RVD Expected To Sign New Deal

Recommended Posts

Guest THE MIGHTY THOR

Problems seem to be ironed out...

Rob Van Dam has started talks with Jim Ross about a new contract. His current deal ends this summer. At this point, talks are going very smoothly and RVD is expected to sign on for a few more years.

Either he is getting a World title reign out of this new contract or more weed.

I honestly don't think Rob cares anymore about wrestling. I think the WWE has just killed the passion for it he once had and now he just looks at it as a job and does his little moves. Just goes through the motions and takes his check.

I dunno. There are times when I see that spark flare up and he becomes the RVD we all loved in ECW and kicks some major ass. He just needs to be pushed up to the main event.

I'm calling bullshit on this.

I don't see why he's going to resign when he's constantly stated otherwise.

Yeah, that's when he's actually going to win a match. In all seriousness, there is no one on the roster that you can tell is going to win or lose based on their performance more than Rob.

He has a family. He needs to support said family. He sure as hell isn't gonna get the kind of money he'd get in WWE if he went to TNA. Better usage, maybe, but the cut in pay wouldn't be worth it if he coundn't support his family.

But like Thor said, maybe he did get a World title reign out of it. We can only hope. :D

I really doubt he needs that much money to survive.

Someone of his popularity could get 1500 a pop for indy shows and a good chunk of cash from Japan tours. He could easily top his WWF salary in the indies.

I agree with Mad Dag on this one. Also, he does have a family, but I am sure he's made enough to support them confortably. He does have his own comic book shop and if he worked indy's he could spend more time with his family.

Between TNA, Indies, and touring Japan, he'd be fine financially. Plus, he owns that comic book store.

So...like...

when WWE releases all the guys they release...

do their families all die?

Yes, yes they do.

It's just not something we like to talk about.

Kind of like that Kane title reign that lasted 24 hours.

The only think Rob did in ECW was kill ring time.

I'm sure his family would prefer him working at a company where you can afford to fly major airlines, stay at nice hotels and be as safe and financially secure as well. I don't think they'd like for him to be heading to Japan to make the bigger paydays and working the indies driving city to city in rental cars, hoping the promoter filled up the high school gym so that you can get paid that night.

Plus, RVD has said now he's getting older he's thinks more about his health. So working the slower WWE style is safer for him.

He worked even slower in ECW.

True, but now, he does even less risky moves.

Well, he does fewer idiotic spots.

RVD would probably make just as much money if not more outside of WWE. Just ask Raven and how it works out for him, and you can bet that RVD certainly would be a bigger indy draw then Raven. Plus TNA could build around RVD which would help out negotiations on the tv deal possibly.

With that being said. It's RVD's decision.

Yes, let's build a company around a 'star' that is piss poor on the mic and very few people out of the immediate wrestling world know of/care about about, so they get a tv deal....yeah, that makes sense....

Yeah well people sure seemed to know who the hell RVD was when he FIRST showed up in WWE and outpopped their biggest draws. Who exactly does not know RVD that would watch a wrestling program anyway? He is not poor on the mic, he just has a different style that is not popular in WWE's system. If TNA can get a tv deal with Jarret & AJ Styles, then signing RVD would obviously GREATLY IMPROVE their chances. Not like anyone outside of the wrestling world knows ANYONE besides Rock/Hogan/Austin/Vince and possibly now, Foley. And none of those guys are going anywhere.

His style converts very well to WWE. Cut out much of the stuff he has a better liability of missing, focus him into shorter matches with better guidelines, and he end in a better position.

RVD as world champion better not happen. I hope his contract offers him for drugs instead.

Sure, him as champ is a breath of fresh air, but thinking long term, he's too one dimensional and can't cut a promo.

The last promo I remember of his was the VERY awful Flair imitation from last years No Mercy I think.

All those years of therapy --- GONE!

RVD's flair imitation was funny in the bad way. His little strut while doing Flairs limosuine riding jet flyin crap was just bad, then his woos were worse. I pity the person who had to hold the microphone for him.

Damn. I was hoping he'd be gone, so I wouldn't have to watch him fuck up all of those moves and do pointless flips on Raw every week.
