razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 How long did Johnny B. Badd wear the mask? What cause him to wear the mask, and what exactly did Maxx Pain do to Johnny?
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I could be wrong, but didn't he get shot in the face with the "Badd Blaster", that confetti gun thing he used to bring to the ring? I remember he won a match, I think against Maxx Payne, then took off the mask to reveal that his face was fine.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I was thinking maybe Badd took a El Kabong guitar shot to the face, but the confetti to the face sounds more credible and lame so it must be true.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 At the June 93 Clash of the Champions, they were supposed to face each other since Payne stole the Badd Blaster. Then during an interview segment, Payne invites Johnny out to apologize ... then shoots it in his face. I know they fought again at the August Clash of the Champions but I'm not sure if that's when Johnny took his mask off. Actually, now that I think about it, wasn't that match a mask vs. guitar bout? Then Johnny won, to keep his mask ... then a week or so later he takes it off voluntarily (love the booking on that one).

Drury37 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I remember they tried to take off Badd's mask once and he had another mask underneath that mask but the match at WCW Beach Blast 1993 was actually a pretty good match but I could not say the same for the match at WCW Clash of the Champions XXIV (24). Thanks.

That sounds like something that Vince Russo would book. Thanks.

Then Johnny won, to keep his mask ... then a week or so later he takes it off voluntarily (love the booking on that one). Here's the absolutely asinine thing about that. The mask vs. guitar match took place live on TBS on August 18, 1993. After the match, Badd said he'd take the mask off "this Saturday" (8/21/1993) on TBS. The actual taping date for that one was August 2, highlighted by the Ric Flair-Sting match that ended up being the last NWA Title match to ever air on TBS. So people in the know saw Badd without the mask more than two weeks before Badd won the match to allow himself to keep it. A sidenote: The 8/18/1993 Clash also featured Lord Steven Regal subbing for the injured Brian Pillman to job the NWA/WCW Tag Team Title to the Horsemen...and the match where Pillman was injured aired 8/21 (taped 8/2, obviously). And you wonder why this company is no longer in business.
