The "What Film(s) Did You Watch Today" Thread

Recommended Posts

I really enjoyed Beyond the Sea. Maybe it's just the Kevin Spacey fanboy in me, but it was a fun movie with an amazing soundtrack and great acting by Spacey and Kate Bosworth. John Goodman and Bob Hoskins were really good, too.

Yeah, Spacey directed, wrote, produced, and starred in it (he's in all but about 5 minutes of the movie), and for whatever reason the critics bashed him for that. So what? It's not like he was a detriment. I liked it. 8/10

Black Hawk Down, 2nd viewing

10 out of 10

Just replaced Full Metal Jacket as my favorite war movie (although I still put it behind HBO's Band of Brothers mini series). It takes 30 minutes to set everything up, then it's all action for another 100 minutes or so. Awesome movie.

The Life Aquatic : 6/10

Wasn't nearly funny enough. I'm really hoping this elitist "comedy without the use of comedy" genre dies soon.

SCREAMING Ninja aka a whole bunch of other names

Rating -- Fun

I rescently watched the very cheap in price and quality somewhat "Screaming Ninja" DVD. For anyone reading this I would like to reccomend the final fight scene which was a fun one. I did read on the IMDB that there is an edited version of this. I am not sure if this is edited or not.

Overall the fight scene was pretty good with the villan and hero moving from place to place while they're fighting. The fight lasts a good amount amount of time and kind of reminded me of a video game where you clear one are, the villan runs to another area and than you fight them there until you finally get the victory.

The one problem with the fight was that you never felt the hero was in any sort of real trouble. In fact it's the villan you start to feel sympthany for since he's the one who just takes a vicious control segment from the hero. Maybe we were supposed to cheer for the hero beating the villan up for so long but that only works for so long in my opinion.

And there's an absolutely classic scene with a rock in this. It's something that will stay with you forever.

Finally watched SWAT. Incredibly cliche, paint-by-numbers plot, but things getting blowed up real good is always fun to watch. Not enough to rate this movie as good, but still fun to watch.

4/10

The Shining 10/10. One of those movies that no matter how many times you see it, it still scares the shit out of you

Finding Neverland: 9/10

It was a really beautiful movie with fantastic performances all round. Jonny Depp put in a beauty (but when doesn't he) however, sometimes when he was on closeup all I could notice was the copious amounts of eyeliner he was wearing.

Troy - B-

Since it strings away from the book, it looses points.

Cold Mountain - A+

Wow, one of the best movies I've ever seen. And they ended it right too, a rare A+ from me.
