Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 (edited) I'm Minnesota. I still hate you. And frankly, I'm only Pittsburgh because I know I can do a better job with them than "Mr. Lemieux". And I have. MWAHAHAHAHAHAH! I still need another star player. Edited December 19, 2003 by Vitiated Spirit

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 (edited) WOOO! I managed to get rid of Berezin (good for nothing that does NOT deserve 3.3M when he's got a pitiful 14pts) along with Sutton and Edmonton Oilers 4th Rounder to Florida to get Huselius (30pts and 0.9M) and Krajicek (98 POT) so I'm quite happy with that. Hopefully Huselius will make a quick impact in my lineup and on the score sheet. Edit: Looks like Huselius was a great pick up. He got 3 pts in his very first game with me in my 10-3 blowout of Edmonton (hahaha, my hometown team got blown out). Also showing promise was Meloche (3pts) and DeFauw (3pts), so I'm quite happy. Big game from the rest of the team as Chavayada only got 1 goal this game. Edited December 19, 2003 by Vitiated Spirit
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Ok... Seriously, I suck or something... Ok, I'm playing the Blue Jackets. They have the worst PP and frankly, aren't one of the better teams in the league. Easy win, right? ...sighs... Well everything was going my way till the very last period. I'm up 2-1 and was quite happy when Chavayada slammed home what I thought was the dagger of the game to make this a 2-1 contest... Marc had only let in one bad goal and it was forgivable as my team was making a poor line change at the time. So my fault there. As it happened my team fell apart. I let in a powerplay goal because for some reason I check a guy but he gets up and does that "I'm down, but not out", yet I responded quite quickly with anotherl making it 3-2, to silence them till the half way point. That's where my stupid defenseman picks up the puck in the fucking crease which automatically puts the damned thing in the back of the net and now it's 3-3. Worse, it was on the PP, so ANOTHER goal on the PP is scored. Then the bloody defense coughs up another mistake as the defense leaves the man totally open for an easy pass and now it's 3-4 with 26.3 seconds left. I'm thinking it's over, but happily Huml gets the tying goal and we head to overtime. Half a minute in and I lose. Once again. Like it wasn't even that great, just a simple little one timer and I lose in OT once again. Now I've got bad things on my hands in lots. Chavayada is my only consistant player that gets a ton of points (worse yet, he STILL has 1/4 of my team's goals), my team will play shitty whenever Fleury is in net for no other reason that it is Fleury, my team can't protect on the PK for the life of it (expect a new PK I created, they rock so I need another unit), and now I can't win in OT. Bloody hades, this sucks in a lot of ways... I mean, I'm happy I'm in first place in the conference and in the league, but if I can't get these in control by the time of the playoffs, I highly doubt I'll make it past round one, let alone a shot at the Stanley Cup. Edit: Any advice cause this is getting a little redundant and ugly.
the max 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Well, I'm guessing that you deal Fleury then. What's his salary?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Well, I'm guessing that you deal Fleury then. What's his salary? You see, the thing is, it isn't Fleury. Like this last game, was all the rest of the team. I mean the guy had NO chance on any of them. Only the final dagger in the coffin did he have a chance to save that. This is my biggest problem. It isn't that Fleury can't do the job (or Potvin), but rather my team just sort of "no shows" at times and fucks me over.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 I don't have the patience nor memory card space to run a season, so I just play lots of exhibitions. I also have to switch the sweater colors because I'm anal about that I guess.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Yeah they added a LOT of retro sweaters to the game from 2003. Everything you could imagine is available except the Hartford Whalers. The Sens even have a striped sweater which I believe is the original Ottawa Senators from the 1910s. Also: I think the Canadiens should adopt the white sweaters with the blue stripe from the 1940s as permanent uniforms. Those look cool.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 I figured out the problem with my team. It isn't the fact that Fleury or Potvin is in net, or I'm on PK, or whatever. My team can't play defense and is a single entity offense... Meaning that if I didn't have Chavayada, I'd probably be in the doghouse right now. Edit: Holy shit, I suck at home. I'm fucking 8-6-0 at home, yet on the road I'm 14-3. I'm so boosting my home stats now.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Boosting your home stats?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2003 Boosting your home stats? When you start a Dynasty Mode, all the facilities and staff that normally make you calibured teams are gone. You've only got a few scrapings and then waht you add on yourself. With the more wins, trades, key aquisitions you make, the bigger your GM Ranking becomes. Earn 100 points and you upgrade traits and stuff. Like when you get an upgrade, you can get a Cold Tub for your home team to make it less hard on their bodies to cool down and thusly increasing their attributes from 1-2 pts more per home game. The higher you get those stats, the better your team will play. Also, after lvl 5 (which is standard) even the average player suddenly becomes more of an all-around player. MrRant 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2003 That sounds..... kinda cheap.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2003 That sounds..... kinda cheap. Not really... I mean, I'm just getting my first upgrade and I've only played 30 some games. But then I had to hire like Comrie, Lumme, Nolan, and Potvin to get anywhere NEAR 100pts. Cause winning 20 games only brings it up like 2pts a game. So they got me my other pts. And really everyone's sub-par right now so it isn't cheap at all. It's basically like you have an old computer and a brand new one came out. You'd want the new computer, right? So you save up your money and work your ass off to buy it... More or less how this works.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 In this Dynasty mode, are you actually playing the games too or are you just G.M.? I don't know why after all this time I'm answering this, but yes, I was playing the games. I'm playing a season as the Leafs, but i want to edit the rosters of other teams (put Kippursoff on CGY). Am i able to do that somehow? Nope. During the season, you can't deal for the other teams. Sucks, but what can you do? Besides, Kipper would only be replaced with Turek the moment the game had a chance to put Turek back in.
mister foozel 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 i dont know but what I DO know is that the cpu in this game drives me nuts! so fuckin frustrating so fuckin impossible to beat
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 What level do you play on Foozel? I play it on Medium, as long as I am feeling up to it, I usually don't have too much problems winning. My suggestions: -make use of slapshots if you have the guys to do so. My top line of Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Lous, and Pavel Demitra can just kill teams using this method. - use quick plays(I think that's what they're called.) I like to go aggressive on offense and use the puck side attack on defense. These can usually help you coordinate your team. One problem I noticed almost immediately was that I was doing one thing while the rest of my team was doing the exact opposite. - take your time. One of the biggest problems I had when I switched to medium level was that I ran at such a brutally fast pace that I often gave the computer a lot of unneccessary, and good shots. Once I slowed down the pace and took control, the game became way easier. - also, if you're playing a dynasty, look for bargains. Draft picks are fairly useless in this game at the beginning. Pretty good players with tons of potential can be had for cheap because the game is a nimrod. I usually try to get Barret Jackman(I got him for a 3rd and 4th), Stephen Weiss (2 4ths), and Pavel Demitra(A 1st or part of trade with Jackman and Jamal Mayers for a 2nd, a 4th, and Andreas Johannsen, as I wondered what the heck the game was smoking to propose THAT one.) Anyway, it is not THAT hard when once you get some practice and the hang of it. The only frustrating part for me anymore is having to deal with the idiotic computer getting 2 stars because their goalie stopped 44 shots(and gave up 6 goals), while some forward who scored a goal long after I stopped giving a shit is somehow magically more worthy of a star than my entire who had the wonderful ability to score BEFORE my team was down 5-0. It just puzzles me why they are even remotely deserving of anything after my team steamrolled them.
mister foozel 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 ill admit i was letting off some steam before, the game can get really frustrating but it isnt like conventional hockey games, and startegy is really important in this game, so it gets annoying when i cant just go down the ice and score without a play, but it makes sense why so i wont complain ill try taking youre advice and slowing it down, oh and im playing on medium with the canadiens, so maybe thats part of it too later
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 In every Franchise I've played I always traded away Defauw, but he always amounted to something decent after a few years. I picked up Wayne Unterluggauer in the draft my first season, and by the next season he was one of my top players.
