ISportsFan 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 Raw got a 3.5 last night. Meltzer considers this "disappointing" since the whole show was built around the first Foley match in nearly 4 years. Credit to the Observer. Jason
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 Well did you hear the lackluster crowd response to Foley? The only time the crowd gave a respectable pop was after his tribute video aired, but every time Bischoff said, "they want to see Foley Hardcore Legend WRESTLER" the fans gave a lukewarm response.... Vince needs to face facts, this is a new era.....time for new stars.
Guest Skironox Report post Posted December 16, 2003 New stars is right, but anybody except Orton.

Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 Maybe if they'd hyped it up before the show instead of announcing it thirthy minutes into the show, you could blame the Foley match, but chances are no one would've cared if this had been announced months in advance. A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2003 The sad thing is, if Foley willed himself to get back into shape and take on Orton in a streetfight at WM, it would be a **** match...but seriously, let the past be the past and put on the same match with people who didn't retire nearly four years ago. Guest Skironox Report post Posted December 16, 2003 What was the worst segment? What was the dropoff after the Rico vs John jobbereich match? Jericho getting punked out by Kane kind of made my stomach churn. But the whole last segment of the show ruined the night for me. What was all the buildup for? What did the announcers totally no sell all the action going on in the ring for? Foley walking out of the building, and a rub on Orton? Bad enough that Orton was sold as Foley's big comeback opponent, bad enough that I thought they'd blow off a return match for Foley on a pretty craptastic Raw, but even worse that they just didn't deliver on it. 5 thumbs down on that one. Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted December 16, 2003 3.5 isn't too bad I suppose. It's still a huge amount of viewers.

Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Why is he blaming Foley's match that was announced during the show? Obviously Evolution getting all the belts at the PPV was met by apathy so people didn't watch.
Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted December 17, 2003 3.5 isn't too bad I suppose. It's still a huge amount of viewers. The Raw after the PPV is suppose to get better ratings than the norm. That hasn't been the case for a long time now.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 The whole entire show was based around the return of a legend to the ring. The announcers talked about it EVERY TWO MINUTES. Clearly, it didn't result in a lot of viewers. And somehow I don't think Orton-Foley at WM will even be close to ****....maybe **1/2 if Foley has his "A" game. Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted December 17, 2003 What was the worst segment? What was the dropoff after the Rico vs John jobbereich match? It was hilarious on how the crowd just literally DIED when John took the offense. They at least had some sort of buzz when Rico was performing his moves. Guest Goodear Report post Posted December 17, 2003 OMG A 3.5 CLEARLY THE END IS NEAR! OMG A 3.6 THINGS ARE PICKING UP AGAIN! Rating 'news' sucks ass and it should never be reported again if it falls within the 3-4 point range. Aren't these web site dick heads tired of copying and pasting the same shit every week for the lasty two years yet?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Here's what I know. 1. Ratings usually go up not down after a ppv. 2. Ratings usually go up even more when there are many title changes on said ppv. 3. There were pretty much 3 main events hyped throughout the show (The Handicap match, Kane/Jericho and Foley/Orton) all of which were given actual storyline buildup during the show. 4. Ratings went down. So...either people don't want to see Foley wrestle...or people never bothered turning the show on after seeing who all those title changes went to. Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 17, 2003 I would have to agree and say that the lackluster PPV was the reason for the "dissappointing" rating.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Putting Heat matches in the 2nd hour had the tv audience run away in droves to watch MNF.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Lets face it. Raw cant compete against MNF... but even with MNF the ratings are the same...
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 here's a slightly more detailed version: Raw received a 3.5 cable rating, with a 5 share. Last week it got close to a 3.8 rating. 1st Hour - 3.3 2nd Hour - 3.7 The highest rated segment on the show ended up getting a 4.6 rating and that included the overrun of Raw. So...the Foley overrun does a 4.6 and the first hour does a 3.3? That is such a ridiculous difference. I wonder why people didn't want to watch Raw? ahem. Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Why would the ratings go up drastically for a Foley return match when they announce it DURING the show? Do they honestly believe the ratings will double and everyones going to call 3 or 4 friends just to see god damn Foley? I think not. But still, 3.5 is pretty bad for the RAw after PPV yata yata damn didily-ding-dong crap.

No way Foley could get a **** match out of Orton. Even if he got in shape, he would still have tons of ring rust left. It would be 4 years since he last wrestled, if he had a match at WM. Plus, Orton isn't good enough to wrestle a match that high yet. If WWE wants Orton to be a star, he needs to know how to wrestle better. Same goes for Cena, even though he is a better wretler than Orton.
