The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 I just got back from Washington DC where I too saw Serenity. I was blown away...and that was with my high expectations. I couldn't wait 4 months to see the movie...and now that I have...I anticipate seeing it again even more.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 I saw Serenity last night at the Boston screening. An awesome time. The movie was HI-LARIOUS, and touching. the non-firefly fan I brought with me dug it also, though someone else in the theater explained some background of the series to him before the movie. I dont know if you're gonna get 2 or 3 non firefly fans to go see this on their own, but if each browncoat brings one or 2 friends with him/her, everything will be gravy. Did I mention it was funny? Damn, we were cracking up. The big ending events felt a bit rushed though, if this had been spread over a season of Firefly, it would be the best season ever. and River has the #1 sci-fi badass moment of the year. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 Well. If it had to be anyone seeing the movie before me. I'm glad its you 3 and not Mole. Now you will answer my questions. - Who was the best actor of the group? - Who was the best out of the non-cast? - Who looked the hottest? - Do they say the word "Shiny"? - Which episode is this the most closest to?
BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 - Who was the best actor of the group? - I'll have to go with a tie between Nathan and Summer - Who was the best out of the non-cast? - Chiwetel Ejiofor<The Operative> - Who looked the hottest? - They all looked great in there different ways, Kaylee was her usual adorable beyond belief self, Inara was sexy as usual, Zoe was her usual hot warrior woman self, and of course River brought the cute/sexiness - Do they say the word "Shiny"? - Several times - Which episode is this the most closest to? - Now that's a tough one...it was really it's own thing, sure there were elemtns that would remind you of certain episodes, overall I don't think it was like any one specific episode. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 - Who was the best actor of the group? Everyone is so in tune with their characters that they all really shine in their parts. Adam Baldwin was comedy GOLD throughout...and totally owned a dramatic scene as well. Nathan Fillion was tremendous as well. Summer was too. Damn...everyone was good and had their moments. Ron Glass owned every moment he was on screen. - Who was the best out of the non-cast? I can't spell his name. But the Operative was the kind of character that you don't ever forget. In part because of the writing...but mostly because of the man playing him. I've never had such a full understanding of a "bad guy" or his motivations. This was a fully fleshed out character played to perfection. - Who looked the hottest? Summer. - Do they say the word "Shiny"? I'm sure they did. But I'll get to why I can't recall that after the last question. - Which episode is this the most closest to? This is what my friend and I were discussing on our drive back to Buffalo. It's simply too big to be compared to an episode. This movie is heavy. And by that I mean loaded with great lines, memorable moments, moving performances and balls out action. I laughed so hard for a period in the middle that I didn't hear half the follow up lines. And so much happens in this movie that it will take a couple viewings to catch what is said and the importance of it all. But I did walk away with a great understanding of the point of the movie...and it is fantastic. I won't go into spoilers at all...but this movie was in a nutshell about believing in something...and how far you'll let that belief take you. A memorable and refreshing movie in every sense. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 YOU ARE SHITTING ME! I thought that was programmed for mid season next year. FUCK YEAH! Tim Minear is the show runner and David Fury is also a part of it. FUCK YEAH!!
Mole 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) Sweet, I didn't know that Tim created the show. Hopefully, *fingers crossed*, this isn't another Wonderfalls. And the other creator, Howard Gordon, worked on Angel and Buffy for a little bit. I never saw his name before, so this is new to me. Plus he worked on the X-Files when it was still good, so that is another good thing. Did anyone get Wonderfalls on DVD? Edited June 1, 2005 by Mole
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Wonderfalls is on the long list of DVDs that I have to get. Tim didn't create the show, but he was brought in by Fox to totally overhaul it. It was originally supposed to be about a female FBI agent sent into a high school. The only thing that remained after Minear got through with it, I believe, was the actress who played the FBI agent. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 (edited) Did anyone get Wonderfalls on DVD? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes and Caroline Dhavernas and Jewel Staite catfighting is sooooo money. The spoiler is just in case anyone wasn't aware of who shows up later in the season (seriously doubtful looking at who asked the question, but just in case) . Edit: Shit, I tried to use a spoiler tag, but can't get it to work Edited June 1, 2005 by the pinjockey

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 OK I've tried to find out without posting, but no luck. What is the technoesque song they use for the first half of the trailer, I think right up to the point River starts whipping everyone's ass? I've heard it several times but I haven't heard the title or artist before.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2005 On the off chance it hasn't been brought up, Summer Glau (sp?) played a somewhat prominent role in the 4400 season premiere. She basically played a slightly less crazy version of River, having other inmates and a mental hospital build a radio tower. Don't know if she's gonna be on any more episodes or not. Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 I found two items of interest on Rotten Tomatoes: 1. Dark Horse will be running a Firefly comic book series sometime in the near future, detailing what all happened to our heroes in between the end of the TV series and the movie. 2. Joss Whedon must've run over this guy's puppy or something, because he writes the most ridiculously scathing & negative review of Serenity that's humanly possible. Childishly insults the acting, writing, directing, the fans of the show, everything. An actual quote: "Serenity is an early contender for the worst movie of 2005 and is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, period." Anyone else think he deserves to be spammed with lots of vicious & obscene hate mail?

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 One thing in particular about Josses writing that divides people on him is in regards to dialogue. This person is one of the people who doesn't like it, so I doubt he liked Buffy or Angel or Firefly... infact, reading it again, he said that he couldn't "endure" Buffy. Guess what? This is a Whedon-hater. Hell, it was probably Vyce. You don't use words like "endure" for things you don't hate. Whether he is "right" or not is irrelevant, "It is not believable because movies are fake" is 'right', but it doesn't matter to someone who enjoys movies. "The dialogue was structured and obvious and too "cute"" may be "right", but hey, I like that kinda stuff and so do yall here. If you put a lot of stuff you liked about Buffy and Angel down on paper and tell someone to look at it objectively, they'd probably say it sucked and you were stupid for liking it. But this isn't about objectivity, it's about something that connects with you in some way that makes you feel for the characters on screen and lets you experience different highs and lows and emotions throughout. "Buffy was a teenage vampire slayer who fell in love with a vampire who was good because he had a soul which was given to him by gypsies..." sounds stupid by itself, and especially sounds stupid to someone who already looks down on that kind of "stuff" and will start using words like "endure" to describe it, but does someone saying that makes them "right", to you Mole? Mole 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 There is the chance the movie won't be good. I hope I am wrong. Hell, I am hyping this movie so much I am going to be disapointed a little bit. But I see what you are saying RRR.
