AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 First of all, I respect your opinions. That's why I need your help to make the ultimate Black Sabbath CD. Greatest hits CDs just don't cut it for me, that's why I've taken it upon myself to make my own "Best of" collection for Black Sabbath, with your help, of course. Just post your top ten favorite Sabbath songs, and I'll assign points to them (10, 9, 8, etc.) and the top songs will be chosen for the CD. This is how greatest hits albums should be chosen. If this is successful, then I'll do it with more bands. I'll post the results and the CD I made after a sufficient amount of lists have been submitted. BTW, it's probably gonna be a double-disc. Thanks!
Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Compress all 10 CDs into one? That's an impressive goal Now if you meant 10 songs, here's my choice (most of which would be seconded by any BS fan) Ozzy era "Black Sabbath" "NIB" "War Pigs" "Paranoid" "Iron Man" Dio era "Heaven and Hell" "Neon Knights" "Children of the Sea" "Mob Rules" "Turn Up the Night" Yes, I know the Ozzy era stretched out over seven albums while Dio only had two, but I'm admittedly much more partial to the Dragonmaster than to Captain Burnout
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Off the top of my head, in no order: Iron Man Black Sabbath The Wizard NIB War Pigs Heaven and Hell Planet Caravan Supernaught Children of the Grave Faries Wear Boots
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Yes, I know the Ozzy era stretched out over seven albums while Dio only had two It's 8 and 3, respectively. Dio came back for Dehumanizer in the mid 90's when it was just Tony Iommi and friends, and you probably forgot Technical Ecstasy from the Ozzy era. Here's the ten songs I would put on a Sabbath mix, in no order: A Bit Of Finger/Sleeping Villiage/Warning -Black Sabbath Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath Fairies Wear Boots-Paranoid Into the Void-Master of Reality Solitude-Master of Reality Symptom of the Universe-Sabotage Snowblind-Vol 4 Spiral Architect-Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Wicked World-Black Sabbath Hand of Doom-Paranoid The best of the first 6, no Dio, and NO Tony Fag Martin. If you want to include their late-Ozzy and post-Ozzy action, by all means, go ahead, but don't say I didn't warn you. At least make it a different mix, because it really was a different band. AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Well, damn, I meant top 10 songs. If a mod sees this can you change the title, please?
Guest Burrito Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Air Dance Spiral Architect After Forever Electric Funeral Black Sabbath Planet Caravan Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Symptom of the Universe War Pigs The Wizard FYI: There is a soon to be released Ozzy Era Black Sabbath Box Set. It was supposed to be released a few months back, but I think they bumped it to January or February. A definite pick up for any die hard Sabbath fan. P.S. Happy Birthday Ozzy
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I'm a sucker for "Changes". Put it on there for something different.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I'm a sucker for "Changes". Put it on there for something different. Me too. It's a guilty pleasure. The new one with Ozzy and Kelly is terrible. I literaly have to change the station when it comes on the radio/MTV.
Guest Burrito Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I haven't heard the Ozzy and Kelly version of Changes because i'm afraid it could totally ruin my perspective on it.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 It is terrible with a ~!. So bad. I can't believe they suckered Sanctuary Records into rereleasing Kelly's album (let alone one with a horrible rerecording of "Changes"). I bet Sharon has them promised Ozzy or something and that's part of the deal.
Guest Burrito Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I really wouldn't doubt it. If I had a label, it would take that and much more for me to sign and release a Kelly Osbourne cd.
Guest mesepher Report post Posted December 5, 2003 include the entire first record
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 6, 2003 That's pretty good advice, really. Splintering that album up into a compilation is a shame. That's only 5 tracks (if you've got the American version like I've got,) so just pick 5 other Sabbath favorites from the above list. If it were me, I'd put Hand of Doom, Symptom of the Universe, Solitude, and Fairies Wear Boots.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted December 7, 2003 The Kelly/Ozzy version of Changes is one of the truly most horrendously bad thing I have ever seen. I can't help but feel bad for Ozzy on some level. Good Lord, that CAN't be the same guy from Sabbath.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 7, 2003 It really isn't. I mean, maybe so, biologically speaking, but in terms of his career, no way. Ozzy 70-75 was a truly gifted musician, then he started getting way too drunk, and shit caught up with him. Basically, he's still the same way, only old now. He's another one of those sad stories that becomes a brand name moreso than a band. Sort of like Kiss, and on some levels, The Beatles. The Beatles had the talent and the material and the importance to rise above it, but you can stick those guys on just about any merchandise, and it will STILL sell. It's impossible for him to come back and write an album like Sab's self-titled, or Paranoid. He's simply at a COMPLETELY different stage in his life, which yields completely different material. I mean, c'mon, he sang Electric Funeral, and then that wretched Dreamer single off that TERRIBLE album. The man's had it as a musician, he's living solely off his name now, and that's been tiresome for quite a while already.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 The Dio stuff isn't what I call real Sabbath, moreso just curios for those who want to hear the best stuff after Ozzy. Here's the top 10 songs as I see it, and I'll try to include most Ozzy albums: 1. NIB 2. Paranoid 3. War Pigs 4. Iron Man 5. Children of the Grave 6. Snowblind 7. Killing Yourself to Live 8. Hole in the Sky 9. Sympton of the Universe 10. Junior's Eyes I tried to include something off every CD with Ozzy. I just couldn't think of anything off Technical Ecstasy that was truly ESSENTIAL stuff though.
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted December 10, 2003 In no special order: NIB Paranoid Iron Man Children Of The Grave War Pigs Sweet Leaf Fairies Wear Boots Snowblind Black Sabbath Killing Yourself To Live
