There's dirt on your shoulder...

Recommended Posts

Fuck you, guys. I like "Change Clothes."

That's because you have a vagina. Sand-filled might I add.

I consider "Slow Jamz" to be more Kanye West's than Twista. If I were to think of the title, it would be Kanye West f. Twista, not the other way around. Not to mention that Kanye produced that song. It really is a great song though.

I wonder why mainstream rap is so much better received than mainstream rock? Interesting.

Is there a video for Dirt Off Your Shoulder yet? I think "Edge" and Ricky Williams running people over would make a great video. That song is such a song for football it's not even funny.

Actually, Kanye gave the song to Twista, so originally it was Kanye's song. Since the song blew up its on both of their albums. Its good that Chicago people getting some shine.

As far as I've noticed, no one's taken Jay-Z to task for the track "Moment of Clarity." Examine the following:

Hustlers and boosters embrace me

And the music i be makin

I dumb down for my audience

And double my dollars

They criticize me for it

Yet they all yell "Holla"

If skills sold

Truth be told

I'd probably be

Lyrically

Talib Kweli

Dude's saying that he dumbs down his flow so that more people would buy his albums. Makes sense, sure, but he's basically telling a large portion of his audience that they're too stupid to appreciate something "smart."

I don't argue that people who listen to Jay-Z are a bunch of idiots. Its pretty obvious

That's because it has that incredibly unique Eminem-produced beat.

Also, FrigidSoul, I'll put you in a trash can and roll you down the stairs. Like, at least four stairs. Don't front.

This was totally a classic thread until BBCW and FrigidSoul douched it up.

I tried my best trying to get some combustable elements in. looks like it worked, but at wrong times. Even the gay porn I left out for Damaramu is gone.

Please tell me you didn't just put the words "unique" and "Eminem-produced beat" anywhere near each other, let alone the same sentence. That in itself is a joke. Em may be a talented lyricist, but when it comes to the production, the guy's beats are clones of each other (and that's not a good thing).

I thought he was being sarcastic. "Incredibly unique" is what tipped it off. That song is pretty generic.

Speaking of which, Eminem is coming out with a CD in March I believe. How well will that one sell?

YPOV gets the cookie. I thought "incredibly" was the giveaway, too.

Eminem's beats generally blow, but I will give him credit for "Renegades" off of The Blueprint, which is one of his first notable tracks and actually probably remains his best. It's got a nice start-stop minor key thing going on.

Better than Kylie! HYUCK

You just had to drag me into your thread somehow, didn't you.

Fucker.

I'm glad to hear it was just sarcasm. You'll have to remember I'm around a lot of people who would say such a thing and not have a hint of sarcasm in their tone. I'm sure I'm not the only one with a situation like that.

I really don't mind Eminem's beats. Dispite the similarity, I really like the beats for "The Cross" and "Moment of Clarity"...they're simple, but they really work well with the feel of the songs. I also like Em's beat for "We all die one day" on Obie Trice's album. That one is hot as hell.

And speaking of nice beats, I just picked up College Dropout yesterday...have I mentioned how big a fan I am of Kanye West?

Alpha step, omega step. What a charmer. With the exception of the mediocre Ludacris track and maybe a few too many skits, it's pretty much impeccable. I've probably listened to it a dozen times since getting it last Tuesday.

I like "Through the Wire" Kanye get extra points for rapping with a wired jaw. I might buy his album, and Im plugging Little Brother's album. As for Eminem he needs someone else work on the boards and stick with rapping. Dejaun Porter (Kon Artis) from D12 is better producer than Em is, him and dre should produce Em's next album.

Ludacris has been sounding very raspy, lately. He sounds downright hoarse on the Kanye album, and like he's been smoking too many Marlboros on certain parts of Chicken-n-Beer.

It's definitely an impressive track, but it's been floating around so long that I sorta got tired of it long before they started giving it heavy rotation on the radio. It's funny that in the last few weeks everyone's been all like, "Dude, have you heard of this new guy Kanye West?!" That's radio listeners for ya.

Ludacris has been sounding very mediocre, lately. I haven't even noticed what he's sounded like, I've just noticed how weak most of his lyrical content has been as of late. He wasn't ever a great lyrical guy, but he was almost always entertaining. Now he just seems to be phoning it in.

Its true. If you're going to start a rap thread and not mention DMX, Nas, RZA/Bobby Digital, and Snoop then don't start one.

DMX: awful

Nas: One can only go on for so long about the greatness of Illmatic. Jay-Z did a nice owning of him on "The Takeover," at least. There's always that.

RZA: Only if you wanna talk about the Wu-Tang Clan.

Snoop: Far more impressive as a comedian than a rapper these days.
