First image from Mortal Kombat Deception!

Just found this while roaming around online:

Ever wonder why Khan wore a mask?

unmasked-shaokahn2.jpg

Heh--that, and the fact that his live actor was really babyfaced. :P

There are a ton of cameos but plenty of characters that aren't really playable. Too bad, because I was disappointed Jax isn't playable.

Hell, Meat even made it in. I don't wanna know where he kept those 1000 koins at.

The pic of Kahn is from the comic. So it's accuracy is questionable.

My problem with Jax is that he's way overexposed. He was in every game from MK II and on. That's like a decade of Jax.

Noob was my most hated character until MKD.

You like Jax? From just about all MK players I've encountered, Jax is public enemy number one. I despise the guy, and have since MK3.

UYI

I thought that was Stryker who was the most hated?

Why did you hate him since MK3? Quad Throw? :P

The thing I hated most about MKII was the computer's throw abuse, and thus Jax was even worse--don't get me started on MKII Jax in Trilogy.

Although, I never really hated playing *as* him, exactly.

I didn't know he was in MK4. *shrug* Of course, I haven't played that much, so either way it makes no difference.

Jaysus is there a lot of hidden stuff in this game. I'd went on a buying spree in the Krypt and still there's a ton of stuff. Sure, a lot of probably just junk, but there's a lot of cool stuff as well. This game's totally rekindled my interested in MK, plus the story, characters, etc are better than ever. Who'd know Ermac would ever become really cool?

Plus this has one of the best intros I've ever seen. The only one I like nearly as much is Tekken 2's.

Anya: I'm a little upset I didn't get all the missions completed in the village. From what I understand, you can't go back and redo stuff there once you're out of the village. Do you know what missions that you *have* to do at a certain time or you miss the opportunity? I'm trying to get everything possible with an FAQ checklist, but some things I can't do yet, and so forth.

In other words, what *important* missions should I do and when before it is too late? The stuff you only get koins for doesn't matter. I know I have to make sure I get into the White Lotus when I get the chance, but haven't been able to yet although I've kicked Jax's ass.

For reference: I've just arrived at Order Realm for the first time, Hotaru trained me, and I gotta go after the Resistance leader.

Wonder where that emissary is; "Parlos Cassina"--*snerk*.

Damn, this Orderlies are gigantic tightasses. I prefer the Chaos hippies.

I figured something like that was up... Man... I couldn't find Kahn at all in the Outworld so it was odd.

That and the fact there wasn't anything remotely interesting about him or his story. His 'giant stomp' fatality is probably the worst of all time, as well.

And, like you said, actually fighting against him on any significant level of difficulty resulted in an insane amount of crazy throws that tore your health bar to pieces. Almost broken many controllers over that guy.

Jax is indeed in MK4. Pretty lame in it too.

I'm not sure of what all the missions are in the village. I do know if you miss anything important you can find it later. Like I missed a krypt key for the beetle lair soundtrack and it later appeared in the forests of Earthrealm.

Running into Mokap in Konquest is funny.

And yes, the giant stomp is the worst fatality ever.

And yes, the giant stomp is the worst fatality ever.

Not if they'd have had Jax scrape the guy off his boot.

I thought that "Worst Fatality Ever" would go to Super Sub-Zero's "whoops--we're too cheap to actually add a spine for this one, much like we wussed out on details in so many other MK3 fatalities" fatality. It would definitely be one of the MK3-ish fatalities, in any case.

Classic Sub-Zero's "spine rip" is lame, but at least you're not really seeing anything. You can like, imagine it or something. With Jax's you actually have to see the dumb growing effect and the big boot dropping down. It's especially bad on versions where the boot doesn't reach the top of the screen so it looks like a giant leg just fell from the sky.

The other fade to black fatal, Scorpion's gang fatality, is cool.

Someone told me a lot of fatalities for MKT were incomplete and just had the sceen fade to black.

On the topic of Sub-Zero's spine-rip, anyone find it weird that they gave it to Scorpion in MKD?

I think one of my personal favourite fatalities is Smoke's destruction of Earth from MK3. Sure, it's absolutely insane (perhaps even stupid), but it's the surrealness of it combined with its destructive natrue that I love.

I haven't played a Mortal Kombat game since two...though I might again soon.

But from the footage I saw of it...my favorite fatality...if for the goofiness of it...is Lui Kang's "Drop an Arcade Machine On Opponent" fatality.

Only two fatalities in UMK3 and MKT go black, and they're not really "incomplete". They just wanted them that way(one due to laziness).

I read the update and e-mailed him about some stuff.

My favorite fatalities:

Sub-Zero's classic spine rip in MK1.

Kung Lao vertically cutting them in half in MK II.

Sektor's giant compactor crushing them in MK3.

Quan Chi's rip their leg off and beat them with it in MK4.

Kung Lao's hat throw and Cyrax's giant claw in MKDA.

Plus most of the male ninjas just had DECAPITATION UPPERCUT! OH YEAH!! Plus it was done in that lazy "they look like we cut paper dollies heads off with this" MK3 fashion. Take a look at Classic Jax in MKT's fatality vs. the MKII version. In MKII, we get chunks of head scattered everywhere, and the decapitated body lands on its knees and flops stomach-first on the ground. In MKT--the body just stands there.

The 3 family has more variety, but they suck without the detail and work that was put in for MKII. The Pit II fatality vs. the other Pits, for instance.

My list of faves, in no particular order:

Quan Chi beating his opponent to death with his/her own leg.

MK1 Subbie Spine Rip

Kano Heart Rip (Although Kobra's version builds on it, the effect of

holding up the heart with it beating isn't there)

MKII Lui Kang Dragon Chomp (the MK3 version blows, and the MKII version, with the morphing effect, still looks 10x cooler than in MK4)

Tsung's Kintaro Morph

MKII Kung Lao's vertical slice

MKII Reptile's head snack (the UMK3 version is lame)

Ermac is the only male ninja to have an uppercut decap fatal in MKT. Hardly "most of them".

The decaps look bad in MKT because they didn't film expecting to have any. There weren't any in MK3 so the actors never filmed falling down for them. The only decap in MK3 is Sektor's Animality.

Some stuff looks good in MK3. The skin rip fatalities have more gory detail than anything in MK II. The flame fatalities also good good. I like a lot of the goofy stuff. The Belltower pit is funny, so is Sub's where he blows ice and they fall over backwards. The animation of the characters fallin over backwards, stiff as a board, is really funny.

Quan Chi's leg rip in MK4 had me in hysterics for weeks. It's so friggen brutal and nasty that it's hilarious - it is those kinds of moments that make me love Mortal Kombat.

I'm also a pretty big fan of watching Sub-Zero tearing out Scorp's skeleton when he is in his alternate costume (flaming skull). His skull remains, meaning Scorp must've had a 'skull to protect his skull' deal going on. Great stuff.

I hate how Quan Chi has the mimic fatality in MK4 yet Shinnok is the character who mimics others special moves. Chi and Shinnok should swap fatals. Chi should have the skeleton hand fatals and Shinnok should have the leg beat and mimic.

I also hate how Cyrax uses bombs in the game, yet Smoke has two bomb fatalities. Also Sektor uses the self destruct in his ending, yet Cyrax has the Fatality. Cyrax should have Smoke's fatals and Sektor should have Cyrax's.

I just unlocked the last few koffins on Xbox. So now I've got them all on Xbox and PS2. Yay for me.

I don't know why but MK II is harder for me then 3.

Times I've beaten MKII on MAT2: 0

Times I've tried: lots

Times I've beaten MK3: 2

Times I've tried*: 2

I haven't tried the "2nd player has a less difficult CPU opponent" tactic yet for MK2, though. I also find I can bypass Motaro fairly easily (whereas I have never even fought Kintaro yet!) by picking Sheeva (if I lose with my current kombatant) and stomping on him repeatedly. Cheap? Yes. Effective? You bet. I did that to beat Shao Kahn too, so now that I've beaten it as Sheeva I just throw the fight against Kahn and keep picking people until I win that fight.

*For the purposes of this message, "tried" is defined as the amount of times I sat down to play the game with the intent of playing it through to an ending before hitting my mattress really hard (no damage to me or my property, but it fufills the violent act of needing to hit something) and deciding to shut the PS2 off / play something else, not the amount of times I actually had to kontinue (a lot).

I mentioned his animality....

"The only decap in MK3 is Sektor's Animality. "

I got MKD on the 5th. So it took like two weeks.

Sorta on topic but mostly way off, are there any SF Plot FAQs as good as Gavok's MK one? I see two on GameFAQs (one is only 57k).

Looking a bit further, it seems Tiamat's format for the Plot FAQ follows Gavok's format almost exactly, so I'll probably read it later.

About a Fatality archive, when I did a google image search (which I feared would be an awful, awful idea with the word 'fatality', but the MK keeped other stuff away) there was a URL that one would think had just that... but it was Forbidden. Then I came across this

http://mkw.mortalkombatonline.com/ (and something tells me it's been mentioned before)

it has a Fatality theatre for MK1, 2, 4, Gold, and DA.

It's from the Genesis version of MK II. When you do the test menu cheat that thing takes the place of Dan Forden's head whenever "toasty" is said.

I've heard it's a kid's drawing from someone from Probe, but who knows.
