Is Dennis Miller getting his own show...

Recommended Posts

O'Reilly (or any other TV host for that matter) doesn't do it -- his producers do.

Seems a bit odd he'd do this routine on cable TV when there was more freedom doing this on, say, HBO or another premium channel.

I have to remember to watch this tomorrow.

Oh, was Naomi Wolf that dumb "alpha male" bitch that worked in the Gore '00 campaign?...

That sounds about right. Didn't she get fired from the campaign or something? 2000 seems like forever ago.....

Yes.

Heaven forbid Al Gore act like himself, which probably would have won him a few red states.

You know, there are times when I want to like Hannity and Colmes, but most of their topics get nothing accomplished. I normally tune into their last segment because that's usually the most entertaining part of the show...

I try like hell to like H & C, but I can't enjoy it for more than a few episodes at a time. The arguments are SO predictable and Hannity stoops to the lamest and weakest debating tactics this side of the DNC. I know that the show is supposed to be clear-cut Right v Left debate, but I'd kill for something of substance besides "All Republicans are good and all Democrats are minions of Satan." This is why I like Savage so much. Because, unlike Hannity(and to a lesser extent Rush), Savage would turn on the Republicans in a second if they moved any further to the left. Where as it would take George Bush waving the Soviet flag for Hannity to barely admit that "Bush has moved to the left a little."

I've heard Hannity go after Bush a bit on his radio show (which I like a lot better than the TV show), but you're right about Savage. I miss listening to him because he was funny as hell. Plus, I loved his bumper music.

Believe it or not, my favorite bits on Howard Stern's radio show were when he talked about news/current events -- he made sense a lot of the times I've listened to him...

I much prefer Hannity's radio show. Every once in awhile he'll get down to business and actually talk serious policy and put the Dems vs. Republicans stuff away for awhile. I also love his Man on the Street segments where he talks to ignorant New Yorkers who, shock of shocks, vote Democrat. I think Sean feels more compelled to dumb-down his arguments and opinions on the TV show because its supposed to be a soley Right v Left show. It'd be boring if he and Colmes actually agreed on something.

And yes, Savage is a riot. I love when he goes into his ten minute long stream of consiousness rants about whatever. The guy is NEVER lost for words.

The funny thing about talk radio in my household is that for years my better half would hate listening to it -- I would watch cable news; she would watch the "Golden Girls."

But then 9/11 happened.

She soon tuned into Cincy's 550 KRC and listened to that station more than I did -- she loved Glen Beck, Rush and Savage. She wasn't political; they just make her laugh.

Of course now that she has a real job that pays real money she's turning more right-wing than me, which personally scares the crap out of me at times. To hear her go off at public functions about how Democrats in Pittsburgh are wasting her money is a real hoot.

Another eerie event took place with my ex. Back then I was able to listen to Rush more due to my schedule and she always gave me hell for that. Of course when I asked why she didn't like him she couldn't give a reason. Then one day I managed to turn his show on with my ex in the car and, not knowing who he was or what he sounded like, she yelled at me for changing the station (commercials were coming on) because she thought he was funny...

Then watch Crossfire, where even I wind up agreeing with the right wing guys from time to time.

And besides, according to Colmes, "we go after the guests, not each other."

I actually get Savage now again as of a few days ago. I listened to a few minutes of him the other day, but the commercials were really piling up and I eventually changed channel. In the minute of one segment, he made a point I agreed with and then made me upset for agreeing with him. But I've talked about that across about a dozen paragraphs now.

Hannity & Colmes has the tendency on a daily basis to bring in someone so extreme to the left, that even Colmes has to berate the guest. At first I thought it was just a coincidence, but after seeing it all the time, at least 2-3 times a week, I have decided that it is just a dirty tactic to discredit the left as a whole by constantly using extremists as their representatives.

I love when they have those guys from the New Black Panthers Party on and both Colmes and Hannity get pissed and go after them as a team.

And I disagree about the show "tricking" us into discrediting the left, when they have guys like the New Black Panthers or some insane socialist on, it helps strengthen Colmes and shows the viewers at home that the Democrat left is mainstream. When I think of Colmes I think "honest Liberal with some valid points." Not, "left-wing Marxist from hell."

there's a monkey messing with the Dean box

it sounds like there's 10 people in the studio

and none of the political jokes are really that funny.

This could be on public access

Show has been getting better as the week goes on, but there are a few things I can't get out of my mind.

1) The political jokes do seem to have lost their zing a bit, but I guess that's what can happen when you have to fill 4-5 hours of TV time per week (not sure if he'll have repeats on Friday) as opposed to 30 minutes per week, with half of it either just swearing or laughing at his own jokes.

2) Better guests, please. Namoi Wolf isn't insightful -- I have to laugh at her giving campaign advice. I'm not a big Horowitz fan either. I will say that Short did make me laugh tonight though.

3) I guess this is a good thing but the show seems to fly by. Every time they're done with the panel discussion I can't believe that it's '10 'till the hour...

I watched it on the first night, when Arnold was on (that was the firstn ight, right?)

My god that was the most boring "political" show I ever saw. HIs news was like, a C-level version of the same political newsbyte humor segments we see all over the place, like daily show among others.

Wolf is beyond useless. She never says anything of value other than the usual liberal stuff that's supposed to make us feel guilty. I really like Horowitz but he talks SO slow. It takes him forever to make a point and he always gets cut-off by quicker and less patient debators.

I watch the show and I laugh. Can't say that for everything else that's on TV.

Someone should let Miller in on the big secret that the Dean growl jokes are fucking OVER. It just isn't funny for him to be giving a monologue and having a monkey!?! press the soundbyte over and over. I never found it that funny in the first place, but Miller has taken ANY humor out of it.
