WHO IS THE NEW NWA DIRECTOR OF AUTHORITY?

In a final decision prior to stepping down from power and disbanding, the entire NWA Board of Directors voted this past week to declare a new NWA Director of Authority, who will be revealed on February 18 live on PPV! Dozens of names have surfaced - but no one is talking! Who will step up to try and counter Jeff Jarrett's absolute power in TNA? We'll have our answer on Wednesday's TNA broadcast!

JUGGALO STREET FIGHT

THE INSANE CLOWN POSSE VS. TWO FROM JARRETT'S ALLIANCE

On 2/4, the Insane Clown Posse issued a challenge to any two superstars from Jarrett's group to a Juggalo Street Fight on February 18! Come as you are, bring whatever weapons you want! The question is, who will step up from Jarrett's crew to face the Juggalo Army inside the Asylum? Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope certainly proved they could bring it inside the ring in their TNA wrestling debut. The question is, will they be so lucky this time around?

DEBUT OF "PLAYIN' FAIR WITH JONNY!"

America's most hated man promised it, and on February 18 he'll deliver - the TNA debut of "Playin' Fair With Jonny!" Host and celebrity mogul Jonny Fairplay will have his own forum to discuss what he wants with whom he wants!

*Due to unforeseen circumstances, Joanie Laurer will NOT be appearing on Wednesday's TNA PPV

TAG CHAMPS - STYLES AND...ABYSS?!

As the world witnessed on the Wednesday, February 4 TNA Pay-Per-View, AJ Styles once again overcame incredible odds (with some help from AMW's Chris Harris) to win the NWA World Tag Team Championship! The only problem is, his championship partner is the monster who tried to end his career - Abyss! What will happen on February 18 when Styles and Abyss are inside the same arena? Will they be forced to defend the championship...TOGETHER?! Tune in and find out!

TERRY FUNK AND RAVEN vs. THE GATHERING OF PUNK AND JULIO

On the Americas X Cup Pay-Per-View, hardcore legend Terry Funk promised to bring Raven back to TNA this Wednesday to join forces against Father Jim Mitchell's Gathering of CM Punk and Julio! No one has heard from Raven since he disappeared weeks ago - the question is, can Terry Funk deliver? Will Raven return to the Asylum this Wednesday night to get revenge on Mitchell, Punk and Julio? Tune in!

TEAM NWA IN 8-MAN COMPETITION - BUT WILL LYNN PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE?

NWA World Heavyweight Jeff Jarrett warned Jerry Lynn not to show up at the Asylum on Wednesday unless he and Team NWA won the Americas X Cup! Based on their defeat in the mega-event, Jerry Lynn must now apparently face the wrath of Jarrett this Wednesday night! However, we've also learned that Team NWA (Lynn, Sabin, Primetime and Dutt) will be in 8-man action this Wednesday night! Is Team NWA gearing up for the next international tournament?

RON "THE TRUTH" KILLINGS (3LK) vs. MICHAEL SHANE (NEW FRANCHISE)

Since losing the NWA tag team gold thanks to the New Franchise of Shane Douglas, Michael Shane and the lovely Traci, 3LK have promised a beatdown come Wednesday, February 18 on Pay-Per-View! According to TNA matchmakers, a bout has been signed this Wednesday featuring 3LK member Ron "The Truth" Killings against New Franchise member Michael Shane! Two of the youngest and gifted stars from two of TNA's top alliances will face off!

ALSO ON THE TNA PAY-PER-VIEW:

DUSTIN RHODES AND EL LEON (THE LION) VS. REDSHIRT SECURITY

In recent weeks, both Dustin Rhodes and the masked juggernaut El Leon (The Lion) have been a thorn in the side of Jeff Jarrett. As a result, the NWA World Heayweight Champion has instructed Kevin Northcutt and Legend - The Redshirt Security - to put an end to both Rhodes and El Leon this week in tag team action!

ALL THIS AND MUCH MORE LIVE ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18!

It reads as if it could be a good show tonight. Of course, I've thought that in the past before and been horribly wrong. Nevertheless, I'm watching this evening, and despite seeing it for free, I expect no less than ten dollars worth of entertainment. Afterall, it's still taking up two hours of my time.

So, how many people are watching/ordering the show tonight?

I think I'll wait til Lazarus does a review of the show before buying the replay. Buying replay = avoids any original technical errors.

This show deserved a dead thread. Obscenely uninteresting outside of Raven and the main event, and then VINCE FUCKING RUSSO returning as the Director of Authority killed that too. STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID. So THAT'S why I didn't order a PPV in five months.

I thought it was a really good show. Nice little spotfest for an opener too. Raven is back to his "grunge" look. Him & Funk beat the Gathering when Raven hit the "Evenflow DDT." After the match, Raven cut a promo about "finding the old Raven." Pretty cool.

I'd order the replay if I was you guys. I think it's worth $10.

The new Director of Authority, as I predicted, is Vince Russo. Abyss & AJ Styles had some trouble with a table spot, but that was really the only low of the night. That Tracy bitch, although I have no clue who she is, is really fucking hot.

The opening 8-man tag was nice to open the show. Abyss vs AJ Styles was decent, but they botched up a table spot. The new DOA is Russo...and he looks less rat like with his clean shaven face and slicked back hair. I'm looking forward to the next America's X Cup which is on March 10 I believe...but I think they're going with just AAA and Team Canada, so unless I'm wrong, that'll give the fans nobody to cheer about since they're both heel teams. Oh, and Tenay is back-surprise.

Raven's back, but next week, he's teaming up with Spot-blower against The Gathering, unfortunately. Not sure how that match is going to turn out good when Sabu's involved.

Russo vs. Jarrett doesn't sound intriguing, to be honest.

Also...they gave a lot more time to the matches tonight overall...and less to talking...

Which I for one approve of...because there talking is rarely interesting...and I feel like I've enjoyed myself more when there's always a match on.

America Jr. vs. AAA for the Americas-X Cup? Eh, as long as Teddy Harts in it.

NOTES:

Hudson sucks on PBP. He miscalled Jerry Lynn's trademark move for the past 6 years, the Cradle Piledriver, by referring to it as a Tombstone.

Jeff Jarrett is totally uninteresting anywhere but in the ring. As a heel in the ring, he is ON. Harris was ready to throw the Southpaw, and Jarrett poked him in the eyes.

Kid Kash is STILL your new favorite wrestler. He tossed a loaf of bread to the Juggalo's. A LOAF OF BREAD.

So Elix Skipper is the new captain of Team TNA? Why? He's the worst worker of the three, and we have X-Division champion CHRIS SABIN right there. Why not make the CHAMPION of the X-Division the team leader? Oh, right. It's be logical. PFFT!

Styles/Abyss I wasn't feeling at all, which is a huge letdown considering I loved their first match a few months ago. This one basically played out like this: Styles goes for a move, Abyss reverses into a pancake, but Styles lands on his feet and hits an enziguri. Seriously. THAT'S THE WHOLE 10 MINUTE MATCH RIGHT THERE. And wouldn't the disqualification of Abyss thanks to Jarrett's interference mean AJ wins both belts, especially considering that a rule was set in place in late 2002 about how titles can exchange hands via DQ and count-out? Hey, Dutch, WATCH THE FUCKING SHOW.

I'd just like to point out that Scott Hudson is my favorite play-by-play man in the business today and Don West is my least favorite color commentator in the business.

Yes, I hate West more than Lawler.

That made for an interesting night from the broadcast booth.

I thought this was a pretty good show. Lots and lots of wrestling, which is what they need to do.

I think Canada vs. Mexico is a great idea. Canada will win, and then it'll be Canada vs. America, and any time I get to see the Hart Foundation v.2.0 is a good thing.

Is it me or does TNA suffer from a complete lack of direction? I keep getting the impression that Jarrett is all over the show, yet he's not really feuding with anyone. Rather, he's feuding with half the company at the same time. Its like all these PPVs are being spent building up to like ... nothing. Everything just seems so over the map that we're getting this thick puddle of a promotion where everyting runs together but itsn't going anywhere.

Figures. It really figures that they would put on a show that sounds soooooooo bad, right after a week that I really enjoyed. Now I'm not saying all of the America's X-cup matches were *****, but c'mon this terrible booking is killing the product.

I totally agree. There's no beginning and no end. That's why I think 2 or 3 Sunday ppv's a year is a good thing.

I'd say it was an average show but poor PPV (if that made sense).

They're onto something with the Americas Cup as it offers perfect fodder for their taped show.

I agree with both points.

I thought the actual shows booking was horrible though for the most part. I guess they needed to have one last show of the whole "Under New Management" chaos, with all of the Jarrett run ins and lame copout finishes. One thing that has really baffled me......a few weeks ago they had a match when El Leon worked Abyss, and El Leon apparently lost by DQ when Styles ran in. Now if he lost, Leon was to lose the mask. It was never mentioned in the aftermath. This happened AGAIN this week....with Styles and Abyss. Dont even bother having a stipulation if its not even going to be acknowledged, much less honored in the post match! Shit like that is worse than even WWE has done in years past. Also, if Lynn knew he was fired after last week, why did he even bother coming out for that tag, much less be able to be booked in it? I dont get it.

There was some good worked matches somewhat in the card, but as I said, the booking just baffled me. I wasnt feeling Jarrett-Harris at all for some reason. Russo as this new director.....hmmm, I'll give it a chance but I'm not sure how this makes sense in the long scheme of things....Russo as a babyface?

The Fairplay thing fell REALLY flat, as did most of the matches to the live crowd, other than the ICP thing of course. Only real positives to me were the opener (post match though was lame) and the tag with Raven. Cool to see him revert back to his old persona, even if it seems like the idea came from the Taker stuff in WWE - either that or thats complete coincidence.

Hope to see alot better direction next week without all of this Jarrett shit in every segment. I understand that his whole deal is supposed to be a knock at the competition in some weird subconsious way, but its getting out of hand where the product is really getting affected. The booking is struggling enough without Jarrett being the antithesis of every finish and storyline.

Anyway March 10 should be cool though, and I would assume that then leads to Canada v. USA in April maybe?
