anyone have any tips on how to GAIN weight besides eating more and working out.. do any of those supplements work at all?

Depends on your metabolism. I know a kid who can eat twelve tacos in one sitting and sleep all day and not gain anything significant.

Why doesn't eating more work?

For starters you don't just want to add fat. You want to add muscle for weight gain and maybe a little fat.

Sitting around eating burgers at Wendy's all day will do the trick but you'll look like shit and it's not healthy.

Drink beer alot.

That's the only trick that's done it for me. I tried eating a hell of a lot but my metabolism and activity level never let much weight build up. One summer I was playing on 5 different teams and that meant that I was drinking 5 or 6 beers every night. I put on about 20 pounds that summer, fortunately my activity level made it mostly muscle gain and not gut gain.

This obviously isn't the best or suggested way to go, but it did work for me.

Well it's funny. I'm trying to lose weight but gain mass to play football.

I'm at 270 right now but I want to be at about 300 but it needs to be muscle not fat.

So I'm at the moment working out to lose the stomach but to also gain weight.

So I run all the time, lift weights, and drink protein shakes.

Eating souls also can fill you up, but they either have to be really good or really evil souls.

If you want to really pig out and not feel guilty, go to an elementary school and dine away. Their small souls allow you to pack away 40-50 and not feel guilty afterwards.

Of course, the good souls taste like cabbage and the bad souls taste like, well, they also taste like cabbage, but it's good.

Yeah, how do you gain muscle mass without gaining fat to go with it? I used to be one of those peeps that could eat heaps and do nothing and still be thin, but now my increased activities to like weights and, well; excercise beyond walking to the couch has caught up with me, meaning when I look in the mirror I'm like 'Oh my god I'm so fat' like not fat enough that you notice it with a shirt on, but without it you can.

So . . . on a diet of nothing but milkshakes, chicken, steak and bread; is it possible to gain muscle while losing fat?

Get a heavy bag and pound on it when you're not lifting. Eat a balanced diet otherwise, and it should work ok. If not, just focus on being toned, and be glad you're naturally thin. I've got to bust ass to remain in good condition.

I weighed in the 120's from the 9th grade until I was about 27 years old. I ate anything I wanted whenever I wanted. Then all of a sudden I just started putting on pounds. I am at 170 now but for the most part the weight distributed evenly so I don't look fat. Eventually your metabolism will slow down. I'm dieting now but only because my cholesterol level is double what it should be.

It's what I'm doing. You replace the fat with muscle and add onto the muscle.

But you have to do aerobics to lose the fat.

I have two dogs that I jog around the block then I jog myself. I also have a gym membership so it all works out.

Are you supposed to do weights every second day? Because that's what I was told to do years ago, and I still do that now . . . but why.

And, do those supplementy dealies actually work? Or do they just make you fat?

Peanut butter and lots of video games will do the trick.

When you lift to failure, you've worked a muscle group to the point of fatigue - ie, you've broken down the muscle fiber. Waiting +/- 48 hours before you work that muscle group again allows the muscle to rebuild, so that you're working fresh muscle fiber and not just piling abuse on an already-fatigued muscle group.

If you work to failure in most of your workouts, 48 hours will USUALLY not be enough recovery time. You also have to take into consideration what type of job you have, how much sleep you get, how much you eat and what you eat, how much weight you are lifting and of course, genetics.

I used to work to failure all the time, and i gave each body part 4-6 days of rest between workouts. it worked well for me, might work well for you too.

I can eat just about anything, and not get fat at all. Even when I drink 5 nights of the week for a good 2 months, I only get a little gut but nothing big at all.

I am naturally fit, people think I work out when I don't pick up a weight. Like I have said before, I think I'm going to start doing Yoga to do something with myself.

Jesus. No matter how you do it, you're going to regret it later in life.

I suggest you start by emailing [email protected] though.

Well since I want to play football I'm going to need to be big. 270 ain't going to cut it up on the line. I need about 300. I'm not talking about getting fat. I'm talking more like Brock Lesnar here.....course I couldn't be that muscular but you get the picture.
