EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2003 http://channels.netscape.com/ns/celebrity/...d=20020602NY120 MARATHON, Fla. (AP) - Teen pop singer Aaron Carter is severing his personal and professional relationship with his mother, alleging she took more than $100,000 from his bank account without his permission. ``I feel betrayed by my own mother,'' the 16-year-old said in a statement Friday. His parents, Jane and Robert Carter, have been his managers for 10 years. They separated in March and are seeking a divorce. ``All I can say is that as Aaron's mother and manager, I'm very, very saddened and disappointed by these allegations,'' Jane Carter told The Associated Press Friday night. She declined further comment. According to Aaron Carter's publicist, Brenda Loughery, an accountant notified Robert Carter several months ago that his wife had taken the money out of Aaron's account. She had signed a promissory note for the missing funds. Aaron, younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, is filing for legal emancipation to cut off his relationship with his mother and to take other legal actions on his own behalf, Loughery said. Much of the missing money had been earned during Aaron Carter's recent solo tour, Loughery said. The singer, who is conducting a full audit of his finances, also discovered unpaid bills he thought had been settled. ``I worked hard for 10, 11 hours a day, not including school and press appearances, and I come home and I owe money!'' he said. Carter is living with his father in Marathon and is seeking a new co-manager. He said the problems began when his parents separated. His latest album, ``Most Requested Hits,'' was released last month.

EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2003 People request to listen to this nonsense? Here's to you Aaron, may you fall into a downward spiral of heroin addiction and sticky fingered hookers until you wake up in the gutter. Aaron is a good example of it's not what you know, it's who you know. Because, if it wasn't for him being the younger brother of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys you know damn well Aaron would be stuck being played on Disney radio at best. Didn't think so. ok, well first off, what was the money taken for? is that every stated? Also like I said, if you are under 18 all your earnings technically belong to your legal guardians anyway. So technically they could have taken every penny if they felt like it. (Not saying it would be a good thing to do).

If I got ahold of your account information, but used the $500 I took out to feed the homeless, it'd still make me a thief. My guess is that she took the money out of his account to continue being well-off despite being in the midst of a seperation.

EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,13115,00.html Aaron's Mom Lashes Out by Josh Grossberg Dec 16, 2003, 10:50 AM PT The Aaron Carter mess just got messier. Just days after the pop-singing younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter fired mother Jane as his comanager, sued her for allegedly taking $100,000 from his bank account without permission, and announced he's filing for legal emancipation, Jane Carter is firing back. "I did not want to involve the press in these unfortunate and very private family issues," she said in a statement Tuesday. "However, since [estranged husband] Bob released his irresponsible statement to reporters last week, I felt that it was necessary to state the facts rather than make false allegations designed to hurt me, my family and my son's career. I am confident that the truth will come to light in a court of law." In a not-so-heartwarming tale just in time for the holidays, the kid crooner best known for such Disney Radio confections as "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)" and "That's How I Beat Shaq," issued a statement on Friday saying he felt "betrayed" by his mother and announced his plans to sever all ties with her. The family feuding began when his parents separated over the summer following an argument at the family's Florida home in which father Bob allegedly struck Jane. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. According to Aaron and Bob, after the couple initiated divorce proceedings, an accountant conducting an audit of their assets discovered that Jane had tapped a portion of the teen idol's earnings from his solo tour and signed a promissory note for the missing funds. Aaron, who now lives with his dad and just released the best-of album Most Requested Hits last month, said that he was also angered when his mom barred Bob from seeing all but one of his recent live shows. The couple, who are battling for legal custody of their children, have unleashed a volley of accusations against one another. According to her Florida marital attorney, Timothy D. Lucero, Jane was granted legal guardianship over Aaron in August, but claims her authority was constantly undermined by her ex who wrongfully withheld physical custody of the popster. "The divorce hearing and the domestic violence case are both on track and I am looking forward to all the facts coming out," said Jane. "Most importantly, I am concerned about the emotional pain and suffering this conflict is having on our five children who I adore and love unconditionally." Jane Carter also accused Bob of using the divorce to get hold of Aaron's bank account. "I believe Bob's character assassination of me is simply a desperate attempt to gain sole custody of Aaron, to control Aaron's money and therefore attempt to cover up Bob's mismanagement of funds," added Jane. "I am a devoted mother and I am focused on doing what's best for my children." For Jane Carter, what's best for the kids has usually been the spotlight. As the head of Spectra Management, the family matriarch claims to be the "sole day-to-day manager" of Aaron's career since he was seven years old, never mind Bob. She also said she's been the guiding force behind launching daughter Leslie's career as a budding pop princess. In recent years, Jane Carter has also written two New York Times bestsellers, The Heart and Soul of Nick Carter: Secrets Only a Mother Knows and Aaron Carter: The Little Prince of Pop: The Real Inside Scoop from his Mom. Now, despite the acrimonious family squabbles, Jane says she's determined to carry on. "My family will survive this and our ties will be stronger than ever," she says. "Furthermore, this situation will not hold me back from pursuing my personal and professional goals." Jane Carter said she's seeking new talent for her management company and plans to write another book--this one detailing the inside story of her family.
