The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I've been meaning to post this topic for a while, but LotC's new sig just made me think of it while I was posting other stuff, so here we go. I want to know: Who here watches the show, and whereabouts do you live? I'm curious because I want to know how popular this show is in other places. I mean, it's popular where I live, but it's also filmed where I live, so whatever. So if you're out there (and I know you are), tell me.

The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I *think* it airs in some parts of the states, but I'm not sure - which is part of the reason why I posted this. I say *think* because my cousin, who works in customs, said she once had some Texans come through, and the first thing they asked her was where Trailer Park Boys is filmed. However, it WILL be airing in the states before too long. They recently got a deal to put the show on some US channel. I don't know the specifics of it, but I'm pretty sure it will happen. Which I can see as both being good and bad. If they make more money and get famous, good for them. But I think that they'd risk losing the "feel" of the show if it became a better-quality program. I mean, the show literally looks like a bunch of weirdos running around, swearing, and making up lines because that's what it is, and that's part of why I like it so much. So it's a double-edged sword, I guess.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 I hope it doesn't go big in the states. Its a truly Canadian show, thats why I'm glad the The Tragically Hip didn't really get big in the States either.
dubq 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2004 Another reason to hate Canadian television...
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Trailer Park Boys is probably my favourite show right now. There is nothing funnier on TV IMO. I just picked up seasons 1 and 2 on DVD a few weeks ago and they are a must buy. Lots of great bonus material.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Heard of it from a tour Our Lady Peace and some other Canadian groups were on. From everything else I've heard (including a mention in TV Guide), I was interested. Are these DVDs availible in the states or would I have to special order them? The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I've never heard of them being available in the states...though every episode is floating around Kazaa, so that''d probably be a good place to find out what you think of the show.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2004 Ok, so I was in Commerce, Ga. the other day and I decide to check out a DVD/CD/book/video game store in one of the shopping centers. Not only did this small store carry new stuff, but they also had a bunch of used items. As I was looking through everything, I noticed that they had both a new, and used Trailer Park Boys Seasons 1 and 2 set. I didn't really know what it was, but a part of me seemed to remember seeing clips of it on TV. I don't remember where I watched it, but I saw it somewhere on TV here. Anyway, the odd thing about the sets is that the used one was priced at $7.99 and the new and sealed one was only $9.99. I bought them both, put one on eBay, and started watching the other one. To my surprise, I sold the one on eBay for almost $50.00, I'm still shocked over that. I had no clue that the things went for so much. I was just about to put the second one on eBay, but after I started watching it, I couldn't get myself to. I'm up to episode eight now, and I'm loving this. This show is pure goodness through and through, I can't believe I've never heard more about it. I can't help but wonder though just how/why in the hell that a small store in a small town in Ga. had both a used, and new, copy of this DVD set for so cheap. Seeing how it hasn't been released in the US, I just find that odd now, especially after learning just what it actually is. Whatever the reason, I'm glad that I stumbled into this show. Both because of how great it is, and because I made a quick $40.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted December 20, 2004 I'm a fan of the show. One of the cool things about it is that I know people who know people that were on the show. There was a wrestling episode for anyone interested in that. Still not as good as Astroboy though but than again what Is? Absolutely nothing.
