Orton's Test

Recommended Posts

So, for the last six or so months, Randy Orton has been the recepient of the biggest WWE push since Brock Lesnar. Some think he doesn't deserve his push, and is the bane of WWE, and others think he is great.

But, like it or not, he has a upper mid card/main event worthy match with Mick Foley at Wrestlemania.

Wait a minute.

Mick Foley. The guy who retired four years ago... coming back... and his first match back is with Orton.

That's HUGE for Orton... but the big test is if he can carry it off. If this main event fails, if Orton continues to get no heat, then he will surely go the way of Test. They expected big things from him, but when he continually failed to get over, he was resigned to the midcard 4 life.

Wrestlemania is Orton's test, it will either make or break him. How do you think he will do?

Well the Torches and the Observers of the world are saying its going to be a tag match, with Rock and Foley against Orton and someone else (batista or flair probably)...??

A one on one match makes much more sense though.

I wanna see his match with Jericho from the Japan tour.

Oh and um, yeah, he has no heat and will only kill Foley, or something like that.....

Even if Orton does fail the "test," WWE still won't give up on him. Just look at Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly.

If they don't want to put Orton in too much spotlight, if they think he's not ready, then putting Rock in the match would be a great way to pop the crowd... the Rock and Sock connection scored the highest rated segment in Raw history... them appearing at Mania XX would be appropriate.

But if Orton comes out of it still not really that over (he is over people... but nowhere near the level a main event heel should be) then he might be resigned to the midcard for a while...

They were never serious.

Orton will never get over if 2 of the biggest personalities of WWE are his opponets.

Don't be silly. Over the last eight months, Randy has failed every test put before him. Bombing at Mania won't stop them from trying.

::Watches Monday's Raw::

Try again.

They haven't had an Orton/Test feud yet. Maybe that will help, but they have to make sure it goes at least as long as the Steiner/Test feud.

I missed Raw, but I'll tape it later and get back to you Anglesault. But it seems to me that Orton has had mild, only mild heel heat in previous segments on Raw. I'm not saying he's HHH 2000 or anything.

He's really not.

It was actually quite incredible to watch.

They did a sequence where HBK would try to comeback from Randy's restholds and then Randy would cut him off repeatedly. Traditionally...this makes the crowd cheer for the comebacks...then boo when the heel cuts them off.

Well...the crowd clapped for HBK's comebacks and then fell SILENT every time Orton cut him off and took control back.

I've never seen it done to that extreme before...and after watching Orton since his return...I honestly believe that Monday Night's Raw was the biggest example of how unover Orton actually is.

Add to that the 3 people reacting to him laying out Foley in the back...and the silence that met his enterance.

People who say Orton is not over...well...they aren't making it up.

Is it fair to say that WWE is giving Randy Orton a half ass god push? At times it works such as the production videos then they have Foley or whoever knock him down 2 steps.

On the subject of Orton's push, was there any real reason for God boy to beat him (again) on RAW?

EXACTLY.

Shit, if Mania doesn't get Orton over, they'll try even HARDER. There's really no upswing to this if you're not an Orton fan.

Orton needs a new gimmick, and he needs to be put over people, and not just RVD. He needs clean wins over the likes of HBK in order to be taken seriously by anyone, but that won't happen because HBK is every bit as political as HHH, but HBK can work a match so us smarks are far more forgiving of him.

Orton reminds me of that guy, I forget his name, but he was a really prep-school time, but he had a dark side and would commit acts of violence, even murder. Make Orton a Ted Bundy type, handsome and educated on the outside, but it hides a cold blooded monster. This would be reinforced my calm toned interviews, but he'd be merciless in the ring. He wouldn't have to improve much either. -shrug-

Well if Beniot does become champion who is he going to defend the title against...........Booker T, RVD, Edge?

Those are all faces...and so is Benoit.

And so is HBK.

There are no Heels on Raw not named HHH that could contend for the title.

Uh-oh. You've uncovered the master plan.

Goldberg, RVD, HBK, Benoit, Booker T, even Jericho are all faces.

Wonder how that all happened?

No one in the company has a clean win over HBK.

What are you talking about?

Orton probably has the most clean wins for a heel not named Triple H in the WWF right now. And let's face it no one's going over HBK right now.

Orton shouldnt be tested at WrestleMania XX.

It's simple too much of a potential hallmark to be wasted by 'testing' young talent.

Besides a 20-something face and a family legacy, Orton doesnt really have anything over on the rest of the Raw line-up when you factor:

Mic Work

Ring Work

Personality

Name Power

General Interest

Orton is just another waste of space from OVW, he will bomb at Mania but he will still get pushed down our throats b/c Paul McMahon wants his pet project to succeed.

(I can't believe i wasted my 1000 post on the Crowd Killer.)

The only logical thing that can happen is a stable to form to beat Evolution. If they put Jericho in the top face role, Shawn in the Flair role, Matt Hardy in the IC role and Jindrak in the hoss role.

Then have Kane vs Benoit in as the title fued.
