The WWE Folder

Recommended Posts

I give Angelslayer the giggles in the private confines of AIM, so I don't mind him forgetting me.

(wistfully remembers the days when he was one of the best here)

I would be willing to help out in the WWE folder and if the decision was made to appoint some mods specifically for that folder, I wouldn't mind doing it either. The problem is that when someone makes a good point, it gets ignored for countless one-line posts.

Whoever would take on such a role would need to be someone who doesn't care if anyone likes him or not, because that goes with the territory. It'd need to be someone with patience, yet someone who won't put up with BS, either.

Zsasz has a few good ideas, but I think making a "This Week In WWE" thread to cover all the news would be ideal and would cut down on a lot of the needless traffic, and there would be no need to assign specific "reporters" to the thread. And sometimes, one-line posts are okay, but when they get excessive, the mod PM's the author and gives a warning. It'd also be helpful to pin a couple of threads at the top of the page with helpful links, explaining how the folder works and encouraging posters to use the search engine before creating a new topic or asking a question.

I like that idea (since I did come up with it over at SNKT) and it really works. Look at WWE's folder right now; almost the whole first page is a lot of stupid "news" threads. I don't think some hazy rumor about another Benoit "push" warrants its own threads.

And Loss made a good point--just about anything that makes a good point in that folder is soon buried with a lot of garbage.

My least favorite thing about WC is that you are not allowed, in any shape or form, to ask about any specific matches on DVD unless the WC store sells the item you are talking about. You are not allowed to, say, ask what DVD or tape has a certain match on it (like Dynamite vs. Benoit), you are not allowed to talk about any WWE DVDs, you are not allowed to talk about ANYTHING that they don't sell personally.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've had a spat with those morons over this same issue.

Just go to the site, and do a search for the word "DVD" or something in the subject title. Every topic that is asking about where to buy something, specific details, or what they thought of whatever tape/DVD is either locked or has been locked. Just check out the following threads if you don't want to search...

...ugh. I just love this part, posted by Mark Nulty...

I try not to shove ads for WrestlingClassics.com products down people's throats.

But at the same time, please relaize that the purpose for the site and the message board is to draw traffic and create awareness for our online store and products.

Please don't advertise or review videos and books that we don't carry without permission. That inclides WWE DVDs and videos. However, if the WWE would consider a tradeout, I would happily reconsider this policy!

This also includes asking about availability of video. "Is there anyone that sells such and such tapes", "Who owns the rights to such and such tapes", etc.

Thanks

There are exceptions like Rich's Peach State Pandemonium and Karl Stern's DragonKing Press that we know and happily endorse.

...that's just wonderfull, such a class act he is.

I noticed that it's not a great idea to ask about any old time wrestlers and shit like that. I remember always seeing like 4 people telling the person to shut up and just buy "Hooker".

The WWE folder has needed mods for the longest. Anything goes there, even when the global mods show up nothing is done, sometimes they might even join in the fray of stupidity. I think if a couple of mods like Loss or Zsasz were appointed for specifically that folder, they would take alot more pride in it than the global mods who feel that the folder is already a lost cause, and really, who can blame them?

Loss as mod would FUCKING rule. I'd actually post in it again.

I think that folder mods could be the way to go in a few cases, eg CE, WWE, TNA. even Music, GD and HD. WWE is in need the most, but sometimes there can be a mod presence lacking in some of the busiest folders.
