JasonX Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 AVP feel free to contribute any info but man i love those posters Awesome. This is what they should have fucking done for the Freddy vs Jason movie posters....
Lil' Bitch Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I thought the F Vs. J posters were done well.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 the tag line "Whoever wins, we lose" is catchy. Is it gonna be anything like the Games or are they ignoring those?
Guest El Satanico Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I thought the F Vs. J posters were done well. I believe he's just referring to each getting their separate poster. I happen to agree with him too. Jason and Freddy having separate teaser posters would've been great.

I don't know if you could buy them, but in the movie theater I go to they did have separate Freddy and Jason posters.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I know they had separate banners...but I don't recall separate posters.
MrRant Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I like the "Whoever Wins... We lose." tagline.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 they interviewed Sigourney Weaver on some red carpet thing for E! and she said she wanted nothing to do with the AVP movie because she feels her character in the end could outsmart both and kill them. She has creative control over Ripley so I'm glad she's left out...stupid bitch
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I can't wait for this. I'm going to leave that theater with a cummy black H.R. Giger ridged and tendriculous hardon with teeth.
{''({o..o})''} Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I can't wait for this. I'm going to leave that theater with a cummy black H.R. Giger ridged and tendriculous hardon with teeth. How's that any different from normal?
SamoaRowe Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Totally sweet. I loved the Predator movies and I was fond of the Alien ones as well.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 It would have been nice if Arnold reprised his role as Dutch for this movie for old time's sake. Hey, I can dream!
Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 So I'm sure I could find this with a little more research, but I'm having trouble digging up anything more than early jizz-posts for the movie. How have the Dark Horse comics, the novels, and basically the whole Aliens vs. Predator mythos explained how the Aliens ever have a chance of holding their own against the dreadlocked crab-face dudes with lasers?
Guest wrestlingbs Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 I'm surprised it's coming out in summer of '04. i hadn't heard much about it. And Weaver saying that is kind of ridiculous. Maybe she's just upset because Alien 4 bombed.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 It would have been nice if Arnold reprised his role as Dutch for this movie for old time's sake. Hey, I can dream! according to Corey Lazarus in the start of the second film Dutch is killed. I haven't seen Predator 2: Pred in the City but I'll take his word for it since he seems to be very knowledgable in this area.
theintensifier Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Dutch~! is killed in the 2nd Predator? WTF? I never saw that. I want my refund damnit.
Art Sandusky Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Edwin put it nicely in the last bit of his post. The Aliens have a shot against the Predators how?
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 And Weaver saying that is kind of ridiculous. Maybe she's just upset because Alien 4 bombed. Yeah but, it's still not stopping them on planning to make TWO more Alien films.

How have the Dark Horse comics, the novels, and basically the whole Aliens vs. Predator mythos explained how the Aliens ever have a chance of holding their own against the dreadlocked crab-face dudes with lasers? The Aliens can hold their own against the Predators because of sheer numbers and the fact that the Predators just don't take the Aliens seriously as a threat, causing them to get overconfident and get massacred......
Corey_Lazarus Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 according to Corey Lazarus in the start of the second film Dutch is killed. I haven't seen Predator 2: Pred in the City but I'll take his word for it since he seems to be very knowledgable in this area. I don't recall ever saying such a thing, so if I have, please point out the quote, because this is wrong. In the beginning of the second one, nobody but members of the El Scorpio gang, as well as some cops that we like to call "fodder," are killed. I'd also like to say that the opening two minutes or so of Predator 2 are some awesome filmmaking examples. In the first one, it took place in a jungle in Central America. In the second, it takes place in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. They display this by first showing jungle-like vegetation, and then panning up to show LA. How have the Dark Horse comics, the novels, and basically the whole Aliens vs. Predator mythos explained how the Aliens ever have a chance of holding their own against the dreadlocked crab-face dudes with lasers? I'm glad you asked. It's very simple, really. The Aliens draw the Predators in, and use their number advantage to, well...their advantage. Aliens can also disguise themselves in the walls of the Hive, and can attack without being seen. They are fast, attack in well-planned manners (much like insects), and for every one Predator, there are approximately six Aliens. The same way a beehive can defend itself against a human with a can of bugspray, really: swarm. As proven in Aliens, all the technology cannot stop them, but merely aid in possibly allowing you to survive. Basically, it all boils down to numbers. They have more, the Predators have less.

Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Numbers sound cool. It surprises me that a Predator would even bother diving into an Alien den in the first place, but a nice visual for sure. Worst part about this movie will most definitely be the inevitable use of loads of CGI. Alien suits and models look so much better than super-smooth CGI beasties, and they force the cinematographer to actually light and compose shots well.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I don't think they will use excessive CGI. I'm sure it will be used, but I think alot of it will just be used on the shots establishing vast Alien dens and large numbers of Aliens. I'd imagine alot of the up close and personal scenes would use real FX.

I believe you said it in the thread where I asked who would win in a fight between a Pradator, a pack of Aliens, and the Arnold model Terminator.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Wasn't the whole Aliens vs. Predator thing foreshadowed in Predator 2? When Harrigan (Glover) follows the Predator back to his ship and finds his trophy room, there was an Alien skull above the throne if memory serves. I remember seeing it (I can't believe it's 14 years old) and giving a mental "Holy crap!" that they would have two completely different movie franchises from such different spots on the timeline converge. Still, since Predators have apparently been acting as interstellar hunters for who-knows-how-long, I guess they could have found the Aliens long before humans accidentally did. I don't know if the comics went into backstory or how in depth it went, but I'm kinda curious to see how the movies go, as in if this is kind of a "first contact" thing or we join in after the conflict has been established.
dutchse.cx Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 In the Predator novels (yeah, there's novels), Dutch's brother is trying to find out what happened to Dutch and ends up in the whole Predator mess. I don't recall him ever actually finding out that Dutch is really dead, just that he's missing. Also ... Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The Predators end up attacking New York City as a whole, all sorts of ships uncloaking and it's the humans (cops, gangs, whatever civilians feel like joining in) vs. the Predators in a fucking street fight. The Predators only leave when it starts raining, because for them that means hunting season is over. As I remember, the books kicked a good amount of ass. There's also Alien vs. Predator books and regular Alien books. The Earth Hive trilogy was awesome and S.P. Perry's AVP: Prey setup a good stroyline for the conflict between the Predators and Aliens.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Well, looking at IMDB I happened to notice another bit of continuity in the Aliens series as one of the stars of the movie is Lance Henrikssen, whose character's name is....Bishop. Kind of amusing. Hey DDR at the end of Predator, Dutch is last seen being helicoptered away after surviving what looks like a nuclear explosion. Did the novels say that he became like a Predator hunter and disappeared while on a mission or something?
2GOLD Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 They actually described it pretty well, as did Corey. The Predators hunt the Aliens as a sort of right of passage into adulthood, as the director has the film set up. For a Predator to become like the ones in Predator 1 and 2, they must first hold their own against aliens, basically needing the head of one to prove their worth. Anderson touches on this, creating one scene where you see a Predator suceeding and another seen were the Predators fail. Apple.com had a clip explaining how he is doing it and basically mapping out the entire plot of the film complete with storyboards. I think it was.....A vs P with Paul Anderson That will answer TONS of questions
The Metal Maniac Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 (edited) How have the Dark Horse comics, the novels, and basically the whole Aliens vs. Predator mythos explained how the Aliens ever have a chance of holding their own against the dreadlocked crab-face dudes with lasers? Well, if people can stand up to Predators (not all people, but hey, some have survived) then why shouldn't aliens be able to? I only saw the original Predator (and about half of the sequel) a few weeks ago, and I really liked it, so I'm pretty hyped for this flick. It makes me wanna see all the Alien movies as well (I've only seen the first). EDIT: I just watched that trailer/interview thing. HOLY SHIT. This looks like it could be awesome. I love how they fit the Predators into human history... Edited January 20, 2004 by The Metal Maniac
