dubq 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 I've never seen it, but I've heard good things about it. Can anyone fill me in with some info on this series? [ I'm too lazy to go net-surfing at the moment ]
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Well, the main character is played by Nathan Fillion, the same guy that played Caleb in Buffy, so you KNOW it must be good
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 I still say Caleb should've gotten his own show. I can picture it now, and it fills me with a warm happy feeling that I usually only get when I'm buying plastic silverware or on cargo pants day.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 I feel like a tricky David-motherfucking-Blaine kinda guy right now. I heard Firefly was supposed to be good, so I told me mom to get it for me for Xmas. Well, I still have absolutly no idea what it's about.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 I saw the first few episodes, and was just really really bored. I was expecting more sci-fi, and got a western.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 I'll probably give it a shot. I saw five minutes of one episode once, but I was never able to watch it.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Firefly is one of those "you like it or you don't" shows. Joss Whedon obviously has a lot of faith in it, and the small fanbase is pretty diehard, but personally I thought it was crap.
dubq 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Hmm, methinks a rental is due before purchase.
Mole 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 It's a Joss show, I like two of Joss' shows, so I'm going to get it. Plus EW gave it an A, and I trust them for some reason.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 The thing with firefly. It was boreing when I first saw it. Fox pulled the first ep because they said it was too much talking and not enough action so the first show the public got to see, the characters were already introduced and such and they didn't explain it in the show. So you are just thrown in with all these people you don't know and don't know any of their motivations. So the show gets canceled and Fox airs the oiginal pilot. This was a GREAT ep. It explained all of the characters completely, you knew why they were there and why they acted how they did. Then I watched the shows I taped again and it was like watching a whole new show. So I am guessing it will be wonderful to watch on DVD. And I am not a "Space" show fan. But when given the characters for what they are, and allowing them to have a backstory, the show had a entire new diminsion and you will get to see that on the DVD set. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Which was the pilot - the only firefly episode I saw (and liked) was the first one they aired up here on SPACE which has Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The young girl getting shot, the reverend releasing the "cop", the "cop" getting shot immediately by Caleb after taking someone hostage (which was AWESOME btw). So if that's the show you're talkin bout Rip, definitely rent that one first and see if you like it.
Mole 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 Not all rental stores offer TV shows for rental. At the Blockbuster near my school, they don't have Buffy. At the Blockbuster at home, they have Buffy season 4. So I think I won't get to rent it. I'll just wait till X-Mas.
Special K 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2003 I gotta say, as a huge buffy/angel (besides least not the last 2/1 seasons of each, respectively) fan, I say no, don't buy it. It's an all right show, and some of the performances are winning, but all in all it's just pretty average TV in my book. Some snappy lines, which wiull feel familiar to any whedon fan, some good special effects, strangely slow pacing, and a couple genuinely annoying characters make this a buy far down the list when you have such luminaries as Homocide 6' under Buffy Angel Mr. Show (please) Newsradio Hell, I had more fun watching the not-so-self-consciously -silly-Alias than watching Firefly. Again not a bad show at all, but not worth buying.
spiny norman 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2003 I realise this is completely off topic, but I was just curious. Is it possible to be either The Wonder Years or Twin Peaks on DVD?
