already not liking the chick, she comes off as a weird cross between Hillary Duff and Lita Ford. But then, it's hard to replace Sally Martin (Tori) and her sweet BUTT. I think the pink-haired girl from Ninja Storm is in Dino Thunder as well (as a new character).

And since the production is all in New Zealand, I'm hoping that this means the return of the crossovers...

Man, this is cool. isn't he like 30 now, though? Oh well. I was a huge mark for Power Rangers back in the first couple seasons, and i've been interested in them again via my recent nostalgia kick. ABC Family just showed the Green Ranger and White Ranger intro episodes the other day, which I taped. I maye check out this new series.

My bad, missed the "evil" part.

As for the Zord thing--I don't remember him getting inside the Zord, but even so, the sound of the flute could lead someone right to him and get him whacked by a huge monster. :P

Wasn't Superhuman Samurai Sybersquad on Ch. 11 at 7am (or 7:30 am) as well?

But that was my basic viewing pattern back in the day (sometimes I watched Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego instead -- I think it was on at 5 on either Ch 13 or 21---can't remember which)...

I saw the Tommy marathon last weekend. Return of the Green Ranger Pt. 1 and King for a Day Pt. 1 and 2 rule it.

Well, whichever was the PBS station, most likely.

Now I have Rockapella running through my head...

I saw the Tommy marathon last weekend. Return of the Green Ranger Pt. 1 and King for a Day Pt. 1 and 2 rule it.

Super Human Samarai Cyber Squad debuted in November 1994 and didn't move to the 8:00 a.m. weekday afternoon timeslot until February-March 1995. V.R. Troopers also spent time in the 3:30 weekday afternoon timeslot.

Speaking of Super Human Samuari, is it just me, or did that show have the stupidest "Call-To-Action" catchphrases in the history of superhero shows? "Let's Samauri Guys!" "Let's kick some giga-BUTT!" "Pump up the volume!" And the fact that one of the guys could say whatever he wanted and he instantly transformed into the Cyber Squad member. And let's not forget the blonde surfer guy that joined the cast towards the end of the show that used to say "Surf's Up!" as his catchphrase?

Power Rangers had the famous "It's Morphin' Time!". V.R. Troopers had "We Are! V.R.!" and Beatle Borgs had "Beatle Power!" SHSCS has got to be the show with the worst "Call-To-Action" catchphrases. They didn't even DO anything except say the catchpharase, and BAM~! They turned into the Cyber Squad. (I know Matthew Lawerence would swung on his guitar, and the jock guy would slam his drum sticks together which exploded with electricity.) But all Sidney did was jump, and the other two guys didn't actually do anything. They didn't have no morphers, no communicator watches. And I always laughed whenever Matthew Lawerence would talk as Super Human Samauri. Don't know why, I found it funny.

Shit, I can't believe I still remember this stuff 10 years later!

And I agree, it will be tough replacing Sally Martin and her booty with someone else.

Oh yeah...now I remember. I distinctly remember the 3:30 timeslot for VR Troopers then. Sometimes the first PR ep @ 4 was an old one and I'd watch Animaniacs on Ch. 11.

Thank god Katrina Devine is coming back for another season (albeit as a diff. character, not Marah). RAWWWWWWWWWR.

Um the rangers were dino rangers to begin with were they not? What's the difference this time?

I think this is following the recent trend in trying to re-hash old fads.

Ninja Turtles has returned to their early, original comic-book origins.

He-Man has been re-created with the original storyline strongly in place.

Power Rangers are returning to their old concept of dinosaurs as Zords etc.

The storyline has basically been the same throughout though, so that makes little difference here.

It's true, it's a bit more simplistic with Power Rangers. Since they're taking a lot of footage from the Sentai show, Aburanger (?), they've got to take the stuff they're given and work around it. Which, frankly, is part of the fun of Power Rangers.

Anyways, my thoughts on the 2-parter.

- Dammit, they should've had Tommy morph. That woulda been kickass.

- Typically, the Ranger "season" takes place in the year it airs. This is the 12th year, and Tommy left the Rangers in the 5th year. Meaning it took him SEVEN YEARS to become a paleontologist. Not outside of the realm of possibility, but still quite a stretch for a guy who was always late...

- Katerina Devine - hotter with dark hair. It's not even close.

- Story is about as hokey as normal, but at least they manage to note the fact that these three aren't exactly buddies.

- Mention of Lothor further ties in Ninja Storm to the regular PR universe.

Unfortunately I've not been able to find any air time for here in Australia. I did try and contact ABC Family, however could not find any means to do so.

'Tis a shame, considering our cable provider here has only just started showing the Wild Force series.

Go to rangerboard.com. They have a link among one of the posts to a BitTorrent download of both episodes.

You poor bastard. Unless it's the Time Force crossover or "Forever Red", you're better off avoiding the Wild Force season.
