Guest Jimbo Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Tag Match: Didnt see it. By the sounds of it, I won't want to. Cruiser: I missed this one too. But I really don't care to see Noble/Mysterio's 304th match anyway. Eddie/Chavo: **? It was really short, but you get the consolation that the fued is continuing and we'll probably see a much longer, much better match down the road. Holly/Lesnar: DUD. A 3 minute match that was 70% rest holds? WTF They spent 2 months building this match up, and then we get a 3 minute bore fest? Isn't Holly supposed to be mad at Brock? Let them brawl around the arena or something for crhissakes. MAKE IT REMOTELY FUCKING INTERSTING! THIS IS THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP, IDIOTS! HHH/HBK: **1/2 - Ok, this was alright when they were lying around the ring. Unfortunately, that was a mojority of the match, and thus it was crap. It was nice to see Shawn bleed buckets (even though that part made no sense, whatsoever. I mean really, how the fuck does one's face just burst open like that after fallin through a table?). The shot of the blood dripping off the chair which HBK hit HHH with was pretty fricken' cool if anyone else caught that. I was pleased the story of the match was not based around HBK's back, rather both men trying to fight to stand up, even if it made the match rather boring. The shite finish was annoying, but acceptable I guess considering the situation. Royal Rumble: Damn good Rumble, not only because Benoit one, but because it was smooth and it let a lot of storylines come together. 'Taker's music and Kane's reaction was pretty fucking great. I marked out like a little bitch when I heard it. Props all around, except to Matt Morgan for throwing Hurricane at the ground. It should be noted that Spike was never actually eliminated from teh Rumble, and he has as much a right at the title at WM as Benoit does
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Was I the only one who felt that every match outside of the Rumble and HHH/HBK looked as though the guys were told on the way to ringside that they had to cut ten minutes? Everything felt too short.

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Who ever booked/planned out that match for Brock/Holly needs to be kicked straight in the nuts. I wasn't expecting much, but I thought it would be at least a nice little stiff match and not a bunch of bearhugs and rest holds. One theory I've seen (maybe on this board, maybe another) is that they did that so that Lesnar wouldn't get face pops for beating the hell out of Holly. Heh, my favorite part of the match was HOlly's Alabama Slam to Brock Lesnar.
Toxxic 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 There were no nearfalls in any match except LMS. That's what made the entire night feel so odd. Basic summary: Evo vs Duds: Weak brawling, Coach interference, anti-climatic ending. Cruisers: Spot, spot, unintentional interference, end. Guerreros: Oh look, we have the start of an interesting wrestling match - oh, that was it. Holly vs Brock: Brawl, hug, F5, goodnight. HHH vs HBK: Lots and lots and lots of punching. Chairshots, blood, lame finish, BULLSHIT chant. Rumble: Great. The only way it could have been better would have been in V1 had lasted longer and eliminated Goldberg. Oh, and Orton was just as good as most other people in the Rumble. He actually is showing signs of improvement. Amazing.
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 (edited) Duds/Evolution: Ugh, ugh, UGH. 1/2* Rey/Noble: Wayyy too short, but then again, these guys haven't really wowed me lately. Slightly higher than the tag match since it was a bit more fast-paced. 3/4* Eddy/Chavo: Who booked this shit? The pacing sucked, too much stalling, out of nowhere finish and Eddy's beatdown which makes no sense annoyed the hell out of me. *1/2 Brock/Holly: WOOF. punch, kick, bearhug, F5. Holly looked like a total jobber. DUD HHH/HBK: This was like HHH/Taker, KOTR 2002 Redux with all the punching and resting. Plus, that stupid table bump just made me scratch my head and wonder if Shawn lost a few brain cells inbetween the RAW match and now considering how he totally whiffed it(Hunter didn't even need to duck). Nice blood from both guys, but blood alone doesn't make a match great. Also, am I the only one who noticed HHH looked a bit more chubby now? I thought he had already shed all that excess weight from a few months ago. Plus, he was gassed in a little over 5 minutes, which concerns me greatly if they are going to continue to book everything around him. ** Royal Rumble match: Well thoughtout and wow... Orton was inoffensive for once instead of bad, so kudos to him. Benoit and Big Show were booked very well and Kane getting freaked out by the gongs made me laugh. ***1/2 Edited January 26, 2004 by AlwaysPissedOff
Mole 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Dudleys vs Ric/Batista DUD Rey vs Noble - * Eddie vs Chavo - *1/2 Brock vs Hardcore - 1/2* Triple-H vs HBK - ** Rumble - ****1/
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Dudleys vs Ric/Batista: 1/4*- Predictable, boring, not given any time...one table bump finishes it? Wow, bad way to start the show. Rey vs Noble: *- It was over before I could look up from my SJL match. The ending sucked too. Eddie vs Chavo: 1/2*- And that's for the post match beatdown. I was so PISSED that this one, much like the whole PPV, had less emotion than your usual Velocity. Eddie goes from shaking, crying pyscho to happy wrestler all of a sudden? BULL! The post-match beatdown and Tazz trying to explain Eddie's lack of anger saved it. Brock vs Hardcore: 3/4*- Decent for what it was. Holly sticking to the full nelson was good pyschology, and the fact Lesnar disposed of Holly the way he did was the recommended outcome. Triple-H vs HBK: **3/4- I enjoyed it due to the crowd actually being into it, and HBK's little things like reaching for Hebner as he gets up. Not a good match in hindsight though. Rumble: ***1/4- Benoit let me down. Seriously...being #1 to the end, you're supposed to make people CARE. He got lost in the shuffle at every opportunity. Orton was good...that chair shot to Foley was killer. The Taker bait and switch was not a good idea. Foley, Dupree, Nunzio, Berg-Brock and then Angle throwing him out and Benoit not realising Lamont is WEARING A DAMN WIG saved it. I'm usually one of the more positive people around here. Not today. Underwhelming? An understatement.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Rumble: ***1/4- Benoit let me down. Seriously...being #1 to the end, you're supposed to make people CARE. He got lost in the shuffle at every opportunity. I'd peg that more on the announcers and cameramen. They didn't focus on Benoit until the end, and even then it was more on Big Show.
Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted January 26, 2004 For me that added to the unpredictability and made it better, if anything they could of made a bigger deal about Benoit getting down to the last two, but I guess since Big Show was the last with him there wasn't much hope in announcer world that Benoit would win. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Orton was fine last night, but I'm sure the majority here will ignore that in favour of "Orton sucks! and has no heat!!!111!" garbage. How is that garbage? It may not pertain to last night (I'll have to see it) But the fact remains that his matches tend to suck and he's not at all over. Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Not at all over? He was getting a face pop during some of his eliminations, and one for the RKO, people weren't just biting on Foley, but Foley getting Orton. His entrance had Matt Hardy V1 when it was it's hottest heat, your cult fans competing with the legit heat. He's undoubtedly getting there and by saying shit like that your killing your credibility. Keep stretching, one day you'll be able to take a german like RVD.
