Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 You know I was wondering this. Seems how if you live in a college town or even a big sports team town you are bound to run into a player. Hell you can even get crucial information. Ok here's mine. I don't live in Norman(i live in the next town over) but I go to school at OU. So I run into a lot of athletes. I had Ebbie(sp?) Arah(i know i totally butchered his name) in my math class my first semester of college. You know he was a senior for OU last year and I believe he injured his hand and couldn't play the last few games. Well I was the second tallest guy in the class behind him so he'd always mess around with me and make jokes about the shorter people....he was weird to say the least. And not to bright. You can even find out crucial information about players. Lately there's been a rumor flying around that K-State broke Jason White's hand in the Big XII title game. OU denied it but Jason's game still seemed off against LSU. OU obviously didn't want to make it an excuse. Which it wouldn't have been an excuse in my mind because LSU's defense had his recievers covered so well I don't care if he was freakin Joe Montana he wasn't getting any passes in that night because of those monsters. Well OU is still denying it but then a few people called in and said that he had surgery this past weekend. I didn't know who to believe. However a buddy of mine lives in Jason's neighborhood. He ran into him in 7-11 and he said he was trying to hide it but he had a black cast on his hand. Even funnier is when sports stars try to hide. On the same day Jason White was also trying to hide himself. He had on a hood and a hat trying to cover his face.....he was standing in the corner alone eating a jelly filled doughnut. Course he must not be to bright because my friend was like "Hey!" and he flashed that goofy ass grin and said hi back........not a master of disguise obviously. Then there was my boss downtown at a club. Jason White and Dan Cody show up. Jason tries to sink into the crowd and looks anonymous. But Dan Cody walks in like a big shot with a huge cigar hanging out of his mouth and flirting with everything in sight. Apparenlty it worked because there were girls asking him to autograph there tits and asses. Damn I need to play ball.......... Anyways anyone got any sports stars be it college or professional in there area? Anything goofy to share about them?
the max 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Ft. Myers (where I work) is the spring training town for the Red Sox and the Twins. We get a lot of players in in February and March. Most of them are pretty nice guys, and it's nice to talk to them about some of the off-season stuff. Other than that, the only team around where I live is the ECHL Florida Everblades, and I couldn't pick them out of a line-up.

treble 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Todd Gill, who used to play in the NHL (his career kind of limped to an end, though) lives in the town where I live. He works for a local car dealership and I've seen him in commercials for them. I've also seen him come out of a sporting good store downtown.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 I used to work out at a Bally Total Fitness (NEVER join with these leeches!) in my college days and Steeler players were always there. It was sad to see the guy members mark out like 10-year old girls at a Hansen concert. My highlight was kicking Kevin Greene off a Leg Extension machine because he was just sitting on it while Chad Brown (I think it was him) was on the machine next to it.) EDIT: Oh, yeah. Levon Kirkland also visited the arcade I used to work at and play that one Wrestlemania game with HBK, Hart, Undertaker, Doink, Luger and Yoko. He would play it all freaking day, and I was the unoffical bodyguard because I got tired of seeing punks just hanging around him. Just let the man play his video game in peace, bitches. Oh, and his wife/girlfriend was cute, too...
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 I ran into the entire Yankee Team in Baltimore and met some o them. I wouldn't have, as I doubt any of them would want to talk to me with my YANKEES SUCK T Shirt. Locally we have a minor league baseball team (A ball affiliate of the Os) but I've only talked to a few players, none of whom have made it big yet... and MAX, theres talk of an ECHL team coming here to Delmarva to play in the rickety Civic Center. They've been doing tests to determine whether the Civic Center is big enough for an ice rink (which it should be, theres Disney on Ice there tonight). I was down in Charleston SC and saw the Stingrays play a few games, minor league hockey sounds pretty cool. The only thing that might stop it is the fact that they won't be able to sell alcohol at the games. Major loss of revenue there...(alcohol isn't allowed to be sold on the Civic Center grounds which might be a reason why the WWE has only been here 1 time in the last 9 years. Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 I live in the same city as Barry Sanders, but I haven't seen him running down the street lately. Before the '94 Final Four tourney, Michigan came to Wichita to play their first round games, and they practiced at my high school gym. Security closed the gym off to prevent mobbing, but with my brother being a big basketball star, he got to go in, and in turn got me to go in as well, so I got to meet the Fab Four (Webber had moved on to the NBA by this point)

It's a nice way to kill some time, as the games are almost always entertaining in some way. Season tickets are easy to come by too. The ECHL is expanding well. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Only met LaDainian Tomlinson in a restaurant. I talked to him for like ten minutes before I had to go. He's a good guy from what I've seen of him.
Spicy McHaggis 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 At SC, I eat at this place called the Galen Center, where all the athletes eat. Leinart, Colbert, Bush, et al are always in there. Mike Williams always gets his lunch to go. Though I enjoy the place more for the pretty decent looking water polo player I know... she has a huge rack. Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Ronnie Lott frequents a Star Bucks close to where I worked. And one time, I was at a local pub, and there was a Raider, whose name escapes me, hanging out enjoying some grub. And when the Niners had Summer camp at my college, you would see Niners walking around. Heck there is a rumor that Jerry Rice fooled around with a soccer player. But, that is all speculation of course.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 I ran into Lance Berkman a few weeks ago. I had won courtside seats to the Rockets/76ers game on New Year's Eve and was on my way to pick them up. When I stepped off the elevator, there he was. He was cool; I talked to him for only a couple of moments because I didn't want to bother him. The highlight of the conversation was after I told him I enjoy watching him play, he said thanks and then asked me why I was wearing a Cubs hat.

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 O man i've seen so many Michigan football players around campus. I've seen Chris Perry on his way to Spanish class, I know a few of the players from orientation so i see them from time to time, and Braylon Edwards, I have seen about 6 times in the last month just pisses me off, not because he can't catch, but for the fact he stole the girl i was dancing with at this frat party. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 I live in Sacramento for the last 13 years, so occasionally I've met a few Kings players in my life. I used to work in a movie theatre about 10 years ago and sold tickets to Mitch Richmond, Olden Polynice, and Spud Webb. I've seen Vlade Divac and Peja in the downtown area together at night a few times because Vlade's wife owns a night club there. The 49ers used to hold training camp a few miles from my old movie theatre. I saw Steve Young go into see Lion King. There was a huge 49ers fan who worked as cleanup after theatres are done with a show and the guy went into the theatre looking for Steve to get an autograph. Quite embarassing. Actually, it was when they moved training camp to Stockton at the University of the Pacific, which is my alma matter. So, the summer I was crashing at a buddy's place, using UOP to help set up an internship, I happened to catch the players going to practice. I saw Jerry Rice and Steve Young. I always tell myself. "I'll never be a fanboy. I'll never bug stars." but if I ran into Joe Montana I'd probably shriek like a little girl at a Timberlake concert and rush him.
