It occurs to me now that Guided by Voices stole everything from Eddie & the Hot Rods.

That comment makes no sense to me now.

Also, the single version of Nick Lowe's "Heart of the City" is on this punk comp. It's really different from the album version. A lot better, actually.

I'm in the process of sorting through the 3-disc Bob Dylan Bootleg Series box set. It's a little disappointing that the whole "amphetamine" portion of his career is represented by a slim six or seven songs, most of which are false starts. Stephen Thomas Erlewine's contention that everything on here is as good as the best song on anyone else's album is laughable. An instrumental version of "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" that's interrupted by Dylan collapsing into a coughing fit is the equal of anything else in the canon? Come on.

There's some good stuff here, though. The severely abbreviated piano-and-harmonica only version of "Like A Rolling Stone" is pretty neat. Etc.

Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence

Demolition Hammer - Time Bomb

I have been searching for an album by DH for years. YEARS. I found the Century Media 10-year anniversary 3-CD collection around '02 or so, and ".44 Calibre Brain Surgery" caught my ears immediately. You can check out the thread Taiga started regarding metal for their tune "Infectious Hospital Waste," or prolly d/l ".44 Calibre Brain Surgery" somewhere for free. They are what Cannibal Corpse would be if fronted by Steve Souza, pretty much. Lovely thrash with a solid technical side. I haven't given either a full listen yet, but I will over the course of the next week or so. I can't see myself not loving it entirely, considering the two full songs I've heard have been great.

I don't even remember the last few albums I bought. I know Zimmers Hole's When You Were Shouting at the Devil...We Were in League With Satan is one of them, but I can't remember anything else. Oh, right, Cannabis Corpse's Blunted at Birth. Stoner death metal via Municipal Waste bassist LandPhil, with every song title a ganj-based parody of classic Cannibal Corpse tunes. It's actually not half bad, either.

1.) I've heard it before, I just never owned it. I can't believe it took me this long.

2.) No I haven't. Is it any good?

Despite the many, many, many bands Agent has introduced me to, I had actually heard Acid Bath before. Ironically, since I was just talking about Skeletonwitch, Acid Bath was another band I got into based on name/cover alone.

As I am no longer a student and have much more in the realm of disposable income. I've been and bought quite a lot of new CDs. It's been good times having such an influx of new music.

I was killing some time in Best Buy this evening and came across the minimal Ghostface section. I understand "Bulletproof Wallets" is his worst album, but I couldn't pass it up at $7. Odd pricing, since the rest were at least a 10-spot.
