I think your Green and Gold colored glasses are blinding you. I wouldn't put down the Packers as a true contender.

I wouldn't have said it three weeks ago, but they really are hot right now and as much as I hate to say it, the death of Favre's father has been a boost to the morale of this club. They remind me of the 2002 Jets. A mediocre team that just happens to be playing its best football come playoff time. They almost beat both Philly & KC (when they were good) this year. They can be tough. I would put them at #2 in the NFC at this point. Carolina, Dallas and St Louis are all cold right now and Seattle isn't a very good team at all, especially on the road. In the AFC, it would be more difficult but Green Bay only has one real tough game on the road to the Super Bowl (@ PHI) and they already showed that they can beat them. I don't think they can win the Super Bowl, but they have a good chance to get there and after that, who knows? They will certainly make mincemeat out of the Seahawks at the very least.

New England's lack of a running game concerns me, and would be their downfall if they lose, but they appear to be far and away the best team right now.

I'm going to have to take issue with that statement. Antowain Smith had a pretty good game against the Jets two weeks ago, and another against the Bills this week. It seems to me like the Smith/Faulk/Cloud troika right now is at the very least sufficient.

It also helps that the Titans and Ravens will most likely beat the hell out of each other in the WC and come to the Razor against a rested Pats team.

As far as the Packers: The NFC is WIDE open; no team is exactly dominating the confrence, and that team has some real motivation and emotion now.

This is going to be a damn fine next few weeks.

Oh, to keep on topic: Vikings......14 points.......2 minutes.......TO THE CARDINALS!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

And I thought Carney choked under pressure.

I really can't see them going anywhere for as long as Moss is on the team. He is too much of a cancer. Ditch him and pick up TO.

WTF?? If Moss is a cancer, then what's TO? Hodgkin's Disease? Why on earth would the Vikings get rid of someone who is a)worse and b)six years older than their marquee player? It makes no sense. The Vikings have the cornerstone of a good young offense in Culpepper, Bennett, and Moss. All they need now is to find defensive backs who don't loiter on pass coverage when it's *fucking obvious the pass has to go in the end zone, and all you have to do is stop it to make the playoffs*.

A few other comments:

Congrats on your good season, Patriots...although only having ONE convincing win makes me suspicious.

The Patriots were 7-0 against teams with winning records. That should be convincing enough.

Then you look at the Ravens and they lost 5 out of 8 games on the road which is only 1 game less than the Seahawks and no one gets on them about their road record even though they lost to Oakland 22-10, St. Louis 33-22, Cincinatti 34-26, Pittsburgh 34-15 and Miami 9-6.

Because we should have won the St. Louis and Miami games, and there was really no excuse for losing either. The other reason, of course, is because, with the exception of running back, Seattle has worlds more talent on offense than the Ravens do. Your 2nd best receiver (Jackson) would be an upgrade over ANY of our receivers. Your backup QB should still be wearing our uniform, were it not for the one major move in franchise history I've disagreed with. Your club should be able to put up points anywhere, but they can't. Their turnover differential plummets on the road, as well, and the defense becomes a lot more porous.

NE is just coming in too hot to make it to the Super Bowl. This week off will hurt them cause it breaks the roll and places them into a situation where everyone will be gunning for them. And winning 15-16 in a row is not possible in the NFL.

Even as a Pats fan, I don't think the week off helps and I don't think they can run to the Super Bowl. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt I am.

As for the Eagles, they can't seem to stop the run and that could hurt them in the playoffs. If they get that run game fixed, I think they have a good chance. But the new stadium isn't the vet and teams aren't as intimidated by going to Philly I don't think.

Still, this is a wide open race and saying one team has a leg up on the other is insane.

Don't worry...Belichik is giving them today and tommorow off, then they have practices Wed and Thursday where they will do minor preperations for every team except for Indy(only team they can't face after the Wild Card round no matter what). Then they get Friday, Sat, and Sunday off before going into a full week of practice. They aren't going to come out rusty or anything...its insane how much preperation the team goes through but as a fan I'm loving it <ba-da-bup-bup-baa>

Man, how did I miss this thread?

I'm BEGGING for Packers and Cowboys victories so we can have a Cowboys/Packers NFC title game in Green Bay, and have it be completely freezing so we can have Ice Bowl II. I was pretty deflated when I saw that wouldn't be a wild card round matchup.

The Vikings better start looking for an another receiver that can make the big plays and get some run blockers

If you think that then you're just as ignorant as the vikes coaching staff the last few years. They need to get some tough cornerbacks and go hard after Sapp. If they can get some tough corners, they'll have a hard to beat team. If you look at almost every game, thats where they are beaten.

The pack will not go far in the playoffs, they are not that great of a team, fuck brett's father, not even his father's DEATH makes him lose his streak, what a greedy bitch, and it gets turned into some shit like he's a big fuckin hero. Brett Favre isn't that great, he's accurate, and everyone makes excuses for him! His thumb was broken therefor thats what we say when he throws bad...oh wait he threw a touchdown! OMG he's so brave...HES GOT A BROKEN THUMB!!!

Sir you are as ignorant as the city you cheer for...RANDY MOSS IS THE BEST RECIEVER IN THE NFL. And one of the greatest all time. I have no idea why he gets so much flak, look at his god damned numbers, so what if he dogs it once in a while. If we get some solid corner backs, and they sign Sapp, the vikings WILL WIN THE SUPER BOWL, I GUARANTEE IT. The Vikings had a shitty Defense in 98', our offense is amazingly strong, but our defense is horrible (mainly cornerbacks) and you cant go far without a solid defense.

Marvin Harrison never dogs it, ditto with Tori Holt. We never hear a word about either one of those two taking plays off, and dogging it.

Warren Sapp will not win a Super Bowl for the Vikings, or any team for that matter. He's past his prime.

Sapp is going to Atlanta

The Vikings Def needs LBers, CBs, and younger DEs

They're set at Safety and they have two Extremely good DTs for their 4-3 defense (Chris Hovan and Kevin Williams)

Well, regardless, Moss is a great reviecer...Holt can run routes, but doesn't Moss' speed or athletic ability, and Harrison is a great reciever, but he can't change a whole defensive gameplan.

Minnesota just needs D, they shouldnt draft any offense.

I would just like to add that the feeling of team and fans in Wisconsin is about what it was in 1996. It will either be jubilation.....or another lame depressing meltdown.

And no team in sport will ever be able to match the Vikings' mad choke skillz.

Your going to need a team with a little heart to actually win the Super Bowl. The Vikings need a lot more than just Sapp to win it all. For starters they should ditch Moss. For the money they give him they could bring in a pair of receivers, while being inferior, and probably improve the passing game. Having just 1 receiving threat isn't going to get you very far. They also need healthy running backs as well. The defense needs a ton of upgrades on the line and in the linebacking core. They also need to show up. They lost to San Diego, Oaklan, Arizona and the NY Giants. How can you say anything good about a team that lost to the 4 worst teams in the league? They also held Chicago to 13 pts. and the "legendary" Moss couldn't even get his team the win.

Actually, that would go to the Saints.

The Saints have to actually get somewhere into the playoffs before they can become real choke artists.

"Hardcore Discussion" my ass. So what, I called his Patriots a bad name. We're football fans. That's what we do. I'm from Philly. I bash teams I don't like. The Patriots are great. I'm sticking by my team, though. How old are we here, 12? "MOVE THAT HARDCORE TOPIC THREAD, ITS TOO CONTROVERSIAL!"

Inbetween that comment, and the Fiona Apple avatar, you just became my new favorite poster.
