The "What Film(s) Did You Watch Today" Thread

Recommended Posts

Serenity I expected something different, but was completly let down by a horrible story, bad acting, shady plotholes, and just not believable.

You're entitled to your opinion, but rating it a zero is just being a dick.

No, it was fully justified on how shitty this movie really is. Its on the same shittyness as Cutthroat Island.

I liked it, and Rotten Tomatoes gave it 80% favorable. I'm not trying to convince you to like it, but rating it a zero means it had no redeeming qualities whatsoever, which certainly isn't the case. But if you want to complete piss away any credibility your opinion has by taking a cheap shot at a movie that doesn't deserve your scorn, be my guest.

It had zero redeeming qualities for me. My opinion. I don't care if you like my opinion or not, but don't be a prick about it because I hated it and you liked it.

Anyways:

Rent

0.5/10 A little late for the movie and the singing was so forced compaired to other musicals.

Walk the Line

8/10. Good, but not the greatest it could have been. Not as good as Ray, but if you like the Man in Black, do pick this up.

Munich:

10/10. This is the best movie of the year, bar none.

The Hills Have Eyes

Just got back from the movies. The first hour drags and the second hour was predictable. It reminded me of the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Wrong Turn. Just not as good, which should tell you something right there.

Jarhead

9/10

Really well made, could feel the frustrations of these soldiers wanting to do something and being given a war that made them insignificant

Shopgirl

N/A

Would love to give a rating but the film cut off 15 minutes before ending at the theater I saw it at, liked it till that point though.

Tron

9/10

Seriously, I find it sad I enjoy the computer graphics of Tron more than the CGI crap that is being used in movies now. I don't even want to think about what a remake of TRON would look like.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I didn't like the fact that people were patting you on the back for giving it a zero. Someone had to make the counter-argument. If pointing out that there's another point of view makes me a prick, then so be it.

Honestly, I thought everyone was going to bash me for saying it sucked. If a movie sucked, it sucked.

The Hills Have Eyes:

3.5/10.

Block 16

7/10.

A History of Violence: 9/10

Starts with a nice satire of the "modern happy rural family" style, and takes an intense turn. Includes the most uncomfortably brutal sex scene I've seen in film and a great over-the-top performance by William Hurt.

Capote: 9/10

Tremendous performance by Hoffman, not only for capturing Capote's voice and mannerisms but for really going deep into Capote's change of emotion towards Perry and the decisions he had to make in regards to the book. Really great stuff.

As far as a teenage movie Girl Next Door gets a 9/10 for this. The most original teenage movie in a long time, plus Eli, Kelly and Klitz fucking rule in this movie.
