I'm leaving New York City.

Recommended Posts

Some pointers moving to CT. Some may not apply but these are my two cents.

*It is cheaper up there than it is down in Fairfield county and well the NYC itself.

*You will NEED a car though. Not many cities/towns in Connecticut have it so you can get around by train/bus.

*If you are going to do anything in Fairfield county, stay the fuck away from I-95 between 7 and 9 in the morning, and 4:30 and 7:30 in the afternoon. It makes the Cross Bronx Expressway look like you are in Upstate New York at 4 in the morning.

*Biggest warning, if you do come to CT and this does fall through be careful. CT has one of the highest rates of Unemployment in the state. I want to stwich jobs but only places hiring right now are McDs and Burger King. Have a plan B if you move to CT. Well, you can say have a plan B if you move anywhere.

*Cablevision sucks(as you know) but it is cheaper to go for the whole deal of IO, OptOnline, Opt Voice. It comes cheaper than Time Warner/Dish, AOHell, then local and long distance phone comps.

*Cell phone sigals off the beachline sucks. So go with Sprint because they have the best coverage in the mountian areas of CT. Although T-Mobile does have great deals.

*Depending on what hills are near, you should still get Hot97, WBLS, and Power105. WBLS has the best signal and Hot97 is the worst. Hot97 is weak all over the state due to 96.7 being a local signal out of Norwalk to fuck everything up.

I plan on getting a car once I get my license and save up 2 or 3 grand.

Comcast is the cable service that my friend has, so I'm looking into them. I ABHOR Cablevision.

As for a plan B...it's pretty simple. After I'm certified, I can stay in the same field and look for work elsewhere.

My main advice is to make sure you have somewhat of a longterm plan when moving to a different city/state.

I don't mean to sound like the asshole of the bunch, but it certainly is harder coming back then it is going, so just think it out well.

The man speaks the truth Dames. When I went to Alaska, I had no long term plan and I was back in Texas within a year.

Although, I must disagree on the second point... if you have a strong foundation at home, you can always go back.

As for your leaving... Fuck, who will show me around NYC when I make my eventual trip there? Areacode212, where are you???

No way, he'll love CT.

Welcome to CT

Where the taxes are high

Indians run Casinos

No pro sport teams

The worst governor ever, Rowland

And where rich parents give their kids money to buy drugs

But we have good drivers

You did take my advice and wear a hooded sweatshirt in your avatar.

If things don't go well in the northeast, Indiana is laughably cheap to live in. Especially the cobweb-laden corners like me. Rent at some dumps is like..200 bucks a month, sometimes less. 300 for something fairly decent.

Leaving This Town (Ricky Fataar/Carl Wilson/Blondie Chaplin/Mike Love)

F#m7..................................B7/D#

I long to see you oh my love I want to feel you near

F#7/C#....................Bm7/D

My need is deep inside

F#m7....................................................B7/D#

Well I've been rolling on, I've been holding on, I'd like you to know

F#7/C#................................Bm7/D

That it's been a long, long time

Em7..................................................A7

Sometimes it's hard to make it through the day

Em7..............................................Em7/A....A7

Sometimes it's hard to find my way

Am7..................Em7.........................Em7/A..........A7

Sometimes it's hard to notice the changing days

......................Am7/D................D.......Am7/G........Em7............Em7/A.....A7

When your friends have all gone, leaving this town for another one

F#m7................................................B7/D#

The night is coming round I can feel the weight of coming down,

F#7/C#.........................Bm7/D

So afraid to lose this dream

F#m7...................................................B7/D#

I want you to understand that I'm trying to do the best I can

F#7/C#............................Bm7/D

It's so easy to lose my way

Am7/D....Em7..............................D/F#...........G

Lay your head where you may find some peace

C................G/B........................Em7/A..A7

I've been searching for my happiness

Am7/D.......Em7.............................D/F#..................G

Don't you want to wake up and finally take my love,

C.........G/B..................Em7/A..A7...........................Em7/A..A7

I'd be happy if you'd let me know, now should I stay or go?

..............Am7....Bm7/A....Am7....Bm7/A....Am7....Bm7/A....Am7....Bm7/A (long solo)

Let me know

C....G/B....Em7/A....A7....Em7/A....A7....G9

F#m7..........................................B7/D#

Woke from a dream to see reflections all around me

F#7/C#..........Bm7/D

Of new realities

F#m7.......................................B7/D#

Heavenly angels won't you guide me please help me to decide

F#7/C#...............................Bm7/D

The path most meant for me.

That's life (that's life), that's what all the people say

You're ridin' high in April, shot down in May

But I know I'm gonna change that tune

When I'm back on top, back on top in June

I said that's life (that's life), and as funny as it may seem

Some people get their kicks stompin' on a dream

But I don't let it, let it get me down

'cause this fine old world, it keeps spinnin' around

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king

I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing

Each time I find myself flat on my face

I pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life (that's life), I tell you I can't deny it

I thought of quitting, baby, but my heart just ain't gonna buy it

And if I didn't think it was worth one single try

I'd jump right on a big bird and then I'd fly

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king

I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing

Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face

I just pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life (that's life), that's life and I can't deny it

Many times I thought of cuttin' out but my heart won't buy it

But if there's nothin' shakin' come this here July

I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball a-and die

My, my!
