Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 It's a simple question really. What exactly can we do legally to get Hussein to talk, thus extracting vital information from him? Where is the line, and how close can we get to it before we cross it? I was just wondering this, it's bee on my mind since day one. Thanks a lot to anyone who actually knows. Sincerely, ...Downhome...

Justice 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Give the Mossad 30 minutes with Saddam and I'll bet he'd be willing to tell the US anything they want.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Allow him to escape and hope as he is running he blurts out the information. Either that or offer him a pony. In all honesty, there really isn't anything we can do. But if we could, I say we use that torture they used in Lethal Weapon with the sponges hooked to jumper cables. That'll get him. Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted December 17, 2003 He's not going to talk. He has nothing to lose by not talking. What do you want him to tell us anyway? I'm actually disgusted that people are suggesting torture. He should be tried for his crimes in an international court and if found guilty then he should receive the appropriate punishment which to my mind is life in jail. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 17, 2003 What about Truth serum? Grossly innacurate stuff. Sodium Amytol totally fucks someone up, clouding judgment, making memories change, etc... Would you base military tactics around the word of your enemy, totally out of his mind? I sure wouldn't. I don't know anything about the legality of it in terms of cracking a prisoner, but I'm pretty sure it's not something that's used often.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 Thinking about it is fine, but as soon as we actually do it, we lower ourselves to a despicable moral level. If we're going to be the moral guidance of the world and we're going to be responsible for rebuilding Iraq, stooping to the level of the people we've expunged isn't a reasonable option. Last night Sean Hannity was suggesting that we "not cut off his fingers or anything, but rough him up a bit." Thankfully, at that point, the other three people on the show called him the equivalent of a blithering nutsack.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 He has nothing to gain EXCEPT the possiblility of a slightly better life. Why do you think so many other arrested terrorists talked? Their being held in countries that allow torture. That, or they actually think they won't be executed in the end.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Make him watch Pokemon, Teletubies, and Barney for 48 hours straight. That would get anybody to talk. I would prefer we put him on Queer Eye For The Straight Guy. "Eeew! Look at this! The coat, the fedora, shooting rifles into the air? This is HORRIBLE! Well, let's get to work!" Guest BDC Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Hell, the ACLU got bent out of shape when the base in Cuba played Enter Sandman and Barney's "I love you" song at Taliban members. Friend of mine's response to this questions? "Big. Black. Dildo. He'll talk." I'm all for the music to mess with his head, but would confined spaces really work given where this guy has been hiding? Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Thinking about it is fine, but as soon as we actually do it, we lower ourselves to a despicable moral level. There you go. Yes, there is a sadistic part of me that would love to see a mass-murdering fuckhead like Saddam get stretched on a rack. However, it would be incredibly wrong of the USA to use such blatantly evil tactics. Those are things that the enemy does, and this entire fight is about good vs. evil as much as it is us vs. them.
