Styles Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Jonny Fairplay close to signing... Jonny Fairplay, one of the stars of Survivor, is extremely close to signing on with NWA: TNA. Unless a major problem comes up, he should be debuting with TNA soon. Fairplay often used wrestling catchphrases on Survivor and was hoping to land a deal with WWE, but thus far WWE has not had too much interest in him. Fairplay is the former assistant of Roddy Piper. BoboBrazil Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 This should be pretty good for TNA. It should get them some attention on shows like Extra and Access Hollywood.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 This will do nothing to help TNA......for the record.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 If they need to bring in reality tv people why not some of the Tough Enough people? You would think they'd get more viewers from them.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 The guy is good at pissing people off and actually knows a little bit about the business. He just might be able to get himself over as a heel.
Corey_Lazarus Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 They had Jonah do one match. And it was pretty damn good, considering how green he was at the time (and probably still is). TE3 produced the best crop, as I think most of them are still working at getting into the business (with Matt and John being, apparently, the best TE winners yet, and Jonah representing MASS~! to the fullest extent). I've never watched Survivor, so I have no idea who this guy is.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Is he going to be a manager? Cause if so...then whatever.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Ugh. Why? This will do nothing for them... except get me to not tune in. I can't stand that guy.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 The guy is good at pissing people off and actually knows a little bit about the business. He just might be able to get himself over as a heel. He was good when acting like a heel in a stupid reality show where those antics aren't expected. But wrestling? A major company? Right. Vince didn't even touch him, what does that say? He's nothing.
Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 Who's that in your sig Notorius??
Mecha Mummy Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 They're really sort of understating Jonny Fairplay's involvement in the business. He was previously a manager, heel commentator, and promoter along with being Piper's assistant.

Guest The Notorious CRD Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Who's that in your sig Notorius?? Sandra Bullock
Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 It is???? Holy Crap
Guest netslob Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 well, if Piper doesn't like it...he knows where the door is...won't break my heart.
thuganomics Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 If they use him as a manager/annoying prick it will probably work. Please don't let him wrestle though. Y'know, it's a good thing Russo ain't writing anymore, otherwise, he'd end up NWA champion...
Slingshot Suplex Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 I'm with dynamite. This will add nothing. Especially long term and all it can do is take attention away from the wrestlers. I have an 8 X 10 of that Bullock pic. Greatest picture of her ever.
thuganomics Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Anything that'll get new people watching NWA TNA at the moment is a good thing. It's just a matter of tying in some strong wrestling to go with it to get the fans hooked.
