imajackoff? 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 T.O. is a player, so the NFLPA has to represent him. No way this deal get rescinded. If it was, then every prima donna bitch that got dealt somewhere he didnt want would try to weasel out of it.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted March 7, 2004 This is just getting silly. TO and his agent are the fuck ups so why are we going to punish the 9ers and the Ravens for that?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Well...if what LaParka posted last page is true: "Apparently the date for voiding the contract was changed, and Owens and his agent didn't know about it. The agent for Dennis Northcutt didn't know either, so this wasn't totally isolated. " and no one bothered to inform them about a change in contract...then T.O. should have a good case. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted March 7, 2004 but wasn't the date changed in 2000?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 I don't know the story. But if two different agents had the same thing happen...something's fishy.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 T.O. is supposed to report to Baltimore tomorrow for a physical as a part of the trade. I doubt thats going to happen. Of course, if he was smart he could try and purposely fail the physical so that the Ravens would have to cancel the trade themselves...
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 The Eagles didn't offer jack for him and if the deal gets nullified then you know what the Niners should do? Send him home. Don't play him. Don't trade him or trade him to the worse team you can find. I don't feel bad for TO and I certainly don't feel bad for the lowballing Eagles.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 From the Washington Post: The deadline for Owens to void the final three seasons in his contract originally was to come in early March, but was changed through an agreement between the league and the union. A source said yesterday that Joseph was notified of that change by fax. Joseph would be Owens' agent. Maybe a couple of agents didn't get the fax. Also, TO was the one whining about how the date was changed and him and his agent weren't notified, so that piece of info should be taken with a grain of salt. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Personally...I'd rather T.O. go to Baltimore. I can't wait to see how THAT plays out. The guy bitched about Garcia as QB...can't wait to see him with Boller and an emphasis on the run. Run your mouth T.O. Please...I want Ray Lewis to crush you. Anyway...I predict this ends up rattling the young QB. Also...you'd think something as important as a change in contract would come with a phone call. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted March 8, 2004 The Browns offered Garcia a contract and it looks like Couch will be getting the boot if that happens.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted March 8, 2004 They changed the DEADLINE, not the DATE. It's not like there was only one day out of the entire year that his contract could have been voided, they jus decided to wait until the last minute.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 9, 2004 T.O. was on Sportscenter recently, comparing his what-he-thought-was free agency to a being a kid on Christmas, and then finding out about it being all depressing. Well, Terrell, kids make sure to send their letter to Santa BEFORE Christmas.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted March 9, 2004 I don't understand why the union gives a shit about Owens. Well, no, I do, they want money. What I don't understand is how the're gonna justify it to the rest of the players that this guy got his trade cancelled and got to send in his notice late just because he uses every last breath in his body to bitch. Do you think Northcutt is going to get his contract voided? hell no, cause there's no 15 million dollar signing bonus waiting for him. oh and here's an interesting tidbit I read lately. If Owens continues to fuck around and skips training camp and what not, the Ravens may try and get him to return the signing bonus on the remaining years of his contract. It's interesting because the Niners were the ones who paid it, and the outcry would be hilarious.

LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 Seattle re-signs Darrell Jackson Bucs sign Charlie Garner Looks like DJ gets to drop some more passes with the Seahawks. They have a solid offense, but the D could be shaky without a quality corner like Springs. Garner is a much better running back than Michael Pittman, and his style should mesh well with Mike Alstott. There has also been rumors than the Bucs might have to release John Lynch over restructuring problems. That could be a big blow.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 I don't think the dropped passes will be a problem next year. I think the Seahawks (offense at least) will be much more confident.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 DJ is much, much better as a number 2 guy than a number one. He would have had a Peerless Price time of it in Philly or something. Much better for him to stay with in Seattle. If Hasselbeck doesn't let the INT from overtime last season bother him, they should be fine on offense.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 DJ is much, much better as a number 2 guy than a number one. He would have had a Peerless Price time of it in Philly or something. Much better for him to stay with in Seattle. If Hasselbeck doesn't let the INT from overtime last season bother him, they should be fine on offense. In Peerless Price's defense, he did have Doug FREAKIN Johnson throwing the ball. He and Kitner can't throw the ball further than 15 yards down field. doesn't really help a speed reciever. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 In the other direction...Peerless Price drops easy balls...won't block...and was WAYYYY overpaid for someone who never had to play without a better reciever on the other side of the field.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 In the other direction...Peerless Price drops easy balls...won't block...and was WAYYYY overpaid for someone who never had to play without a better reciever on the other side of the field. True...true. But I can attribute his dropping alot of passes this year to the QB change (going from a lefty to a righty back to a lefty is tough). I don't know what the excuse was in Buffalo...but he is still a better than average reciever.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 He only had the one good year. The first three years of his career he would quit on plays...but he ran his mouth enough that we knew he'd have a break out year in his contract season.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted March 9, 2004 Gruden is showing that he isn't as smart as everyone once thought. Keeping Brad Johnson and signing Garner to a fat contract is suicide. Garner was replaced by Tyrone Wheatley last year, and Brad Johnson was atrocious. Bad, Bad. Bad.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 Johnson was really good at the beginning of the year. He definately went downhill somewhere in the middle of the year though, and ended the season pretty badly. Still, he isn't a useless QB...better than, say, Tim Rattay or AJ Feeley. Plus, Gruden did try to sign Garcia.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 I guess Dallas might sign Tim Couch since Parcells loves the immobile quarterback who can throw. Considering they may get Keyshawn as well, Dallas will be in good shape entering the draft. The defense is solid and if they can grab a ground game then they will be set. Personally I think they should pass on Couch and give Carter another chance with a ground game. I didn't understand the drafting of him but he deserves a chance with a running back. Cause Troy Hambrick is NOT it. He's the Ron Dayne of the Dallas Cowboys. A big man who REFUSES to run like a big man.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 The Steelers have signed Duce Staley to a 5 year deal says the local ESPN Raido station. I was wondering who he was going to sign with. Anyway, the Browns aren't going to be any better with Garcia, and Im sure the Ravens can't wait to face him 2 times next year after absolutely killing him in the game last season. And if the Ravens don't get Owens to play for them, they are screwed at WR with Robinson going to the Vikings and Darrell Jackson resigning with the Seahawks. What good FA WR are left? the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Dez White I would be shocked, though, if Owens does not end up on the Ravens. As soon as Ozzie comes to him with a reworked contract, including a signing bonus, he will be a Raven. The Chargers are looking to trade David Boston now, though. If he could be had cheap (3rd or 4th round pick), he could be worth a flyer if he will rework his deal. They can't expect much in trade, I would imagine. C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 The Eagles signed Dhani Jones to be the new Strongside LB. So the Giants got Emmons & The Eagles got Jones. Jones is younger, but if Emmons is healthy I think he's a much better player. The Eagles desparately need to get some help for Simmeneau (sp?). He was completely worn down by the end of last year. Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 I haven't been actually actively reading this thread, as I just wanted to see what people said about Duce to the Steelers. But, with all the TO to Baltimore talk, you guys seem to (if you didn't, I apologize) have missed the fact that TO says he will not play for Baltimore. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1752478
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 He'll play for the Ravens, after the arbitration hearing goes against him, and Ozzie Newsome is still willing to present him with a reworked contract. And then Ray Lewis will lay him out the first day of training camp, and all will be right with the world.
