Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 True Romance - 9.5/10 Catch Me If You Can - 8.5/10 Cradle 2 The Grave - 5/10 Panic Room - 8/10
Guest Eric the Eagle Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Ever since I heard they were making it, I've dreaded seeing it, but... Battle Royale II - 9/10 I loved every minute of it. Only things that keep it from a 10 is that a) Didn't get to know many of the cahracters as good as I would have liked to b) The teacher really didn't need to change to a rugby costume instead of the BAD-ASS outfit he was wearing up until then... But the kid's reaction shot was actually worth the idiocy. c) I just had to see the original again, and... Battle Royale, 10/10 Still my favorite film, and just that much better than it's sequel.
Guest Eric the Eagle Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Oh, and I'm gonna watch Young Guns in about 20 minutes... Good times.
godthedog Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 so far... last half of 'a woman under the influence'. 30-40 minutes of very good stuff, but oh my god do the other 2 hours ever suck. first half of 'general idi amin dada'. so far, interesting but not very engaging. will probably finish it later tonight. 'the fog of war'. damn good movie, but i wouldn't expect anything less from errol morris with such a rich and interesting subject. HIGHLY recommend it. is Fog of War out on dvd yet?? Or did ya steal it? ya dirty bastard in light of the oscars, it's getting a theatrical run here in athens (which will probably be VERY short-lived). Has there ever been a bad movie about the mentally disabled? yes.
Aero Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Lost in Translation 5/10... it's way overrated if you ask me.
Nevermortal Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Pirates of the Carribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 8.5/10
ArkhamGlobe Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Since I got my Herzog/Kinski boxset on Friday, over the last couple of days I've watched: Cobra Verde - probably the weakest of the bunch, as it seemed underdeveloped and a bit unfocused. Still quite good, though. Woyzeck - much better, Kinski was amazing in this. Nosferatu - which I've seen several times before and love to death. Also included in the boxset, though I haven't watched them yet, are Aguirre - the Wrath of God, Fitzcarraldo and My Best Fiend. I've seen each before though as both Aguirre and Fitzcarraldo rate among my favourite films (Aguirre in particular, which always makes my top 10). My Best Fiend is very enjoyable as well.
Guest thebigjig Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Annie Hall 10/10... just as good if not better than Manhattan
Swift Terror Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Heroic Duo: 7.5/10 Fulltime Killer: 9/10 28 Days Later: 7/10
Aero Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 American Wedding 7/10... the other two are better, though
Youth N Asia Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Yeah, I'd put the first couple in the 8-8.5 range. The third is obviously the least of the 3 but still better than your average comedy
Insane Bump Machine Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 The Night Of The Hunter - 7/10 Mitchum's performance is, of course, amazing. It also includes some simply stunning scenes that are beautifully shot. But some of the characters and sequences have aged badly and it didn't shock me as much as when I last saw it about 10 years ago. Still a definite classic though.
Guest SideFXs Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 "Phone Booth" A must see thriller 10/10 "Bruce Almighty" Too funny! 9/10
godthedog Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 very early this morning: 'singles'. good enough, and i enjoyed the seattle scene cameos, but it just didn't gel together very well & didn't have that same cameron crowe romantic magic. the characters weren't very well-drawn or deep, and i couldn't bring myself to care about them as much as, say, lloyd dobler or jerry maguire.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Clockwork Orange. 9/10...righty right! Youth N Asia, that is my second favorite movie of all time. Our likeness of the same movies is scary considering you said Dawn was your favorite horror film of all time...... Dawn of the Dead(1979) - 10/10 ....can't wait for the special edition in the fall.....
Youth N Asia Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Night of the Living Dead (8/10) While I still like the movie a lot...it's aged a lot worse then I remember.
Youth N Asia Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Dawn of the Dead 1979 (10/10)...I liked it better when I was a teenager...but for mindless zombie voilence you can't go better.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Last night, I watched a great film again. Se7en - *****
Insane Bump Machine Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Highlander - a classic with a great soundtrack, cool characters and an interesting concept. But the wooden acting and cheesiness of some scenes hurt it. 6/10
