Guest T®ITEC Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Phone Booth - 8.5/10 Just so fucking awesome. Probably my favourite Kiefer Sutherland movie, as it doesn't get much better than listening to him being all crazy and villainous. I simply adore the ending, after Stu is drugged. Wonderful imagery to leave the audience with. The comedic value of this movie shouldn't go unmentioned, either. The Caller had such a sense of humour.
Youth N Asia Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Panic Room 5 out of 10 Worth my time, but nothing great or that I'll watch again any time soon.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Just watched my DVD of AB again; American Beauty (1999) (9.3/10)
Insane Bump Machine Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Basic - ** too many plot twists, and the story still manages to be boring as well. Travolta and Jackson are wasted. Changing Lanes - ***1/2 now this is more like it. Great script and fine acting, even by Affleck. It drags a bit, though. Haute Tension (aka Switchblade Romance in the US) - **** Wow, sick stuff here. A definite recommendation for all horror and gore fans. Loved the nods to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'm not sure if I like the plot twist yet, I guess I'll watch it again soon.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 The Ladykillers (2004) (7.9/10) Wow, I was pleasantly surprised. I love the Coen brothers, and this movie falls right in place as yet another great comedy. Tom Hanks was wonderful, and Irmall Hall and JK Simmons was very funny. Laughs all throughout the movie, and the ending was hilarious. Best Coen Brothers film? No, not even close .. but a damn good one.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 Walking Tall - (7.5/10) I didn't find many problems with the movie except for it's running time, and I thought Neal McDonough could've been given a bit more to do. The Rock is turning into one fine actor, I enjoyed him here. Johnny Knoxville comes through with the comedy/humor and does a decent job with what he was given. The actress who played Deni... what else has she done ? I only remember her playing Colin Farrell's girlfriend in S.W.A.T.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 The actress who played Deni... what else has she done ? I only remember her playing Colin Farrell's girlfriend in S.W.A.T. Yeah, I was wondering that as well. She's pretty hot. According to IMDB, she hasn't done anything major, besides appearences in SWAT, A.I., and was casted in two tv shows..
BlackFlagg Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 Demolition Man - 7/10 Jason X - 7/10 Red Dragon - 8.5/10 Identity - 8/10
starvenger Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 Comic Book: The Movie - 7/10 Fun stuff, really just a whole mark out disc for comic/animation fans (all the princiapl actors are voiceover artists). Plus cameos by Kevin Smith, Bruce Campbell, Stan Lee, and Hef.
Insane Bump Machine Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 Batman Returns - *** Better than Schumacher's crap, but not as good as the first. Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker remain my favorite bat movies.
Si82 Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Over the last few days I have watched: Welcome to the Jungle (The Rundown) (8/10) A great action/adventure film with pleanty of great fights and comedy. The Rock is really becoming a start, Sean William Scott manages to be inoffencesive for most of the film and Christopher Walkens hams it up as the bad guy. A Time to Kill (8/10) A bit long and the score is a bit OTT at times but this is still a good drama with a bunch of great performances from a good cast. Face (7/10) A good little, gritty British crime drama with a quality cast of British actors.

Ashley Scott was in the second season of "Dark Angel" and played Huntress in "Birds of Prey"
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Jersey Girl (2004) - [7.5/10] Smith successfully ventures away from the mindless fun to a touching family-istic comedy. Afflect is actually real good, and Raquel Castro puts on a great debut, especially for an 7 year old. Solid film, too bad it basicly bombed at the box office.
Aero Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) (5/10) Wayne's World 2 (10/10) Yeah, 10/10 for Wayne's World 2. It's just one of my personal favorites. It's one of the movies that I pretty much know line for line.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Hellboy (2004) - [8.5/10] Wow. I loved this.
Youth N Asia Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: The Dream Warriors 6.5 out of 10 Worlds better than part 2. But it's aged very badly. The Hunted 7 out of 10 Decient movie. I like Tommy Lee Jones, but he was just a little old for the role.

Well not really, it wasn't expected to be a "Big Hit" in the first place, I say it's doing okay for what it is. Anyway... Pulp Fiction - (10/10) What can you possibly say about Pulp Fiction that hasn't already been said...
Hank Kingsley Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 The Rundown - 8/10 Just a really fun movie. I went in not expecting much, and had a great time watching it. The Rock is awesome and Scott was perfectly acceptable.
Insane Bump Machine Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 The Storm Riders - **1/2 This could have been good as an anime, but these CG effects look really stupid in a real movie. The story was predictable. It has Sonny Chiba and some cool fights and scenarios though.
Guest Choken One Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Lost in Translation 10/10 still fucking great.

Rather it was expecting it or not (and I know, I know, his films never made much money) but by todays standards, it had pretty fair amount of media coverage, it bombed. Kevin seems happy with it, so I guess thats all that matters.
DMann2003 Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I bought Matrix Revolutions, so I decided to watch the trilogy tonight, see how it all flows together.
ArkhamGlobe Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Last night I watched The Testament of Dr Mabuse, which was excellent.

Kevin seems happy with it, so I guess thats all that matters. Media coverage that was of course, bad. That can't help things, can it ? The media can't seem to get over Gigli or Bennifer, everybody else has. Then again, the media is the same folks who hyped them up.
Hank Kingsley Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 School of Rock - 8/10 Another movie I went into cold, and came out really enjoying it.
