Michrome Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Low Ki is back with RoH, and has been added to the 3-way at 2/14, making it a 4-way (was that redundant?). Low Ki vs. Samoa Joe vs. BJ Whitmer vs. Dan Maff It hurts just thinking about it...
OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Wasn't he already back? I thought I saw him on the January shows.
Guest bort Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 He was Homicides corner man for a match, good to see Ki back in ROH. I hope to see him jobbed out a bit before getting anther superman push as Ki spends alot of time in Z-1 and left ROH high and dry, good worker though
OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 No. He wrestled the Janurary MLW Reloaded matches. On 1-9 he wrestled Homicide and on 1-10 he wrestled Chad Collyer. I think the Homicide match was on the first Underground TV show of the year. Gary Hart ended up coming out and they jumped Jerry Lynn.
Guest Joe_G Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Rob Feinstein was at the World-1 show last night, maybe he and Ki smoothed things out. I love this line from the ROH website: "What are Ki's goals in this match?" Uh, to win, maybe? I am now officially super stoked for the show.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Whoops, stupid me. I for some reason was thinking MLW when you were talking ROH. Sorry!
JustJoe2k5 Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 The Second Anniversary show is shaping up to be a must-see event. The exchanges between B.J. Whitmer and Low Ki should be great, A.J. Styles vs. Jimmy Rave and Backseat Boyz vs. Briscoe Brothers should be awesome as well.
Guest JustinCredible2k Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 This is awesome. Ive missed him. He is THE best indy worker today IMO. For RoH to have him makes them that much better.
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Fucking girlfriend and her insistance upon spending Valentine's Day together! GRRRRR!!!!!
tpww7 Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I dont know WHY they announced it now... But WHOO
Guest OSIcon Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I dont know WHY they announced it now... But WHOO Probably to try and persuade any fans to attend that may be border line on going to the show right now. Like Meltzer is fond of saying, "Mystery Man" doesn't sell tickets. Someone showing up completely unannounced without even a teaser does even less. Sure, it gets a nice pop, but that is it. In the end, what's better? A pop for a surprise entrance or extra money from ticket sales? It seems pretty basic but a lot of people (Vince Russo especially) seem to forget that. Anyway, I am in the "I don't mind him" camp when it comes to Low Ki. I think he is far from being the top notch worker people make him out to be but he is still entertaining most of the time and his matches are at least fun to watch. Plus, another guy that people want to see working in ROH is certainly a good thing for the promotion. The four way sounds a lot better than the three way. Three ways tend to be a lot ahrder to put together than four corners matches, since you have the problem of what to do with the extra guy. Plus, if this match is what it should ne (which is just everyone being ultra stiff) then it should be a lot of fun.
Nevermortal Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Fucking girlfriend and her insistance upon spending Valentine's Day together! GRRRRR!!!!! Bro's before ho's man!
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I'm a Low Ki fan.... but why is he being put in the title match? He hasn't wrestled for ROH in months.
Nevermortal Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I'm a Low Ki fan.... but why is he being put in the title match? He hasn't wrestled for ROH in months. The kayfabe reason is that Samoa Joe is trying to prevent a double team from the Prophecy of Whitmer and Maff, however, ROH is playing it up like Low Ki may be more inclined to go for the title then continue his war against the Prophecy.

The kayfabe reason is that Samoa Joe is trying to prevent a double team from the Prophecy of Whitmer and Maff, however, ROH is playing it up like Low Ki may be more inclined to go for the title then continue his war against the Prophecy. But the kayfabe reason makes no sense since the ROH World Title's appeal is based upon the fact that guys have to earn their title shot. The entire point of the number one contenders trophy was to prevent another Xavier title win, where someone gets the shot for the sake of getting the shot and gets a lucky victory. Why not just make Low-Ki the last entrant in the pure wrestling tourney? The same effect is achieved (borderline fans now want to attend the show because Low-Ki's there) and it doesn't cause confusion in the World Title picture.
Guest ToddRoyal Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 That was my first question too. Low Ki would be great in the PWT. Problem with that is ROH is probably set on who the mystery guy would be, and couldn't just add Low Ki without bumping someone. In this case, they can add him without bumping anyone, which I think is the most likely reason he's in the title/trophy match.
Jack_Bauer Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Can I just say YAHOO ! Low Ki is an awesome wrestler, and I'm sure most ROH ( assuming they don't get all smartarse with backstage bullshit ) fans will be happy to see it.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Fucking girlfriend and her insistance upon spending Valentine's Day together! GRRRRR!!!!! Dude, I am in the same boat. DAMN BROADS!!!!!!

Low Ki is an awesome wrestler, and I'm sure most ROH ( assuming they don't get all smartarse with backstage bullshit ) fans will be happy to see it. I'm happy to see Low Ki back too. But if I'm gonna call WWE out for logic gaps, then I'm gonna call out ROH for logic gaps, and that's a gaping hole in logic there.
Guest OSIcon Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I agree that it certainl isn't air tight booking but I don't mind it too much. Sometimes you have to weigh two positive options and go with the one that will ultimately help the promotion the most. In this case, the choice was between air tight booking logic and working the biggest star of your promotion from its early days into a meaningful match so it will sell more tickets. Neither choice is 100 percent perfect but you have to go with one or another.
JustJoe2k5 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I don't think it would've been that hard to take Josh Daniels out of the Pure Wrestling Tournament and just have him compete in a regular match earlier in the show, but adding Low Ki to the main event will definitely help it look better on paper. Now, the only match on the Second Anniversary Show that doesn't look good to me is the Country Whipping match between Carnage Crew and Special K.
