AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 I keep my 16-bit systems hooked up in our guest room, since I have the newer systems in my bedroom. Anyway, I bought a used N64 cheap from some people about to be ripped off trading it in to Gamestop and offered them more, got it, and took it home. Now, my RF switch for my Genesis broke a while ago, so I picked up one of those third-party versions that have a bunch of cords (N64, PS1/2, Saturn, SNES, Genesis, etc). I wanted to test the N64 but it only came with A/V cables, and I decided not to (at first) disconnect my Genesis which was hooked up to the same RF. I was curious if you could use the same RF to hook up systems at the same time. So I had both the Genesis and N64 hooked up to the same RF switch, and popped in Zelda (Ocarina of Time) to test it out. I turned it on...to see the Sega Enterprises info, some a little bit of the Zelda intro, the "Saaay-gaaaah!" thing, and more of the Zelda intro. The hell?! The picture and sound was alternating between the systems, even though I didn't turn the Genesis on. Hell--I didn't even have the Genesis plugged in!! I turned them both on and hooked up the N64 by itself...it worked great, but that's very odd. I guess the audio and picture mixed up and alternated, but how did the Genesis run without being plugged in? Just some leftover juice left in the system? Some power can travel from the N64 to the Genesis? I don't get it. Okay--the VPW2 question: where's the best place to get a copy and a converter? The main reason I got another N64 is because it looks like the WWE games are going to lick balls in comparison on the PS2 and I'd rather have a good old game than a blah new game. HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 I think this happened to me before. I think that since they were both hooked up to the RF, that some power from the 64 went into the sega.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Re: RF switch. This is proof that God hates you messing with the forces of electronic entertainment such as you were. Now that you have learned your lesson, as well as discovered that your Sega Genesis entertainment system is possessed by the Devil, please deposit 25 and one third cents for your next photograph. Re: VPW2. I'd dig an answer as well. Same engine as No Mercy, right?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 More or less the same engine, however I'm not sure where VPW2 falls in chronologically between the American AKI games. I've heard it's better than No Mercy but came before it...
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Yeah, VPW2 came out before No Mercy and after WM2000, and it *is* better, IMO. More hidden legends, mask editor, shoot fighting, talking ring announcer, for instance. Great game play, also. Misawa practically = Goldberg from Revenge. As for where to get it (and converter), check out some online video game importers. The only games I've bought through importers were VPW1 & VPW2, so I wouldn't know where to point you. Google search. Also, check eBay. There's usually a couple for sale on there (try "virtual prowrestling 2" as well as "virtual pro wrestling 2"). Usually they don't come w/ a converter, so you may still need to find an importer for that.
Guest Douche Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Try therage.com to buy it. That's where I got mine. I BELIEVE $60 plus shipping. DON'T BUY A CONVERTER. Buy a used Gameshark for like $10 or less and you can get a converter PLUS cheats.

Sure about the Gameshark i.e. tried it personally? It would seem like it would work because the N64 only requires a casing or cart modding to bypass I think. However, an import cart will easily fit on top the Gameshark and then will bypass no problem? Or is a special code needed?
Guest Krazy Karter Report post Posted December 29, 2003 I bought a used N64 cheap from some people about to be ripped off trading it in to Gamestop Where the hell did GameStop come from anyway? I see a flyer for it in my Sunday paper 2 weeks ago and there are no less than 10 locations in my area that just popped out of nowhere.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Did'nt the buyout happen in the year 2000? I think it wasn't until last year or so that my nearly Funcoland became Gamestop. Anyway, Gamestop I think now currently compromises the former Funcoland, Babbages, and Software, Etc.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 VPW2 is, without a doubt in my mind, better than No Mercy or WrestleMania 2000. It's the king of that sort of setup, period. It just feels so much smoother than the others, you can have long ass classic Puroresu matches in the very same style and everything, it just feels perfectly like the real thing, what with how the matches progress and all of the moves in the game. Not to mention the CAW in the game. The shoot fighting is fun as hell once you master it also, it's like two games in one, and when it comes down to it, that's just what it is. It's in my top three favorite wrestling games, all of which are Japanese imports btw, heh. Once upon a time, the game went for quite cheap on eBay for a while, but I just noticed that it's selling for a good deal there once again. A few months ago, I saw it going for less than $20, but it's back up now. Other than eBay, I don't know where you could get it for a really good price, other than just finding someone who is willing to sell it to you. Try the following perhaps... GameTZ.com TradeGamesNow.com

Guest Scotsman Report post Posted December 30, 2003 I got VPW2 off Ebay(best place I found), and to fit it inside your 64, you just have to saw off a couple of pieces. Don't worry about any converters. Will take 5 mins at most. I can explain further, and show pictures if you choose to go that route.

The FuncoLand at my local mall hasn't changed it's name yet. Although, anytime I buy anything from there, I always get bags that say "GameStop" GameStop = Babbages = Software Etc. = Funcoland. There are a whole shitload of them around here due to them buying all of it up. There are usually at least two or three in or around the malls on LI (Green Acres has 2, Smithaven has 3, South Shore has 2, Sunrise Mall has 2 - notable exceptions on LI are Walt Whitman and Roosevelt Field with 0). AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2004 Update, in case anyone cares: I ordered a VPW2 online off Ebay. Cost me $54.99 after tax and everything. Which is a far cry from $69.99 + shipping and handling, etc. "I got VPW2 off Ebay(best place I found), and to fit it inside your 64, you just have to saw off a couple of pieces. However, I was planning on getting a GS anyway, so may not need to do that. I'd imagine that it works like this though: see those notches on the bottom end of the US N64 carts? Make it look like that, right? Seems simple enough.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 I ended up getting the Gameshark--which version worked for you? I have a v. 2.1 and it isn't working. I'm worried if I saw off the ends of the cart that if the game doesn't work I'm stuck with it.
