He's a well-known rapper - even then, the entire point of this negotiation may be to lure Eminem into appearing at the show after a battle rap between Cena and Proof. That doesn't mean they should pick someone with absolutely no name recognition outside of the rap genre. This is like Bart Gunn against Butterbean. You know it's going to turn out badly so why even do it. Cena may be good, but Proof will tear him a new one. He would kill, I mean KILL John Cena in a freestyle. Proof would kill most any mainstream rapper in a freestyle except for Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, a motivated Snoop, and maybe Fabolous who actually started as a freestyler in New York. Proof is TALENTED as hell but the only way you get a single album with Eminem's label is if you actually can hang with and beat some of the top guys. That's how 50 got his solo album. The WWE must be crazy, they are setting up Cena for a HUGE fall cause when not if but when he gets his ass kicked in the rap battle then the fans would no longer respect his gimmick or even barely buy it. Secondly I think the Proof idea is idiotic if they don't bring in Eminem. I like Proof and think he is decent, however I am a huge fan of rap both mainstream and underground and I couldn't pick Proof out of a line up. That goes for all of D-12 except Bizare and Em for obvious reasons. I would probably recognize him as a member, but wouldn't know his name. The only way the WWE is going to reach Attiude levels of popularity again is to get a mainstream artist who can deliver the instant news coverage like Tyson did, and then knock every show until and after the event out of the park. I applaud the effort, but Proof is not the man to do it. 50 and Em would be huge additions to the card, but I don't think we are going to see any noteable rapper want to battle Cena because A) They aren't going to want to let Cena win B) It would probably coast him some credibility just by being at the event C) If Em or 50 were to do it with Cena it would instantly hurt their credibility with the African American community. It would look like they only did it to put over some white guy who dosen't have alot of skill. I like Cena alot, but he isn't the best rapper. With Em's trouble already with the whole tape where he used the n word, and 50 already being called out by alot of people for the way he portrays black men I don't think either really want the WWE hanging over them right now. Cena on Smackdown he does spoken word more then he raps. This doesn't really help Proof if he loses then he would be open target for disses. But the payoff could bring Eminem in if doesn't ask for too much money. Thats probably why they just bring in a rapper who's not going to ask for alot of money. The PROBLEM is that rappers take these battles extremely serious and no one will lie down for Cena in one for any amount of money. They just aren't going to do it. I get why they are trying to get proof, cause they are stupid enough to believe Cena can beat the low grade D12 guy. Hopefully, they are going to find a way to avoid Cena getting into a rap battle.
